Reports coming through that there has been a military coup in Burkina Faso.

I wonder how that will affect their team's morale.

Looking at their history seems like they have had a few of these over the years so I would expect them to be relatively calm at this stage (might be completely wrong). From a selfish point of view it would be good to see Bertrand Traore really fired up for their next game, looked quality when Villa beat us in the league cup last season.

Viewers can watch hosts Cameroon take on The Gambia on Saturday, 29 January on BBC Two, with kick-off at 16:00 GMT.

On Sunday 30 January, the clash between Sadio Mane's Senegal and Equatorial Guinea (19:00) will be on the same channel.

The matches will also be shown on the BBC Sport website and iPlayer.

The other two quarter-finals see Burkina Faso take on Tunisia at 19:00 on Saturday and Egypt face Morocco the day after at 19:00.

Both semi-finals and the final will be broadcast live on BBC Three.

The goal he scored was an illustration of what he's good at, playing on the shoulder of the defence and slotting the finish. Actually not dissimilar to the two that we scored yesterday.

As opposed to the way we mostly used him which was to launch it in the air in his general direction and expect him to do something with it.

Semenyo or Fam?

Would you swap one for the other.

I'd have Semenyo any day. Fam was good at heading but used to have a first touch of a trampoline and wasn't the quickest.

Semenyo more my sort of striker. Quick, strong, good turn, good dribbler

Senegal rightly won in the end but Equatorial Guinea did themselves proud, especially for a predominantly young team. Saul Coco the 22 year old CB stood out in their defence, while the 23 year old Josete Miranda, who currently pays for Greek Super League 2 side Niki Volos on loan from Getafe, pulled the strings in midfield.

To be fair, Fammy's lot should always beat Equatorial Guinea , one of the poorest countries in the world and with less than a tenth of the population of Senegal.

Equatorial Guinea did very well to progress in the competition as far as they did.

Mark Thatcher's favourite team.

anyone else watch tonights game? i was creased up laughing at some of the challenges. full boot in the gonads for one poor sod. all done with no intent. as for the goal keeper, must have a few busted ribs after that bloke landed on him.

ref was amazing, smiled all the way through, didnt know he could scrub bookings that easy, maybe something a few of our refs could learn from. good to see var getting it right tonight, quite refreshing to see it used properly

I dipped in and out - the quality of the play seemed low - but the ref was excellent, Keith Stroud and Gavin Ward could learn a thing or two from him.

That must have been first half that I missed! All Egypt from what I've seen.

You must have nodded off and had a little dream. Cameroon had 60% possession in the first half hour. Egypt hardly got out of their half. Arguably Egypt decided to let them and just to defend.

I knew those Cameroon players would miss just based on their run ups. Such a huge moment in their professional careers and that's the run up they go with.... I don't get it. But they're the ones there and it's a situation I'll never experience.

If you hit it as hard as you can and it gets saved, you feel awful but at least it was a decent effort, two step and stutter run ups never make sense for me. Even Ronaldo smashes every penalty as hard as he can and he’s the best pen taker of all time IMO.

Ah, the old rope-a-dope tactic.

Le Tissier was the best penalty taker of all time...............missed one out of 49 I believe it was.

Can anyone guess who was the only keeper to save a Le Tissier penalty?
