When asked at Senior Reds Flint was asked who his toughest opponent was and without a moments hesitation he said ‘Chris Martin’…..who at the time was at Derby County ….

Martin bagged a brace today……………..:rofl2br:

He hasn’t played for Preston.

I said on the match thread that I was disappointed he was back, after we’d looked more effective going forward last few games without him. But I’m happy to be wrong!

I wasn’t convinced first half: too often him and AS were playing with their backs to goal and it seemed to break up any fluidity. But they seemed to work it out second half and looked much more like a partnership.

We know he can finish, and didn’t disappoint today, but was also effective as part of the team and linked well.

This one's a conundrum for me. You can't knock the guys finishing, his shots to goals ratio is very good, but for me we've looked a much more dangerous team without him in the side. In the first half we looked way too pedestrian compared to our recent performances. Is that down to Martin, I'm not sure, but I think long term nige will look to go with his favoured 4231 with semenyo up top

I did something today that I haven’t done in ages - I bought a cheese and onion pastie in the concourse. For £3:60 it was perfectly acceptable.

Are you sure???

Don't tell me the tannoy was better as well!

?

At the Senior Reds? Definitely food for thought.

He’s clearly benefitted from:

- Having his game time properly managed

- Having a physical presence with him to share the load

- Having players run beyond him

When those three things happen he’s a very, very good Championship player.

Antoine Semenyo’s return makes a huge difference to Martin IMO.

Said in the last week, that it’s only with Antoine’s return from injury that it appears that Nige is comfortable resting Martin.

Probably the best Chris Martin-linked song if you're not a Coldplay fan?

I’m not a fan….well, they’re alright. Much like the main man himself. Put another way Chris Martin can be a bit Coldplay. But today he’s my effing hero.

Change of tactics helped him no end, not been a fan but good to see him shine against Badiff COYR

He's such an impressive speaker. Future management material for sure if he wants it .

An interesting article, including an interesting sentence ?.

Martin is something of a journeyman in the EFL, having played for nine different clubs during his 15-year career, scoring 155 goals in all competitions.

Absolutely.

Really articulate & if he wants to, will presumably stay in the game after his playing career ends.
