Sheffield United away match day thread

WTF was that?!? Our front 2 are routinely 30 yards more forward than anyone else. When we win it back neither one of them drop deep to help link. Despite having everyone else behind the ball they are finding massive spaces to exploit. The ref is an absolute moron.

This team even gets a sniff of adversity they just shut down completely as footballer. I am done with the Weimann and Martin combo up front. Give me Conway and Semenyo all day. Idc if they have less than 5 goals combined at this level I am certain they’d offer more. I shudder to think what level Weimann would be playing at if he didn’t run like he does. Martin has ability but he is probably, if I am being nice, a L2 level athlete.

Some serious adjustments need to be made at HT. Yes they are up for it with their new manager but on the couple times we ended up in their third I felt like they were shaky. We need to get more bodies in the box. COD or Scott need to be at the back post. Benarous and Massengo need to be making runs in there.

bakinson so casual and jogging around all the time.

in the press conference on Friday Bakinson seemed to say all the right things, but for me he was saying what he believed people wanted to hear, and not his proper beliefs and thoughts?    He states all the correct answers and tells us how he is improving and how his fitness is better and how intends to become a box to box player like his hero Patrick Viera?  But really nothing changes, and for all his promise, he will never cut it as a Championship player?  He needs shipping out IMHO.

I would have started Wells and Semenyo up front today, if for no other reason than energy.

W’ve got to have some energy second half, someone to occupy their back players and try holding the ball up.

I get it. We are what we are at the minute, pretty dull, lack spark. But blimey are we crying out for some mobility and aggression up front. If you got to keep playing on the back foot all the time, you are going to crack most times.

11 useless slugs out there.

If the Blades knew how to finish and had taken all their changes, it would be game over by now.

I thought we'd be bad today, but not that bad.

Won't be surprised if we get slaughtered second half.

Will be surprised if we get anything out of the game.

Get out that cloth and polish them turds Pearson.

Same old over reaction on here. We all know the team isn’t good enough but until the next transfer window what can we do about it? Don’t hear from half the posters on here today when we win a game.

That's cos we very rarely win a game

Look forward to watching that defending again on this year’s Xmas Footballing Gaffs video.

Appalling for any professional team, let alone one of (current) Championship standard. What are we doing in training to make such basic errors?

Really poor first half from us giving them far too much time and space... Aim less balls lumped up front to Martin who quite frankly is a waste of a shirt at the moment and contributes nothing to the team at all (he must have something on Pearson) changes needed for second half...

The ref has been appalling bottled big decision and giving them everything..

Poor first half. Lucky it’s one. Thought we had over one a terrible start around the 20-25 min mark but it was temporary.

Having criticised Dan White on Robinstv for lack of prep the red button commentator said something along the lines of I don’t know any of the city posters.

Bakinson looks somewhat lost currently.

I don’t rate him, sorry. Never have done.

That’s not an overreaction either, he’s just so frustrating to watch. You just want to grab him and shake him.

The guy is away with the fairies.

Yes but Hope springs  eternal. We sledgers know we are not a good side but at least we deserve some collective effort and a few half decent passing movements to warm the cockles on such a day. You see, it’s the dodgers who keep coming back each year, paying the money and having an opinion.

Get Wells on for a start........without Williams and James we are at times pitiful.  I will be astounded if we turn this around.  Same old City...same old pheckin excuses?

You'd expect ANY Championship side to do the basics with a degree of composure. You know, things like passing more than 3 times consecutively and keeping posession.

This ref is the complete opposite of the guy on Wednesday v Stoke. I know the ref on Wednesday want perfect (far from it) but I'd take him over this ****t every day of the week.

FWIW, Stoke fans certainly- although perhaps a bit salty- seemed to think he was favoring us Tuesday. Although not read the whole thread.

Think we had a couple of nice pieces of play, and when we got 2-3 corners that built a bit of pressure but overall nothing doing really.

Pretty well been dominated- their pressing is much better than ours, as well as the obvious like shots and possession.

Scott is never a natural RWB- not his fault but he isn't. Young too- have a problem in the wide areas.

3 bookings...all pretty cheap. All for kicking the ball away? Should know better.

Yet Brewster committed four or five fouls in the first ten minutes and no yellow card!

Thought he was frustrating and gave it away far too much personally , works hard but the fact that he’s currently a starter for us in the ‘creative’ role shows how bad it is right now

Well yeah he's having to step up more than he would without injuries but to say he hasn't been in any of the games just isn't fair on him.

Thank you for your comment which I disagree with.  We shall be mid table at end of season exactly as NP said at the start.

I struggle to see how you think this. Sheff Utd were on the same points as us going into this game, if they win this they go midtable, if we win it we go midtable but watching this match so far we look miles away from getting anything.
I think we'll survive relegation but only because Barnsley and Peterborough are having an awful season and Derby had the points deduction. I mean if Reading hadn't of had the points deduction they'd currently be 3 points above us too.

Exactly- where was his booking? Thought it was 3 in the first 15-20 but happy to check later...

Still he definitely deserved an early booking- but experienced players kicking the ball away should know better that it can lead to a booking.

Apparently I am sad and confused.....surely no more so than the current players representing Bristol City?

And unsurprising that you give the manager no credit for that but are back wanting him sacked as soon as we have a bad half.

Get ****** with your agenda.

Have we not just got 4 points from the last 2 home games ? How is that an agenda.

We have looked like a different team, well coached, organised and motivated side.

The manager takes credit for that as do the players.

These players are not crap or uncoachable as proved in the last 2 games, as inconvenient as that is to others with agendas.

I am a big fan. He actually cuts out quite a few passes, mops up crosses from time to time and is one of the few that will get his head up and try to pass forward.

That said, he needs to be a bit more energetic and a lot more combative if he wants a long career at this level or higher. He doesn’t need to sprint everywhere like Massengo(who has been chasing the ball everywhere and leaving gaps everywhere for Bakinson and Benarous to try and fill) but he could easily win some 50/50s if he just tried to get there first. And the pulling out and not wanting to make any contact or attempt to tackle is just not how to make a career as a deeper midfielder.

For as much as I like him, he won’t make it at his current ability. He needs to add those things and quickly. Reputation as a bottler will come quickly and won’t go away.

Seems to me a great deal of hysteria on Otib today.  We are not promotion material this season, despite some hyping it after Stoke win.  We are also not relegation material.  We have too much brio and too much talent for that.  1-0 away from home at ha.f time isn’t there d of the world, or the end of the afternoon eithet

Too much talent seriously?
