This will be his best position I’m sure but for this season the two midfield positions will be taken by James and Williams if both fit so I’d like to see Scott starting slightly ahead of them.  I see Scott as very versatile who can slot into midfield two if we have an injury and can also cover Weimann and even Semenyo if they are out.  An excellent player to have in a squad.  May well start 35-40 games this season across 3 positions

Getting concerned that Vyner might start vs Hull to be honest. He is too vulnerable and a weak link

Nah, he’s keep Klose on the bench to use his experience with Towler and Wood should the back 3 be changed in the second half.  Just like against Exeter.

Just watching the highlights of the win at Plymouth now, about 5 mins in...we were opened up quite a few times weren't we! Or at least conceded a reasonable number of chances- still 5 mins of it to go...hope it was an earlyish flurry, or flurry in the 1st half.

Bell assist, Wells goal at Plymouth- thought they worked that well.

I hope so but with the season starting next week and this being our last game. I reckon he will be starting next week.

There is an in-house game next week…behind closed doors obviously….Pre-season being executed to plan, and also not giving away next week’s line-up.

Be good to see how Naismith and Atkinson work

They’ve partnered each other several time in pre-season already, or are you saying you’ve just not seen the games???

Judging by the first 2 and a half pages I'm predicting full on meltdown if we lose this.

Looks that way doesn’t it.

Chill everyone….the aim of pre-season is to be in the best shape for Hull C in 7 days time…not Bournemouth today!

Totally disagree. A teenager playing in a number of positions is a good thing.  And it will add value.

You also need to account for the strengths of more established team mates.

He’s proven he can play in a number of positions already, last season. We need more than 4 Gs and 2 As this season. If he can push 10 goals, which of course would be helped playing in his strongest position over a long period of time, we will get huge bids next summer.

I can’t understand all the confusion in earlier posts about who was playing wing back.
The team sheet is quite clear. Every game pre-season they’ve listed CB,CB,CB,RWB,CM,CM,LWB in that order.

Quite obvious from the team sheet that it’s a back 3 with Sykes at wing back and Scott in the front 3

Dasilva's opening shot goes out of stadium.........no change there then?   Don't get me wrong i like Dasilva, but he is incapable   of shooting on target....Ha1

Their stadium is about as tall as Jay Dasilva, so maybe not too bad in hindsight ???

So close!

Almost the opener for the Cherries!

Solanke drives into the box and cuts inside, allowing the chance for Christie to shoot at goal.

He fires towards the far corner where a Bristol City defender manages to just about scramble it clear, although Bentley is needed to intervene too.

The chances keep on coming as Solanke has another shot blocked before a dangerous corner is whipped in, Lerma not quite able to turn home.

Sykes with it off the line

Wow, what a block!

Mark Sykes... take a bow!

Bournemouth look certain to score as Solanke turns Naismith in the box and plays it to Christie. His shot is heading for the bottom corner with Bentley beaten but Sykes is on hand to get something on it. Bentley then scoops it off the line.

Bournemouth lining up as:

                 Travers

Mepham / Lerma / Hill (matty’s son)

Smith / Cook / Billing / Zemura

         Christie / Rothwell

                 Solanke

James Hill was a very interesting signing for Bournemouth. Reputedly a 7 figure sum and a club record sale by Fleetwood Town.

Scott fires wide

Bristol City have been kept pretty quiet following the opening 15 minutes but have a shot on goal through Scott.

The 18-year-old drifts inside from the right and cuts a shot towards Travers' left-hand post, the Cherries shot-stopper sprawling across his goal to try and make the save.

However, it bounces just wide.

Limited footage and appreciate the links. Looks like we are playing some decent football. Scott making a difference , can’t wait until Semenyo is back

Trouble is when Semenyo is back Scott will go back to wing back where he's less effective

Why will Scott go back to being a wing back when we have brought in lads who can play that position? Tanner & Wilson will be vying for that spot now, we don’t need AS to fill in there.

Or would we drop martin

Could mix and match for some games although Martin has done nothing wrong and gives us an important dimension- can he start 46 games again though? That said the winter break will help with this.

Wonder if a CM pair of James and Williams, with Scott as a '1' behind Weimann and Semenyo could work at times. It's a dilemma though with this back 3 with wingbacks setup!

If we went 4-3-3 at times or a version of...

Quote

Tanner/Wilson pick 2 CBs DaSilva

     Williams Scott James

                  WSM

Okay that's a bit loosely aligned but a starting point, framework.

I'm hopeful Sykes like Scott won't be a regular at RWB although maybe I'm underestimating his versatility.
