cidered abroad
Apart from Gordon Parr, John Watkins and Bobby Williams, I cannot think of any other who goes back to 1950's than Jantzen. Anyone know different.

So I believe but cannot find any date of death on Wikipedia. According to this he is still alive aged 82. I recently added Alec's name to another topic where several left backs with surnames beginning with B were mentioned. Like Alec I was a former right footed full back who played on the left so rembered him when your post came up. I too had my doubts so tried a check and came up with the following link. I just had to trust it is authentic. https://www.howold.co/person/alec-briggs

Jefferz
Sir Geoff has to be one of the best centre back headers of a ball for his height ever. Great leap

Great leap Wasn't Sir Geoff one of the players Arsenal were after? Sir Tom Ritchie was the other one IIRC. So glad I was around when they were playing, what a team! Sir Ray Cashley Sir Gerry Sweeney Sir Brian Drysdale Sir Geoff Merrick Sir Gary Collier Sir Trevor Tainton Sir Tom Ritchie His highness the most honourable Gerry Gow Sir Clive Whitehead Sir Jimmy Mann The most honourable Sir big Cheese Finally Sir Keith Fear. What a side they were, absolutely awesome! Edited December 20, 2021 by Ska Junkie
