We asked Nigel to get the club out of this division as quickly as possible and he's currently on his way to delivering that objective.

I'm kidding!

I disagree Geoff. Nigel has turned this club around. When he joined we were hopeless and desperate. Now we're desperate and hopeless.

I'm kidding, but it's fun.

There was definitely some genuine needle between Twentyman and Ashton.

It'll be much more amicable with Gould but I'm sure he won't shy away from asking the tough questions that need to be asked.

Totally.

It is patronising to suggest GT doesn’t give any interviewees a tough time.

He played for, captained & was assistant manager of Rovers but Wael still gets the same treatment.

Ashton is someone you can understand getting under an interviewers skin, all buzz words and spin, so no wonder GT would sound irritated.

I think it probably went much further than that. Ashton has previous form for having falling outs with local media that are critical of him/the club (see Watford) so it wouldn't surprise me if there'd been an off-air falling out or two. But that's only speculation on my part... Twentyman just sounded borderline angry the last couple of times he spoke to Ashton, and that's very unlike him. Clearly, no love lost between the two of them.

Suspect Geoff saw completely through him, that’s why.

Plus I think he knew he was someone who would do the complete opposite of what Gould is doing tonight, appear during the good runs & miraculously disappear during the bad ones.

Agreed.

Geoff is nobodies fool (despite playing for the Gas), clearly got his finger on the pulse with the local clubs and clearly has good contacts at them too.

Ex player, been involved with Rovers in a coaching / management capacity - he’s a quality individual to have in our local media and respected by managers of both clubs. He could see through Ashton’s bullshit

If he wasn't being paid to speak to him I doubt GT would have given MA the time of day.

I heard although I’m paraphrasing RG re NP….. we have missed him, we want him back, unsure of the timeframe, long Covid is somewhat an unknown.

My sense is the Club’s position is clearly stated. NP is unwell and only time will tell how it will end which IMO is in one of two ways:

1 He will regain his health in time to resume his role

2 He or the Club will decide that his health prevents him resuming his role

i very much hope it’s the former, but only time will tell.

This is nonsense. If NP has long Covid so bad that he can’t work, realistically he won’t be healthy enough for months.

I’d imagine conversations are going on with replacements during the international break.

Horrible business but we need a leader fully firing within the next few weeks - I can’t see how that’s going to be NP.

Feel for Richard Gould. This is not easy. Well done Geoff for asking challenging questions.
