Always the way. I remember ordering a couple of a gallons of scrumpy in the late 80s or early 90s from a lad in work who came from Cheddar. I think he sourced them direct from a farm. I could barely stomach that either. In fact, I think the fumes were enough to get me drunk. I still shudder recalling the experience. Thanks Phil B. Recipe changed with the design alterations on cans (more filled out with artificial stuff and sugars). Also it isn’t necessarily the ‘recipe’ changing which can reduce a ciders quality but the process becoming increasingly commercialised and hurried to meet demand. Red-Robbo
The "Thatcher's Gold" song always irks me somewhat, when I hear it at the Gate. Might as well celebrate Vimto.

Porto Red
I'm never able to comprehend the mindset that eulogises the likes of Gold and Katy, when there exists such a blessing as Henry Weston's Vintage

Robbored
My favourite cider is Stowford Press - made by Weston’s. Its lush and a good session cider. Second favourite is Thatcher's Dry, unfortunately not available in cans otherwise I’d have some in the fridge at home!

And it’s certainly different from the fizzy filtered bottled stuff that even the local makers produce.

Herta
Gold doesn’t even taste like cider anymore, it’s just a weak watery sweet pint of piss water. Thatchers being the cider at the ground is the worst part of a match day. It’s just vile cheap crap.
