Kal Naismith Signed (Official)

Was extremely versatile during his time at Wigan.

Now looks a very accomplished centre back, who is comfortable on the ball. Loves to venture forward with the ball too.

If I'm being honest, I thought he would be out of our range after the season he's just had, so would be delighted if we managed to sign him.

Out of contract, been offered a new deal, versatile, just won their player of the season award.

Very logical signing.

Think we both mentioned him a couple of season’s back as someone we should look at.  Versatile.

Likely we’d pay more wages than Luton will too.

Could be a real option.

Heres his stats as a Centre Back.

Fairly sure he's good friends with Joe Williams too I believe.

Not that it means a great deal in football these days, but Joe may play a part in trying to get him here.

Yep, Kieran Maguire reckoned the average weekly wage for Luton's first 11 was £6k.

Firstly, I’m not usually the one to shout transfer rumours across this board. So I will just pass this on from what I’ve heard earlier today…

Apparently we are having talks with this lad. Swansea are another club that’s very interested by all accounts. I’m not sure what his contract status is with Luton, I haven’t really looked into it…

Just passing on.

Judging by the latest Twitter post, it looks like this could be confirmed in the next few mins.

A big well done if it is him signing. Sharing the news and confirmation within 2 hours is impressive.

  • The title was changed to Kal Naismith Signed (Official)

Wow! That's some signing for us.

He had a fantastic season, and has all the attributes we require at the back.

Very excited about the season ahead now.

If we manage to keep Klose, and add Kane Wilson we are in a great place.

Rinomhota would complete the business with minimal spend (comp for Wilson).

 Kal Naismith

Currently considering a new deal that the Hatters have offered the Scotsman, Kal Naismith’s future at Kenilworth Road could be pivotal.

Naismith enjoyed an excellent 2021/22 campaign, showing pure class when in possession and carrying the ball forward, whilst showing all the necessary defensive attributes to justify why he featured in a number of Team of the Seasons.

Possessing a wand of a left foot, his set-pieces have also caused chaos for opposing defences during this campaign. Showing Premier League ability, it would be no surprise to see top-tier interest emerging as the summer progresses.

I like that write up! from https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/2-luton-town-players-who-face-an-uncertain-few-weeks-ahead/

Could be the start of the Luton squad being completely dismantled.

Nige said they’d find it difficult to repeat this season, clubs would pinch their better players….didn’t think it would be us.  Crafty old Nige! ???

He appears to be the complete player who can perform in almost every position except goalkeeper.

So where do we think he will fit?

Left back? What will we do with Dasilva?

Centre half? Defensive midfield?

Excellent signing, someone comfortable on the ball who can bring the ball out from the back, and a really good set piece delivery. Not sure if he’s strongest in centre or left hand side of defence? Where did he primarily play at Luton this year?

In addition to that forum being like something from the dark ages, they seem to think we’ll both have a points deduction from failing FFP before and now, having failed FFP, will pay Naismith £20k p/w

Odd.

My god what is there forum. Sort it out lads, surely there’s one person in all of Luton who can design a website.

Granted computers only reached Luton in 2017.

It seems a very good signing.Welcome to Bristol, Kal!

Maybe Baker's replacement?

Perhaps but I think I see Nigel's cunning plan. Team for next season taking shape:

Bentley/Kalas/Klose/Baker/Atkinson/Cundy/Davies/Horsfall/Idehen.

So just 2 more centre backs needed and we're sorted.?

It’s a good signing for sure. Very impressive.  Mainly played left centre back of a three last season but can clearly play left back as well. Don’t think it points to any particular formation ideas from Pearson.  From what I have seen I would say he’s more of a left back than a centre back in a flat back four though
