Harry Cornick Signs (Confirmed)

Henry Armstrong (reporter) is reporting on twitter that we have made an enquiry for Harry Cornick (Luton).

As you may or may not know, I'm a big fan of Cornick. I think he would suit us perfectly, if we are to set up in the same shape as last season.

Henry Armstrong has a reasonably good success rate with his rumours. Albeit he only has 1,000 twitter followers.

As mentioned on the striker scenario topic, he has gone on a bit of a rumour spree tonight so will be interesting to monitor how many are successful in the upcoming days, and whether there is anything in the link to Cornick.

Can't imagine Luton being keen on doing business with us after their hissy fit over Naismith.

We didn't deal with Luton over naismith, he was about to become a free agent and left on his own,

It was their rather trivial complaint that when we were talking to him he was still technically under contract to them so we should have told them. Though Nathan Jones knew he wasn't going to sign a new contract all along so theirs was a silly overreaction.

So if they are still mid-tantrum they might not want to play ball.

He's ooc according to transfer market.

Yes please, fine player.

Their contract situations are invariably reported incorrectly.

Luton have signed 2 Barnsley strikers, Woodrow & Morris, they also have Adebayo, who had an excellent season & Cameron Jerome.

I would not be surprised if they were prepared to sell, but wonder where we would get the money from, as I doubt he’s OoC.

Well this one has piqued my interest.

No idea on the twitter account…looks to be consolidating other stories…apart from this one, which I haven’t seen anywhere else.

Would like it to be true.  Mobile, physical striker, who runs the channels.

Under contract by Luton (on their retained list), so I’m sure Luton would expect a fee.  At 27, a 3 Yr  deal might appeal, and I’m sure Naismith will sell the club to him.

Looking forward to seeing if this develops any further.

Wonder what we’d be looking at in terms of a  TFR fee @Davefevs (if there’s any truth in the rumour)

Here’s the question. If we had money (which we would need for cornick) would you prefer him or Rudoni who hasn’t yet officially signed with Huddersfield I don’t think?

It's a good conundrum.

Rudoni has more long term potential, and his future value could soar.

However Cornick is ready to make an impact now. This would have a positive knock on effect as it would free up Wells to move on (if there's a taker), and we lower the wage budget in the process, whilst gaining a player more suited to our system.

Rudoni.

I like Cornick - in fact we first recommended him to City in 2012 when he was playing for Christchurch, before Bournemouth took the chance on him.

But right now, if they were a similar price, I’d take Rudoni every day of the week.

Much higher ceiling with Rudoni

Perhaps there's been a development regarding Wells?

That’s clearly one of a few possibilities & frankly the most palatable, as opposed to Semenyo or Scott leaving.

Which of course is true! However he turned down a contract with them which caused many prams to be relieved of their rattles in Bedfordshire.

To me, would suggest cornick is a non-starter as if we haven’t gone for rudoni (likely due to having no cash) the same will be the case for cornick.

Why are you so sure we didn’t go for Rudoni?  We don’t conduct our transfer business overtly.

I’m not saying we did btw, but it is perfectly possible we did go for him, but he chose Huddersfield for whatever reason.  We aren’t every players first choice are we?  It may be we didn’t go for him because we don’t need that type of player, but do need Cornick.

We’ve just got £250k for Reuben McAllister ???

I can’t win really. On one hand I say we should have gone for him and I’m told we have no cash and who’s to say we were ever in for him, and on the other hand, maybe we had gone for him ??‍♂️

either way it doesn’t matter. It’s another we have or are likely to miss out on due to our own shortfalls as a club. On to the next one wherever @Harry and the likes can find them from to bring to the clubs attention

That’s the problem, you’re trying to give yourself a definite answer / rationale to an unknown situation…and taking other people’s views (OTIB, media, etc) as being the gospel…made even harder when two people have opposing views, so not knowing who’s right - probably neither!!  We all do it to an extent.

I’d be delighted with this.

Cornick is a player I really like. A very intelligent player, good movement and can chip in with goals.

Similiar to Weimann in some ways, but with a low centre of gravity. Keeps the ball very close to his feet when dribbling (like Scott), which allows him to shift balance easily.

He's 27 so in and around prime age. As we know if fit and in form that can stretch for longer.

Decent numbers, this season not quite so much granted.

Has a good availability level or has done.

Wide attacker isn't he?

Knows the League.

Ticks a number of boxes for sure- could then see Weimann-Wells-Cornick for some games or maybe Sykes-Weimann/Wells-Cornick for others.

Lansdown will be choking on his cornflakes when he reads about that.

Looked decent whenever I’ve seen him play, however 2 goals in 22 games this season? What’s happened there? Has he been in and out the side much?

If you looked at Semenyo's stats for this season you'd see he has 5 in 22.. but looks to be leaving for 10m+.

Doesn't always factor in the whole context (inclusive of injury, form or anything else).

Was checking Luton's top scorers and assists and see Carlton Morris has played 28 11 goals 6 assists in the league this season to Cornick's  played 22 2 goals and 4 assists. Out of interest how much would Morris cost do people reckon? Im guessing way too much but would be interesting to see?

Well if Woodrow is keeping him out of the team it’s a big no thanks from me!!

I have previous here, Woodrow is a good player, clever player.  Morris’s signing and partnership with Adebayo is now their first choice.

Morris cost them £2m+ in the summer and I suspect his price is rising.
