Have you replied to the wrong post?

Sorry about the confusion. I was just continuing our banter and giving my reasons why I was unhappy about the pricing. I'm all for encouraging the kids to come as they will be our future but 2 or 3000 kids at a quid, who won't all come back again,  won't make up for the loss of adult attendance at theses prices. I think they got it wrong this time.

Take a packed lunch and eat it in the car before the game. No point spending £20+ on food

Spot on, I'm always amazed by the comments from fans who moan about the price of food or drink in the stadium. I've decided to come up with some other options for them -

* Try going 90 minutes without eating and drinking. I can guarantee you will not keel over and die.

* Purchase your food from Sainsburys or Aldi, both less than 10 mins walk from the ground.

* Purchase your food from one of the 30 plus eateries all within 15 minutes walk of the stadium.

* Make some sandwiches and a flask of coffee before you leave the house, likely cost about a quid.

Problem solved, no need to thank me.

Valid points but don't forget it's getting to the coldest part of the year so anyone wanting something to warm up with in the ground don't really have a choice.

Chip shop opposite The Robins.....or KFC if short on time, but to be honest, I'd rather wait until I get home and order a takeaway to be delivered.

Yep, I don’t get the argument that you must eat from the vendors at the game.

Don't understand why people pay it. I often bring something from home then I'm not paying out anymore than I need to.. Foods not great and prices Not great either.. So agree I don't get the argument why they have to eat from the vendors either.

Especially for an early kick off.

Yes it's £40 for 1 adult and 3 kids, but it's 12.30. You'll need to feed those kids £6 burgers, so straight away you'll be looking at £50+ to watch us lose to Fulham 3 nil.

The prices are shocking but let’s just be clear about one thing: you don’t “need” to buy kids £6 burgers.

Teams aren't announced yet so far as I know. Our line up for the League Cup game in the summer included Kalas, Wells, HNM, Williams, and Nagy. You don't know how Pearson might see the FA Cup this season.

A ticket for a student to this game is £10.

Depending on how you define a "family" this game could be attended for £25 for three people - one adult and two under-12s in the SS. That's surely affordable for 95% of people if this is the one game they attend in a season.

I agree that POTD is overpriced. Believe me, I pay it every time I come to AG.

I understand that people want to moan, especially if they've already decided the game should be £10, but it's really quite good compared to our normal pricing. For context, last we set the following for the 3rd round v Shrewsbury. Adult prices are up this year, but kids are down.

yep excellent value going to take the grand kids and my nephews. less than 30 quid bargain.COYR

I assume most of the people that post on this forum are season ticket holders and think anywhere between £15 and £20 is the going rate for a ticket to watch football and £25 is expensive for a football ticket.

To add some context I looked up going to Exeter v Tranmere last weekend that was £25 - £25 to watch 2 league 2 teams play each other in far worse facilities than Ashton gate.

£23 seems pretty reasonable to me even if it is second teams (which it won't be because we don't have a second 11 anymore) bearing in mind Fulham's second team is probably far better than league 2 standard.

If I got a £5 ticket to this I wouldn't go football is duller than dishwater at the moment I only go with my season ticket because I have bought it, there's a small chance of it being entertaining and I like the social bit of it.

In the 55 years that i have been going to Ashton Gate entertainment hasn't been the main attraction most years.

I’m not going either way but members (like me) normally get a fiver off match tickets. No mention of that at all. If there isn’t any discount, then it’s actually barely any cheaper than an ordinary league game.

Usual shambles from City.

EDIT - just checked and adult prices in the South Stand and Lansdown family area are the SAME as member prices for a (silver) league game. Members discount only applies to league games. SHOCKING! As a member there is absolute nothing to attract me to this fixture.

if you search for my historical posts you'll find that (apart from a couple of pints when I was in hospitality 25 years ago) I've only ever bought a single wagon wheel at the gate and that was probably 40 years ago now. Luckily (or not) I've always lived locally, so even if I do get hungry I can be home relatively quickly (I sit in the Dolman and stay to the end so it takes a while to get out) to scarf some grub. I'd probably be tempted by a £1 veggie pie on my way out otheriwsie.

As a comparison....Tickets for Leeds fans attending their FA Cup match at West Ham will go on sale on Weds 15th Dec...

£15 adults

£15 seniors aged 65+

£15 young adults aged 16 to 20 years

£5 juniors under 16 years

£100m per season in TV money helps tbh. Plus other commercial spinoffs of being in the PL and in West Ham's case European football too- it all helps.

That said, this game for us- it does seem overly expensive for a tie such as this, at this time of the year too.

Really??? Simply wear a sensible coat, scarf and gloves. Pack a flask of hot chocolate. You really don't need to spend a fortune on food to stay warm!

Looking at the Covid news today, I think caution might be wise. Quite feasible that fan numbers will be restricted/ no fans. And with the 2023 World Cup, no room to extend season.

Totally agree and if I was going  (which I am not) I wouldn't contemplate buying a ticket until a few days before, just in case.

It might seem high to ST holders but IIRC that is £10 less than the normal cheapest potd ticket.

The issue of course is that potd is too expensive anyway, but it's still a relatively cheap ticket.

You recall incorrectly. In the South Stand and family area (the cheapest tickets) it’s the same price as members pay for a league fixture. So it’s a fiver cheaper than non-member price.

I just can’t get believe City settled on these prices and didn’t anticipate the response.

That membership price is for a silver tier game. Personally I can't remember the last time that we had a silver tier game. They're pretty rare.

I don't disagree that prices generally are too high. Having never held an ST I've paid POTD all my City supporting life so believe me I know all too well how much they are.

Yes these FA Cup tickets are more expensive than members tickets for a silver game.

With respect, you’re talking absolute rubbish. Around 60% of our league games are silver category. Upcoming league games:

SILVER: Huddersfield, Millwall, Reading, Coventry

GOLD: QPR, Cardiff, Boro.

Fair enough. I can accept being wrong.

I still think the prices are ok, they aren't cheap, but I don't think they are outrageous.

At the end of the day the crowd itself will say everything about what people think of the prices. Like I said above I personally feel this was a chance for the club to thank supporters who, given the football on offer this season and a number of seasons now, have been very understanding and certainly far more positive than I expected on the whole. To be fair to Nige he is very aware of that too. I think most people will just look at £23-£25 and say "**** you", right, wrong or indifferent.

Not forgetting that couples, like my wife and me, would get hit for £50 whilst working out our finances for away games in the new year.

Correct, not outrageous but definitely more than many will be PREPARED to pay. I would expect a very mediocre crowd for this game. The uncomfortable truth is, regardless of the announced attendance, we've barely been getting 14K ACTUALLY TURNING UP for league games as it is, probably significantly less than that a couple of times. However, typical of our club, they will bury their heads in the sand until season ticket sales completely bomb at some point and then we will all be lectured by a certain individual about whether we are interested or not and if we aren't why should he be.................

Of course the prices aren’t outrageous for a single match but, in the context of the club previously asking fans to forgo season ticket refunds previously, shows how far out of touch they are with the fans currently.

The club missed a great opportunity to thank the fans once again.

They won’t gain much from selling 8000 tickets.

The next 4 away games after Christmas are Luton, Fulham, Preston and Blackpool......that's over 1,300 miles travelling. When you add in the cost for fuel, tickets, food etc. and then throw the cost of this cup match into it, you can see why many fans can't afford a lot of football these days.

I dread to think what the coach prices would add up to for two people going together...

Took the wife and middle daughter to the City Womens game against Lewes on Sunday (FA Cup 3rd round so equivalent of the Fulham game). £5 for adults, £1 for u19s. Parking was £3. Even stretching to a tea and a couple of hot chocolates at half time meant that it only cost me £21 for all three of us, and we got to see a great game with 5 unanswered goals for City.

Last game I watched at the Gate qas the Fulham match before lockdown (it was my 40th and I got a free ticket). Since then I have seen a number of City Womens games at the HPC as it is priced well and you're almost guaranteed a good game, plus my girls like to be able to go down to pitch side at the end of the match, chat to the players (they refer to them by their first name rather than their surname which I find odd) and get photos and autographs. Something that just wouldn't happen at the Gate for the mens team.

They have got the pricing of this game all wrong, I don't see how they can justify charging over £20 for a game, right at the end of everyone's most expensive time of the year, and when we play the same team in the league a matter of days later. Had they charged £20 with free entry for accompanied kids for example, or say £15/£16 with kids for £1 I may have gone along, but at these prices I think I'll stick to the Womens team for now.

And can I just add, if you haven't taken the opportunity to watch the Vixens yet, I can highly recommend it!

Especially if a quarter of them are kids for a quid. Bad marketing this time City!

Ok, controversial here but I’ll say it anyway...

No problem if youngsters are genuinely interested in the game and it’s great to see Mums and Dads etc talking them through it, but bloody hell they are a pain the the ass if they aren’t.

Unfortunately for me there are about 6 spaces right in front of my seat which aren’t ST holders so we get random people sitting there match by match. A couple of weeks ago we had two Dads and four boys ages about 7-9 years. First half the Dad’s sat there with them, no problem the boys just ate and ate, massive burger, sweets, drinks etc. The Dads then decided to go 15 mins before HT “to get a drink” and the boys were told to stay there and not move. 20 mins into the second half the two Dads reappeared. At least two of the boys were very uncomfortable as they needed the toilet, the other two were anxious. One did have a mobile phone which he was trying to ring someone on. What type of person leaves kids for the best part of an hour surrounded by strangers! I doubt their football experience was a very positive one.

Not outrageous, but when West Ham v Leeds is £15 & £5 children, you wonder how City works out their prices. Yes children are £1 but adults won’t pay the £23 to accompany them.

Pretty sure it was full price. Which as it was 2 top teams (poetic licence with Man U), and a quarter and semi final, is understandable.

Many thanks, it's just been announed that the Swindon v Man City tickets for home fans are £35 so was trying to compare even though you have much better facilities and that the games were in them efl cup and at a later stage in the competition.

I personally think that's too much for a 3rd Round game, but can understand why you'd charge it.

Not gone down too well here but I guess the new owner wants to claw some money back.

All EFL teams (parachute teams excepted ) are in the same boat. Man City, big draw that doesn't come around often, so you can understand his viewpoint.
I always think you shouldn't price at the top level just because you can. Aim at a reasonable level to expect, or hope for a sellout .
