We`re back! That strange time of the season where you don`t know who you want to win or lose.

Josh B starts for Burnley, good to see our Michelle back after the summer and also pleased Jobi MacAnuff is still on the coverage.

I know mate, have been looking forward since the end f the last season. ?

It's fallen perfectly as I cannot endure that steaming pile of poo that is the 100...

I hope to maintain my perfect record of never having seen a ball bowled in that Micky Mouse shite.

I have an irrational dislike for Burnley, no rhyme or reason for it so will take a Huddersfield win as a good start to the season.

In truth, it should be an interesting measure of where both teams are, given the departures from both squads.

You weren’t on the Inbetweeners coach we’re you.  :laughcont:

I reckon they will win the league on a serious note

Seasons curtain raiser! Happy days. Here we go again.

On these two teams, I think Hudds will fall off big time this season after losing O’Brien, Toffolo and Corberan. I think we’ll finish above them.

Burnley between 4th and 8th.

Jobi MacAnuff was just making the point that he could see similarities between them and Barnsley the season before last.

I can’t see further than Watford or Norwich, but Burnley will no doubt fancy their chances.

Personally I hope they do a Blackpool, without the bounce back.

Yea I could see it maybe going that way. I think they have too much to go down but I probably said the same at the start of that season about Barnsley.

Right on cue, 1-0 Burnley. Deserved.

Bit underwhelmed so far. Frenetic. Being played at 100mph, but very little composure. Only a quarter of an hour gone, so “early doors “, but not a lot of quality on show in the opening exchanges. (IMO, of course...)

(And naturally, just as I post that, Burnley score a well-taken goal).

Have you never watched the Championship before?

Burnley look very good

Yes, somewhat awkwardly for me. Since I typed my post above, they have taken complete control of the game. Must learn not to be so premature, as many of my past girlfriends would doubtless agree.

Won’t be the first and won’t be the last Cliff. That’s what makes football great. Opinions

I am Interested to see how the five subs will work this season. I have this vision of Alex Neil going into full shithouse mode the last 15 mins of every game throwing on a wib ever few minutes.

I think you can only do it in three substitution rounds to minimise time wasting

Still only allowed to make subs at 3 points in the game though. So can bring on 2 / 2 / 1 at a time and not 5 subs 2 minutes apart

Half time doesn’t count towards that count tho

I’m still waiting for the Lee Johnson “all five substitutions at once” trick but I don’t think anyone has done it yet

Burnley look very decent, streets ahead of Huddersfield

Complete change by burnley in style of play. Don’t underestimate Huddersfield hang over though. Probably still feel cheated after the play off final , second penalty shout nailed on imo. The manager that transformed them from 20th the previous season to play off finalists walked out on them . Then they sell two of their best players a week before the season starts.
kompany couldn’t of hand picked a better opponent tonight

Huddersfield fans booing their team off at HT. Behave FFS! It`s the first game, you`re playing a side that is very good and you`re only one down.

I reckon some would boo 1 nil to Sunderland at half time, but you are right one of the favourites a bit daft

You can’t do that I think It’s 5 subs in three slots of the managers choosing

After losing two key players and the gaffer that was as good a showing that could be expected against promotion favourites, especially a football hero wanting to make his mark as a manager. With that said Hudd should've got more behind the one solid attack they had.

Your probably right about Huddersfield, promoting the Assistant usually ends in disaster too as we know all too well! Must say I wasn't expecting much from Burnley given Kompany didn't do very well with Anderlecht but they look so fluid in attack with players swapping positions throughout and their full backs are practically Wingers.

As we are aware, coming back after losing a play-off final is a deflating task. The loss is still lingering, and players and fans know deep down the almighty effort it took to get there won’t realistically be repeated. I can see Huddersfield struggling this season.

Burnley look good, like our Nige Kompany speaks a lot of sense around culture and recruitment. He actually seems quite old school in his approach. In a weird way he could be a good fit for Burnley, although given their squad and budget he can’t be truly soaked in praise until they perform in the division above.

Movement is very good but how much is that down to Huddersfield being rabbits in the headlights . If burnley are still opening teams up like this in October fair enough .

also , there’s no way they have this tempo 15-20 games into the season . 38 games kompany is used to in the prem. don’t know how many they play at a slower pace in Belgium . This pace for 46 games. No chance

They’ll just yo-yo in the league. One season relegation flirts, one season play off contenders.

Like most teams in this league without Parachute Payments, you get your one chance every 5 or 6 years to reach the promised land with a good season where it all comes together. If you take it then your club is transformed overnight, if not then its all about staying in the Championship until the next oppurtunity arises. They are in the same boat as us in fairness.
