One year with further year option. I guess the club can activate that if required.

Wonder where this puts Cundy/Kallas/Baker. Surely 1 or 2 are off/retiring.

I’ve wondered for a while whether Kalas has been told he can bugger off if his agent can find a club to pay the required wedge?

I think that sort of move will start with the agent speaking to the club and saying, 'if you would like me to find Kalas another club for you, my fee will be 250k, payable on completion of any transfer'.

With the agent already having half a dozen clubs willing to take him on.

Obviously the agent will have likely had the reverse conversation with any clubs interested in signing him.

Maybe so but if the money stacks up from FFFP perspective I think we might go for it?

If we are playing 3 at the back we probably have space for 5 senior cbs plus Idehen or Towler. Unless Pearson sees Pring as an LCB option.

Am sure the plan will be to move on Vyner or Moore if there are takers and I feel both Klose and Naismith signing means the writing is sadly on the wall around Baker. That leaves space for Atkinson, Cundy and Kalas in the squad but I imagine Kalas would only want to stay - and we would only want to keep him - if he was first choice. He could well be but that is not certain…

Naismith - Klose - Atkinson - Tanner is a tidy back 4.

I reckon we'll continue with 3 centre backs especially at the beginning of the season. Although he's not going to pick his own position in the team Naismith in his interview said he's versatile but predominantly coming in as a CB. Just my hunch.

Yeah possibly, think long term we’ll go to a back four. Does seem unnecessary to move away from a back three when it’s been working though.

The club doing some very satisfying business this year.

Good solid professional signings and Nige building the type of squad he wants.

If we can get Kane Wilson over the line that would be great but I want a horrible, nasty, time-wasting, streetwise defensive midfielder in, who coaches refs through games and knows how to win.

We can then look forward to at least 8-10 places up the league then in my opinion.

Great news, a class act.

Thought that he’d sign (not convinced Cundy will) but with Naismith on board, Atkinson improving & the Kalas situation to resolve, we’re in a better place.

Great signing, age dosnt matter as much when you can read the game as well as Timm. A sensible contract length too as gives him the chance to impress and get 2nd year.

I do think the only thing keeping us from going to a back 4 last year was the lack of right back options, perhaps im slightly "old school" but always thought a 352 formation was too defensive minded and playing a 433/4231  would probably suit players we currently have at the club.

I think Gattuso has retired ?

This is good news...must herald a few outgoing too. Glad we kept Klose, mix of experience and quality- can pass it on to younger CBs too.

On the books we have- and not including the potential for Cundy to remain...and one or two of these can play more than one position.

Players who can play CB as 1st position

Kalas, Atkinson, Baker, Klose, Moore, Idehen,

Players who can play CB but other bits too

Vyner, Naismith, Towler

Think Pring has slotted in at CB before once or twice- but not enough for consideration.

Turning into dad's army again,

Someone had to stick a negative comment,

Still we now have strength and depth at centre back

Add a right wing back (Wilson)

And a combative centre mid, the we could be in for a decent season,

We didn't have problems going forward but did at the back it seems we are addressing this

Yes, 3 decent signings, but IMO more almost as important is getting players in early. Gives Nige a head start on proper plans for next year.
If we could shift some off of the wage bill too, that could free up even more space and money.

Don't want to get ahead of myself, but next season could be exciting, in a good way.

Can’t Naismith play that midfielder you’re referring to?

Great news.

The Beatles have long been hoping Timm would sign a new City deal and have penned a song to share their delight.

Klose, ooh-ooh-ooh

Let me whisper in your ear, ooh-ooh-ooh

Say the words you long to hear

I’m in love with you

Ooh-ooh-ooh

:) :city:

I’m very disappointed with this.

I prefer the threads that go on for 20+ pages before the signing is announced. You know the sort of thing - rumour, speculation, he’s going to sign, oh no he’s not, oh yes he is etc.

Not sure why we’d get rid of Kalas

???

It will cost us over £3m in 22/23 if we let him run his contract down.

Id happily sit him down and extend his contract, reducing his wage in the process, but if he won’t do that, it’s exactly the same as Massengo…except dearer! ?

That’s pretty much why I bleat on the OS being the only reliable source…………..:dunno:

Don't think the club should try hard to persuade him to stay apart from the season alongside Webster (which was on loan) he"s been average at best and poor on many occasions. Not been worth the fee or the salary maybe it would be good for both parties if he moved on.

I still believe he may be one of the 4 players that Pearson mentioned he had spoken to on sound of the city.

A more even wage structure points in that direction.

Still think it was Moore, Vyner, Palmer and Bakinson.  Think those are the players with “no future, I’ll get rid of them” type comments.

Kalas, I’m sure he’d like to stay, but agree that he’d want to bring his salary down too.  If he doesn’t want to do that then he’ll try to move him on, but different category to the other four, imho.

The OS is reliable, but where is the fun in being reliable? The forum is much more fun, as it’s crazy.
