Ok! So who is the other semi/who have we got in the final?

Ipswich v Coventry

I’m waiting for City v Ipswich final with Mark Ashton trying to high five fans in the front row running round the pitch…

Thanks. Fella. Will it be a neutral venue?

Think it often comes down to who can just make their stadium available some of the time, ie teams who want to relay their pitches asap may not be able to. If both can there will be some sort of procedure.

What is the outcome for the successful side in the final?  I know nothing of this so i'm unsure if it is a promotion, kudos or curly wurlys.

Because we have a category 2 academy I don't think promotion is possible and thus it is just kudos (and presumably a trophy!)

Ipswich and Coventry both cat2 so no promotions this season if thats the case.

Birmingham went up last season - cat1.

So, if we win the final do we get promoted. If so, what league in to?

Ignore me. Question already answered.

I literally only watched about 5 minutes of that game. But in those 5 minutes, all of the attacks were coming from Idehen.

He’s not short of confidence is he?

He did well when he came on against Huddersfield I thought.

Certainly has something about him. I'm surprised that a L1 or L2 club didn't pick him up after the left Grimsby.

His agent must have done well to get him a trial at Brimingham after that.

He really does have a coolness and no little class. Just one mistake today when he let a ball run under his foot but we were sharp to defend it so it didn't come to anything.

That’s because Birmingham applied for and got given Cat 1 status

Quite a large difference in outlay isn't it?

Given Birmingham's financial issues, and a ground that is half shut for safety issues; i'm surprised they would the money to get that application over the line.

Looks like they're just going to lose Bellingham's brother Jobe , for next to nothing as well. He played them (16 years of age) at the weekend.

You don't get given Cat 1 status. It's quite a commitment financially and a number of criteria have to be fulfilled or you'll lose it.

You still have to apply for it after proving you can meet the criteria. Cat 1 was supposed to be gold standard, the criteria is going to be upped to boot some teams back to cat 2 as well

I accept you have to apply for it but given our current finances I can't see us sending in the forms at the moment.

The costs don’t get included in FFP, so as long as your owner is prepared to meet those costs there is no issue FFP-wise.  Ignoring the costs, I only see upside….but I’m not well versed in the real detail.

I’ve opened the can of worms @Lrrr and @billywedlock, sorry!!!

Not sure we’d want to go for whatever criteria they up it to anyway, as far as I know Birmingham are coming straight back down to cat 2, Reading probably and perhaps the likes of Stoke and Derby too, as said they apparently want less cat 1 teams

Cynical perhaps but they probably don't want anyone in Cat 1 outside of the Premier League.

I think Blackburn and Leeds would be fine, they’re div 1 and competing, I think it’s the hangers on at the bottom of div two who seem to do it to play the big teams/boost their rep for youngsters coming in

I think Leeds would argue they're not Championship yet (even if they're destined to be)

Think Swansea were another who went down to Category 2 in the last couple of years.

Anyway promotion aside, well done to the side. IF we can get Category 1 I say go for it but sounds like there are a few hurdles to jump through. We have already produced players both with a good impact on the pitch and subsequently off it (the fees for academy products). Seems a pretty good idea if possible IMO.

Swansea was a case of their new owners wanting to claw back money wherever they could

Thanks. Thought that might have been the case.

Without banging on about financial issues much, Derby's current position speaks for itself, wonder how secure their Category 1 status is.

There are requirements on top annual financial commitments. If I remember correctly one of them is to have a full size in door pitch, not sure why, but hey-ho!

There is, I believe, a full size playing area indoors at the Bristol Bears training ground about half a mile from ours. I also remember that there is a pool there for water recoveries from injury. All owned by one person, SL so free to use by City, just as our facilities are free to Bears.

There is and I believe the Management were under the impression that having that access was sufficient to get Cat 1, but the FA want it to be exclusively ours which is ridiculous really.

The Bears' indoor pitch is not full sized.

Final is next Tuesday at 7pm at AG. Free entry to ST holders

Bloody typical. I'm not big on going out, so when I arranged a meal at The Ashton for next Tuedsay evening a little earlier, I didn't think I'd end up double booked. Oh well, I'll see if things can be rearranged for the day after, but if not I guess I'll try to rearrange the meal out instead.

It was Man Utd v N. Forest but yes what an incredible crowd, more than double the previous record crowd of 34,000 for a final, about 5500 Forest fans there aswell.

Could someone please advise if A8 disabled section is open on the evening, I've messaged Jerry SLO with no response,

Excuse my ignorance but I am not familiar with the numbering for disabled areas, but if it is at the front of the lower Lansdown stand then yes it will be open

I know Jerry is very busy at the moment, no doubt he will pick up your post shortly

Can anyone throw some light on ‘pay by card’ ?

Is there a facility for this on the day ?

or does it mean getting a ticket beforehand as normal (Can’t find anything on the website)

I’d think you’ll have to goto ticket office and pay

Amazing, yes.

As a side issue, the ref gave United a penalty for a foul that was a yard outside the area. It's as if Howard Webb never retired!?

I hope they are monitoring social media and getting an idea how many plan to go and have enough ticket windows open and enough stewards to open extra areas if needed. I’m wondering about parking as the likes of wickes probably won’t have any plans to accommodate.

Can’t imagine they’re re-stocked yet. I’m hoping they don’t have any, because it would make last week debacle even more of a debacle.

Judging by the fact the recent womens game at the ground was advertising the high sales for weeks / days before the game and on the day the club were massively under stewarded and also caught out with only originally opening one entrance I would say that there is a very high chance things will go badly

Personally I would get there in plenty of time if you want to see kick off

Normally they have a mobile card reader at the turnstile.
