I see that the Gas reporter has grown some balls and called out their owners in a damning piece in the Post. Fair enough, but what a hypocrite, after being up Bartons arse for all of his time at the club, he had this to say about the manager who replaced Barton;

"Furthermore, he's just a breath of fresh air which has been incredibly welcome. With the 41-year-old you get straight, honest responses in press conferences where excuses are very rarely if ever made while he protects his own players when necessary. A welcome change."

Full article;

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-danger-free-fall-9054824

Which makes it all the more funnier that Joey banned the Post from attending pre and post match conferences.

Why oh why are they so full of shit 🤦‍♂️

What a depressing read and sadly one in which Gas heads through the decades have become accustomed to. A director from a fellow league 1 side (who have also had their share of problems) asked me what do you know about the new owner ?, we cant find anything concrete!! - my reply was: SNAP!! I believed like many that Wael would do the right thing and bring in the right “honest” individuals., has he been fooled ? - Who are these people ?. Yep it’s the “here we go again” syndrome. Who would be a ruddy Gas head ? - Amongst the best fans in the land, who deserve so much more, it is sadly depressing to keep living these shambolic offerings. I still say “They built a new stand - that is progress” but the overall picture is confusing at best and depressing in reality. UTFG 🙄

Nope. The Wally family thought they were getting in on a prime real estate deal and laddo got to play out his dreams of owning the Chelsea of the West. Then it all went boobs north, the rest of the family ran away leaving Wally to run a football club without a pot to piss in and he needs help. The first person to wander through the tent with a couple of coins in loose change down the back of his trousers got brought onboard and declared the new co-owner.

They're nose deep in camel shit and sinking fast

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

When people slate our owners & criticise their every move & demand that they sell up & move on...... we don't have to look very far up the road to see just how that could turn out..!

….. no signs of the laugh supply drying up and if anything, it seems like they’ve actually cranked up production.

I’d just like to thank them for giving us so much free, quality and seemingly endless entertainment 👏👏

Oxford fans still paying £29??

The EFL regulations appear to mean as little to the R###s as do the planning regulations.

Ironic isn't it. I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying that a protest by the Rovers board led to the regulations being changed. We were away at Stoke who ran a promotion meaning we were  charged considerably more than their fans to sit in the same stand. The Dunfords and the rest of the board refused to take boardroom hospitality and sat in the away section.

And grey cloudy skies

A bit off topic but... Having been to Kuwait 4 or 5 times - I ceartinly don't recall the skies looking anything like that, or there being much "greenery" or trees as shown in the picture.

My recollection of Kuwait was unbearable outside temperatures (45+ deg in the middle of the day) and very, very, few clouds. A special mention should also go to the absolute cluster-f*@k of a shambles that is their main airport - for such a rich country it is an utter embrassment. It frequently appears near the top of lists of the worst airports in the world. Lets hope that it serves as an inspiration for development of a certain venue in North Bristol!

All renewed now and laugh entered.

£5 a year?  It's worth at least that just for the laughs this thread gives!

I seem to remember we had issues with an away game at port Vale with similar circumstances that made the nationals when we kicked up a fuss.

I don't know your club history but it is interesting how in days of old, the press and fans talked about 'the board' when something big was on like a takeover or selling a favourite player. Much the same at City, today we discuss the owner, not the board. Is that a sign of the times or just semantics or just me?

Sign of the times imo, especially at “regional” club level.

We’ve seen football go from a boards being made up largely of local businessmen, to very wealthy benefactors pretty much running the show.

This whole ‘academy’ thing is making me think.

It is barking mad and unlikely to ever produce players for them and they’re bloody idiots for even thinking it might.

But, I’ve just realised that they are conning money out of hard working people in Kuwait buy selling the dream of football stardom.

It won’t be the really rich that get robbed as their kids will get whatever they want and probably play at an Academy in England.

It won’t be the really poor who get robbed either as the dream will always have to remain a dream.

It will be the hard working decent people similar to us, that try to improve their kids lot by thinking they are buying them a slice of a dream. They’ll do it by scrimping and saving and working overtime to pay for it. And they aren’t buying a slice of a dream, they are buying them a place on a summer school. A very expensive place at that.

And that has really pissed me off that people could do that to others.

Anyway……as you were.

I just wonder how long before a couple of ‘trialists’ arrive from their Kuwaiti Academy to be signed and the manager is given instructions to play them.

Didn’t Col Gadaffi try that once, with his son going to a Serie A club? I don’t think that worked out too well.

Have they no shame?

It appears, at the behest of their new "Owner," they have resorted to selling "kids for a quid" and adults for a miserly £10.

I know they're desperate for money, but even for them, this is a step too far.

It seems doing anything immoral or illegal is okay with them.

So the Fewers/Rags/Squatters/Sags are now Traffickers as well.

Wonder what their next great (hopefully legal/moral) income-generating scheme will be?

"Hussain Al Seaweed and his team are prowed to announce our Back, Sack and Crack service, (delivered by the stunningly hirsute Irene and her team of toothless hags), our new Fungal Toenail pasty range, and our long-awaited verruca and acne-flavoured drinks (we guarentee they're out-of-date or your money back)"

If any other club bar the Gas were doing £10 tickets and quid a kid

Posters on here would be up in arms slagging off our club and the Lansdowns for not doing the same

The gas give us more than enough to rip the sh#t out of them A bit harsh doing them for this

It’s the fact that they’re finding it so hard to get their poxy little stand 75% full for the SAG inspection, they’re having to practically give away the tickets is what people are laughing at.

Seems like their claim of ‘build it and they will come’ was more than a little optimistic.

Well no, because season tickets for kids for us are cheap and they get a shirt as well.

The point about this offer is that comes after they realised no one was interested at 3x the price, and they are desperate to test the stand out.

You have massively missed the point behind this I am afraid

Probably best to go back a few pages and find out why their own supporters were up in arms about it

They literally have to beg the most faithful and true supporters in the whole wide world to turn up.

They’re still ranting and raving on the kebab man pulling the plug on the Fruit Market.

In light of the fact that they can’t even get 75% capacity at the ‘Meccanocana’ shit hole it seems like pulling the plug on a 15,000+ capacity stadium was a shrewd move by Al Kebabdi and son.

There would have been more atmosphere in a ******* morgue than at the Fruitihad!

Guess it’s easier to lie about the numbers away, as they don’t show up on their end of year accounts like the home attendances do.

This is my first post after many years of reading OTIB especially the Bristol Rovers thread.  I’ve been a City fan for many decades, a season-ticket holder and have a very small shareholding.

Firstly I’d like to say most Bristol Rovers fans are just like us - they support their team in the same way that we do but, there is a code amongst football clubs in this country that if your rivals are in serious financial trouble, you either do nothing or help them in someway.  Unfortunately, one club has not honoured this.  I’ve heard it said, even by some City fans, that all Rovers have over us is 1982. This is not the case.  For those of you who can’t remember, in 1982 Mr Bradshaw and Mr Flook (both directors of BRFC) bid, I believe, £250,000 to buy Ashton Gate.  Their manager at the time, Mr Bobby Gould, confirmed in an interview that this was their chance to become the only professional team in Bristol so their intentions were very clear.

So, when 1982 is mentioned, Bristol Rovers fans should hang their heads in shame and shuffle their feet with embarrassment - it was not their finest hour.

I’m led to believe that the current owners of Bristol Rovers are honourable people so I invite them to apologise for the actions of their club in 1982.

Thank you for reading this.
