3 year contract, ******* hell.

They make us look like we’ve always got value for money out of signings..

He can stay where he currently lives then rather than moving to Wales.
Good contract for him

Not only do we get rid of the biggest wastes of a wage in years and arguably our greatest ever underachiever, but to one of our biggest rivals as well!

Given the reception club legends like Pack and Flint have had playing for Cardiff one would think O’Dowda (who achieved less in six years then either of the aforementioned did in six games) will be ridiculed mercilessly next season.

Guaranteed to score on his debut, and then go anonymous after a month with them.

They will be looking at that highlights reel and thinking they've signed a world beater.

The reality is, that a number of the "Highlights" have him in an Oxford shirt, which just about tells you everything about what he's achieved with us over the last 6 years.

Ha ha they're gassing this up a bit ... goal and assists ... Good god.

Good news for us though as our rivals have got significantly weaker.

Am I the only who's feeling mildly sad at this, he came to us with an exciting air around him, and has shown sparks of excellence. However, through injuries and positional problems, he's never reached close to the potential I've longed for him to acheive.

By all means the right choice for us to let him go, but leaves me with a 'what could have been' feeling.

Maybe a little unkind?.............but for me he lacks the cojones to make it?   He is the runt of the litter, always injured or taking the easy option.  As i say, i am probably being unkind, but lets see how often he plays for Cardiff next season?  PS. Just read on the Post forum, that Callum states that at 27, he is just about to hit his prime?  Well that's that then?, because if COD ever hits anything?...............he's out injured for 3 months?

He left Oxford at the same time as Kemar Roofe and IIRC we were told Callum would end up being the better player of the two. Neither have really torn it up though - Roofe did well at Leeds to start with, went to Anderlecht and did OK but seems to have plateaued a bit at Rangers.

He`s had the better career out of the two though I would say.

I thought he would end up somewhere like there, he will suit their direct style of play. Plus he scored a screamer against them once.

At the end of the day his goals/assists/hookedathalftime stats are absolutely horrific and it was right that we got rid.

He is a Championship level player but only showed it here for about 3 months in 6 years.

He might do well at Caerdydd but it wasn't gonna happen for him here so its a good move for all parties I think

No you are right.

In true impartial Ian Gay "Stats prove everything" fashion. To do justice to COD maybe we need to look at his output from the previous season's sterling service with us:-

Yes.

I thought he'd be shite from day one and he's stayed here 50% longer then he ever should have.

Roofe would have been the infinitely superior signing.

Together with Reid and Patterson we could have played tippy tappy pass and move for fun, rather than just for a few months at the end of 2017.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, mind.

Lee Tomlin has called him a snake on Instagram! ?

O’Dowda meanwhile says of signing for Cardiff:

“I’m at a stage in my career where I’m hungry, I want to achieve as much as I can, and I feel as though I could be hitting my prime now. So, it’s all about kicking on with the right team, the right manager and a fantastic club."

So why are you signing for the wrong team, shite club and millwall slag manager then,  mate? Duh.

Mind you, if Tomlin's having a pop, you must be doing something right.

Simple Cardiff are desperate to sign ex city players. He follows a long line of them in resent years !
We can only hope that is as bad and injury prone across the Severn as he was whilst wearing a Bristol city shirt.

If he does as much for Cardiff as he did for us I think we’d still be left with no regrets about letting him go.

That really says it all I think.

I’ve always thought there was a player in there, still might be but I just don’t care, it wasn’t going to happen here and that’s been clear for years.

I think Tomlin's "snake" comment might be a round about dig at us, in that Matty Taylor was a "snake" when we pulled the Blue Fews pants down (intimating that we've lost out and Crapdiff have done well by picking COD up).

Three things from my perspective - 1) I'm glad COD is gone, so don't really care. 2) I reckon COD has pulled their pants down by securing a 3 year deal, and 3) I think Tomlin is a dumbo anyway (to the extent that if he told me it was raining I'd still want to look out the window to check).

Move on, we've got bigger fish to fry...?

I really liked COD and thanks for the memories. Different manager and different system. I don't think he kicked on enough after signing an improved contract but obviously injuries didn't help.

What is it with Welsh clubs and our ex players? We're obviously the envy of them to such an extent that one of them even changed their colour to red.

They wish they were English.

He thought it was a little opportunity for the desperate waster to feel relevant

Or a bit of light hearted banter between friends? I doubt Tomlin or any other footballer thinks posting an emoji on Social Media has any sort of relevancy to anyone.

I think our proximity is the draw for Cardiff & Swansea.

The former have previously signed Flint, Pack, Tomlin & Reid directly from us, the latter Korey, Paterson & Walsh.

Often comments and tweets in our favour when we play Cardiff

As ex City and Swansea he's taking the piss out of COD for joining them

There are plenty of other players wishing him luck with a single emoji….. not Tomlin though he couldn't resist…Classless Idiot….but then maybe I'm the idiot for giving him the reaction he craved.

I know what you mean but you could argue Freeman needed a change of scene and a fresh start to get his mojo back. He'd lost the plot here.

He did, and you are right it felt a good decision at the time but he was productive here and went on to be super productive at QPR. O'Dowda couldn't make the step up and we lost that trade. Was that an ashton signing or before his time?
