Kid in the Riot
Good luck to them redeveloping the Mem. When they got planning for the last redevelopment back in the 00's it was viable due to enabling development in the form of student accommodation for UWE. UWE have since built masses of student accommodation on their existing campus, and so it's unlikely there is still off-site demand. Also, I'm not convinced UWE will be keen on going into partnership with Rovers given the UWE stadium debacle, when Rovers pulled the plug on the scheme late in the day. Rovers have proven themselves time and time again to be completely unreliable development partners. 10

Given that they would obviously go for a cheap version, it would still be in the region of 45m-50m. As I say, thats probably now out of date given the rise in construction costs (and everything else) in the last few years. Of course, if they want to go down the route of temporary stands with pillars and plastic roofs, such as their new South Stand, it would be a hell of a lot less but offer nothing in terms of additional off pitch revenue. But I don't think they could afford even that. They're *****d. Which is nice. 5

Its pathetic but its better than it was,,, as soon as this work was announced a few months ago it was obvious they werent going to build this if there was any likelihood of the fruit market development happening. perhaps with the 300k defender signing, and the 800k jch potential signing ( if that was ever really sanctioned), plus this stand expenditure someone is actually starting to spend some money on them? There is a sense though that if you are going to do a job,, do it properly,, that ramshackle stand is clearly a bodge… 45 million or so for a rebuilt stadium isn’t affordable but doing one stand at a time would at least offer improved facilities as they went along if they could ever do anything properly…. If they could have a version of the atyeo stand where we had our changing rooms and offices for years, and maybe a supporters bar facility that would be a huge upgrade… i was up at crewe a few months ago and drove past their stadium… all nicely paved with a really nice stand at one end, it ought to be possible, even for that lot?!
