What podcasts, what assumptions? Simply asked for memories of a game. Not the first to tell you port, you are way too uptight

But what day Louie? I have no idea what you are referring to. I know which Bruce, he has been here a few times, but I can't remember anything particular about any of them.

Look at the replies, I am not the only one confused, it was clearly a fun day for you but the rest of us are in the dark.

My car was in the place specially reserved for me as first team coach. I drive a Jaguar XJ8, 3.2, the sports version. It’s a very nice motor; 3.2 litre AJ-V8 all alloy engine. Classic colour interior theme, fluted leather seats, contrast colour keyed facia, figured walnut veneer. As good a motor as you can hope to drive. But not a car you’d choose when trying to follow a Ford saloon in a discreet manner…

He's obviously referring to Bruce Grobbelaar (although I've no idea why he could have just said that)

I can't remember any game where the whole (or even large numbers) of the East end were waving fake tenners at him.

His match fixing allegations came fairly late in his career - so if it's the FA cup vs Liverpool games, then I think he's totally over exaggerating seeing 1 or 2 people doing it..!

It would probably make sense to name the fixture, if he wants info on a particular fixture.

Odd behaviour.

Always liked people who brought props to games. I gleefully took a fake tenner off a bloke in the east end that day to wave at hruce, he didnr let it bother him one bit tbf. My main memory from this game is him catching the ball behind his back, anyone have any memories or footage from this game please.

Good game, good game!

Not me

I couldn’t afford one

I had a fake fiver

I had a real tenner pretending to be a fake one as I couldn't get the pretend ones.  So realistic, I even conned the bloke next to me when we swapped fake tenners! ?

Did you mention the east end being anywhere else than Ashton Gate ?

I don't remember any fans, or hearing of any fans, waving fake tenners at a player but I do remember spectators waving at Steve Jones when he was subbed early by Pulis, and he had a fake tan.

I don’t remember Pulis ‘bronzed up’

Always thought he was a pasty (Welsh) git

* Can we also try and keep the thread on track please

So, Grobbelaar was first accused of match fixing in November 1994.
At that time he was at Southampton and didn’t play a fixture against Bristol City in that season

He played for Plymouth in the 96/97 season. We played a 0-0 draw at Home Park on 19 October 1996. Bruce played in this match and there were a number of fans in the away end who were waving money at him. I can definitely confirm that, as I was there.

In the return fixture at Ashton Gate, on 26th April 1997, Bruce didn’t play. Here are the goals from that game. Bruce is not the goalie.

So, it is possible that someone was handing out fake tenners in the East End that day, but they would never have been able to wave them at Bruce, as he wasn’t playing.

In summary, cash was waved at Bruce at Home Park, but definitely not at Ashton Gate, as he wasn’t playing.

The OP mentions the whole of the EastEnd waving tenners at him.

Unless it was away fans waving tenners at their own goalkeeper that wouldn’t have been us in 97.

Tooth fairy? Father Christmas? Easter Bunny?
Who are these people you mention? I’ve never heard of them. Did they also play for Plymouth? Was it when Warnock was there? I can’t imagine someone known as a fairy or bunny would have played under Warnock!
