Joe Williams

He is genuinely a big part in the jigsaw to getting us top 6 in the league. If we can get a full season out of him we’ll be laughing. There’s a really good spine to this team that needs to be built on. Williams in the middle will be crucial to it working.

For all LJ's faults...........Williams, Webster, Semenyo and HNM were all signed under his management, plus 1 or 2 others?.....I now await to be bombarded by a list of all his failures?   Ha!  ?

I hate to be pedantic but Holden signed Williams.

Actually, I don’t hate to be pedantic. You’re wrong.

There will never be anyone fit to tie GG's laces Joe, never.

Williams is a very good modern day centre mid but to compare him, or anyone, to Sir Gerry? Nah.

Damn that injury-plague !

Our medics and fitness coaches need to up their game.

Send out the scouts immediately to find some players worthy of tying up King Gerry's boot-laces.

LJ left in July 2020 ..........Williams was signed August 2020...so its probably a matter of conjecture?  But he must have been scouted and lined up under LJ's management.   If I am Wrong, then i stand corrected.

We actually wanted him earlier but lost out to Wigan iirc.

You are welcome to be a pedant..........but LJ did all the spadework, and he was lined up under his management.  Holden just dotted the i's and crossed the t's.......From what i understand.

This is true. We did want him the year before too.

I was a little worried about Joe over the last couple of games. Since his latest injury comeback he’d not quite found a rhythm, and I actually thought his last few brief appearances were very below par.
But he more than made up for that today and was excellent. Long may that continue.

Bollocks.

I also recall him being a player we were linked with for a few years under LJ but we never went for him. Did we miss out on him or did we just not go for him at the time, I don’t know and nor do you - probably.

I also recall a Holden interview where he stated that Williams was his number 1 transfer target that summer when he got the job. Holden definitely actively signed him, regardless of previous interest under LJ’s regime.

Ah! yet another keyboard expert, expressing himself eloquently.  You are obviously full of insider knowledge, so I will leave it up to you and your best mate Dean.

We tried to sign him earlier, he was injured and we ended up signing Walsh some time later.
Imagine we had had him a year or so longer, things could have been so much different. Not only can he do it all, he gives the base for others to play. What with Scott and Massengo, that midfield is so exciting.
