Commented on another thread that he came across as very downbeat on Tues and in his interview with Dave Barton yesterday.

That said, he didn't appear outwardly unwell yesterday so something has either come on very quickly, or he has been suffering with something physical or mental for a while.

Either way, get well soon Nige.

I think you are spot here.

Thought the same.

It's November: all sorts of bugs going about.

Anecdotal evidence suggests colds and viruses are more widespread than usual this year due to us being in lockdown last Winter.

Tell me about it….that was me last weekend.  Like City I couldn’t hit the target at either end!

All the best Nige, get well soon, just make sure you do get well.

Hopefully he's alright.

It's a worrying situation that we're on a run of poor form and just when we need strong leadership we find ourselves with Fleming and Ball leading us out. That's no disrespect to them because even they would not have even imagined this turn of events back in the summer.

My mate had it in his late forties, says he wasn’t ill but his energy levels after are shocking. Has to rest just climbing the stairs

I’d imagine it’s taken it’s toll with Nige and he actually does need a rest - nothing more

If the after effects are like M.E. as they say then I should imagine that he's having great difficulty in planning anything at the moment. That's me speaking from personal experience,

Just read through a few replies , and **** me there are people doing some serious conclusion jumping .

Fail Long Jump GIF

Seriously, if he's ill it could be anything . We hadn't had a cold for 18 months, after "Freedom day" (FFS) my Mrs got a stinker and passed it on. It's cold & Flu season and he's not long back from a 2nd bout of COVID. Could be anything, and I wish him well. Hope it's not long COVID, a mate is struggling months after getting. Out of breathless, only working part time and worst of all, can't drink more than a half in one sitting.

No point in speculating, and I do think it's a little early to pick a replacement. Lets get the next loss out of the way and then consider Nige's leaving gift then

Get well soon Nige. We’re rooting for you.

To comment on the ‘ he will walk away’ posters , how Bristol City would it be to then unveil Fleming as the new manager with Ball as his number two?

:shocking:

Very.

The cynical side of me sees a resignation due to health problems coming (can’t believe I’m posting this).

I said that in a previous post, I'm afraid that the two bouts of COVID and the pressure he's under is just having a toll on his general health. I really hope I'm wrong, because knowing SL' decisions re head coach appointments, probably it will be left to Cummings to get the team out of the mess they are in. Let's hope big Nige will get back normal sooner than later.

Very true.

And let’s not forget, GAStroenteritis is awful at any time of year!

Cometh the hour.....cometh the man, perhaps it's time you put yourself forward for the job, Reg

If you got it, I dont mind giving you advice from my new place in the Lansdown, whilst chatting away to Marina.

Tough call but someone has to do it ?

Place in the Lansdown! If @CyderInACanis the new manager then you’ll be lacing up your boots and playing up front sunshine!

Haven’t read the whole thread so apologies but saw this post and thought worth a reply

a huge part in his decision making process of taking the job was his health, if he’s not feeling up to it I’m led to believe he will 100% walk

hopefully he gets better and we can try and see this through

I wish Nige all the best and hope he is well soon.

But it just adds to the mounting evidence that this club is cursed.

apparently, in the old days, pirates were brought up the Avon and publically hanged at Ye Olde Gate of Ashton, as the last pirate was cut down , a Robin appeared, the rest is history, perhaps we should have called ourselves 'The Pirates'............worth a thought ?

Wishing Nige a full and speedy recovery.

IF, it is Covid related, and we don’t know that it is, as someone posted earlier look at what it did to Cotts who, I believe is a very very fit bloke.

Lets hope that it something much less serious and he will be back at the helm very soon.

We need him.

Nige won't walk... Get better soon big man and come back and help us stay away from a relegation battle.

Always believe. AFTER Jan 22, Summer 22 and Jan 23 transfer windows, if you fail to be challenging then, I will show you the door...

In the meantime, get well soon.

I do hope that C-word a typo.

Unfortunately, the habits of an older generation.

I remember well how, when discussing what to eat, almost as a last resort, somebody would sometimes suggest ‘What about a takeaway ‘Chinky’ - with apologies for repeating it.

On a similar, currently topical note, when in urgent need of a small household item out of normal shopping hours, it would not be uncommon for somebody to suggest trying the P shop on the corner.

Hopefully, most of us have progressed.

sorry to anyone offended,i didnt realise this had changed as well.  it was reference to the chinese takeaway  i will efit it if my mistake causes offence, however, the comments regarding it,make more sense with with the original post there and i cant get slated for trying to cover a genuine unknown error if i do so.  ,i didnt know it would. if there are any offended chinese here, drop me a pm and i will personally apologise to you.

Too many people being offensive and too many people being over-sensitive to offence. The stupidity of modern times can be measured by the number of apologies being issued.

Anyway, come on you Reds! (apologies to any reactionaries who may be offended by my apparent call to Communism)

I grew up with that term being used as a reference for a Chinese takeaway. However wrong it is now with the benefit of much greater racial awareness- I dont think any of us used the term knowing ( or wanting) it to be offensive. Well done for being honest enough to admit to being out of step and apologising....... back to the footie now. 3 points guaranteed. Massengo hat trick...... possibly......

Not sure that disgusted from Tunbridge Wells would get it (i go there quite a lot).
Pleased to say that Bristol in 2021 is the sort of place where most people would instinctively. Times change- sometimes v quickly- and my view is that it’s always worth distinguishing between those who use derogatory terms deliberately and with the aim to hurt, and those who do so clumsily or because they haven’t had a chance to catch up (this seems to be easier to acknowledge when, like me, your 56). As to the P word, I spent time in Australia in 1991 and the tv commentators used it routinely to describe players from Pakistan or the team as a whole.
Meanwhile get well soon big Nige- Covid badly, twice- football, bloody hell.

Your a mere youngster, it's very difficult for me as I grew up in the 60s and 70s the world was very different then, even though I try my hardest to keep up with modern terminology occasionally I have slipped up and have quickly been told on here in no uncertain terms, my common mistake is coloured or black and your right sometimes ignorance is a legitimate excuse as people even as young as you will have grown up using certain words and phrases and use them in all innocence, and yes if anyone was in any doubt about the dangers of covid our poor manager should be a lesson to us all, some people almost get away scot free others it hits like a sledgehammer the problem is nobody knows for certain which category they will fall into hence the importance of at least doing all you can and getting vaccinated to at least improve your chances of a good outcome.
