2-0 up at home against bottom of the league.  He’ll be doing 50 laps of the stadium at full time

Yeah I saw they were playing Doncaster United. Just the sort of game we didn`t want them to have really. He`ll have his spikes on already.

Mind you, a Donny comeback for 3-2 would be ******* funny!

Certainly not defending MA and fully understand people have (strong) opinions on him. But 22 pages and counting? They ain’t even in the Championship.

Time to move on? Respectfully from a fellow red.

We’ve over 2,000 pages on the Rovers thread and they are struggling to stay in the league!

The bloke is a *** who was allowed by a sleeping owner to cause a lot of longer term damage to this football club. If some people won’t let that lie and forget it in a hurry that’s up to them, respectfully.

Plus, in a similar way to the blue few, he continues to give us free hits due to his antics.

It`s an amusing sideshow and great fun.

It certainly is up to them but he’s gone now, so just don’t see the point of keeping him in the spotlight really. Anyway each to their own.

According to his own interview, Ashton considers Cook as "part of his recruitment team".

Following Charlie Watts’ recent death, I read a story from the Stones early years.

In the 80s Jagger’s ego was causing problems in the band. He and Richards got back to their hotel in the early hours and Jagger decided to call Charlie Watts, shouting down the phone “where’s my drummer”.

20 minutes later Charlie walks into Jagger's room, lifted him up by the lapels and knocked him over with a right hook. “I’m not YOUR drummer” said Watts, “You’re MY singer!"

I like the way you say early years, the 80s (nearly 40 years ago) and the Stones had already been around for 20!

People/journo’s also tend to forget that Brian Jones founded the Rolling Stones, not Mick & Keith. I expect Mick & Keith do too.

I should have said earlier.

I'm in my late 60s so well remember the very early years (although I must confess to not being their greatest fan).

Your right about Jagger & Richards as, over time, it's got to feel that they are the Stones. Academic of course, but I wonder how the band would have developed without Jones' untimely death.

he'd already left or been fired…such a waste of a talent. There were rumours of him working with George Harrison, and others in the future. An extremely talented musician who probably wasn't suited to the rock n roll circus that the Stones became.

Churchillesque rallying cry from MA at Ipswich. Deft use of the English language, with an amazing, incredible and, may I say it, exciting use of adjectives that include "amazed", "amazing", "excited" and "exciting". Fans of his "fantastic" and (my personal favourite) "absolutely fantastic" will have to wait for his next speech. https://www.itfc.co.uk/news/2021/october/mark-ashton-shrewsbury-town-programme-notes/

I repeat it again, in all seriousness, I am truly concerned about his mental health wellbeing.

Also, if I was Paul Cook, I would not be looking to buy a house in the Ipswich area.

Interview over on the Ipswich site now with one of the American owners who is visiting Ipswich this week. In the photo announcing the interview, there's a man in the middle pointing as if he's checking out a new missile site in North Korea. He's not the American chap.

You're not wrong!

Looks like a successful launch...

Hey, who is this guy?

Brett Johnson - one of the owners of Gamechanger 20 Ltd, who own Ipswich.

Ok thanks Fevs.

I meant it's him asking the question. ?

The obsession on here about him and Johnson is insane.

Obsession I would agree - but I'm not so sure that's what it is. People all over OTIB this afternoon are looking for reasons why we are in the mess we are in. Johnson, Ashton, look no further.

It really hurts if you saw it coming. What a mess!

I don't give two hoots what happens to them now though. In fact good luck to LJ if he can turn his apprenticeship at City into something good...although it still beats me why we ever hired an apprentice when we had such a wonderful opportunity to really build.

Their forum lays all the blame at Paul Cook.

Although one or two are starting ask Qs about which ones were Cook signings and which ones were Ashton’s, especially the ones that don’t fit Cook’s de facto 4231.

There’s a decent gap to the playoffs, and some relative big hitters above them.  This is gonna be a weird Lg1 this season where there could be serious repercussions for a few teams that don’t go up.  Only 3 can!
