Coventry City away match thread

It's always good to get a point but at this point we really really need some wins or we're going to get in trouble. Another game where we've had good chance but not taken them and dropped points to poor defending. A better performance than many but still not clinical enough where we need to be.

Very good point. Two huge away performances back to back off the back of a lot of negativity.

Anyone who thinks these lot aren’t playing for Pearson, or that we are ‘sleepwalking’ after these last two games just have an agenda

Agreed. Nobody is not trying their hardest

The problem is our performances at home.  Birmingham at AG is a big game.

We’re gonna go over a month without a league win. I think we can be better than this.

Some really good performances but it’s hard to be too pleased while our league position stays so precarious!

Fair result overall. Thought Coventry edged second half and us the first. Getting there in singles at the moment.

Its a balance between fresh legs and disrupting how they are doing, but wish NP had a little more confidence in the bench. Last ten we were hanging on a bit as some were a bit knackered. Andi like at Millwall our best chance to win it, but far from a push over last couple of matches.

Another important , solid performance. Lots of "8's".

Max's handling was brilliant, Pring forcing us up the left excellent but my MoM was Vyner. On a booking and he timed tackles brilliantly and covered everything.

Hope Semenyo gets some confidence from the 90 & a goal as I feel too many balls just go past him.

Overall a good point, possibly deserved more.
We do need to start winning soon though.

Sides around us had a bad day, Rotherham lost (1 win in 12 now), Cardiff lost, Huddersfield lost.

Need to get back on track at home but think Wigan, Blackpool & those 3 sides are all poorer than we are.

Good to get Antoine back amongst the goals, too.

No league game for a fortnight now, let’s see what we look like by then.

Solid performance. That's two good performances away from home against good teams where we were arguably the better team in both games. Still think we need to do better with our chances and when on top, but you can't take away the desire and effort from the team. I'm not overly concerned with our position- COYR!

It is a Shame we couldn't make more of our chances espcially in the 1st half and do better with corners as Naismith did put some very good deliveries into the box .

Still suspect in defence but we did very good to limit Gyokeres no real chances but he was a handful.

Another solid away team performance, on balance  a draw was probably the right result. Our defense was very well organized and uncompromising, Vyner had an excellent game, Max looked very comfortable, there were a couple of uncharacteristically sloppy passes from Alex Scott which could’ve caused danger.

The point today and the one against Millwall + the overall team performances have been very much more encouraging and in both games we have shown great spirit, determination and commitment.

As always well done the traveling Cider Army.

Rotherham, Blackpool, Wigan, staying above those three does the job. I would also throw Hull in to the mix. Gut feel Cardiff and Huddersfield will be ok.

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but we actually still have Hull, Wigan, Rotherham and Blackpool all to play at AG.

Watched most of the Cardiff game today, they’re really poor, O’Dowda was one of their better players.

Absolutely no goal threat at all, Semenyo, Wells & Conway look a stronger strike force to me.

Glad to begin the year avoiding a defeat, but these draws are not enough to make me feel confident about our survival: we need to pick some wins somewhere,  mainly by converting our chances in goals like we have been doing in recent past.

It won't be easy, because we know our weaknesses and it is - or should be - clear that we will have also to be stronger than referees dirty behaviour, but...COME ON CITY, we can do it!!!

One or two arrivals from the transfer market would obviously help too.

= 46 points in a season.  Relegation form sadly…

We didn’t start that run on a point a game, though did we?

I think for a side that looked defensively frail to start to avoid defeat was the first step, a bit like our first point of the season at Wigan started off a decent run.

Up to you what you think, I reckon we’ll stay up about 5th from the bottom.

Many mention our league position and the need to get wins but Millwall and Coventry away are tough places to go. I don't think you can expect wins at them places.

I think as a whole, games like today are important building blocks to what we are trying to achieve. We went a goal down but equalised and played so well we had Coventry fans booing at half time and full time.

That was a strong resilient performance and that's an important building block for us.

We also lost both corresponding games last season.

Lies, damn lies and statistics!

7 points out of 21 not good enough. But two positive away draws and probably the better side in both games this last week gives us a more positive outlook.

We lost the home game against Coventry too?

There is progress. Maybe not as quick as people would like but there is.

I think we are now slightly ahead in last season's equivalent games (by equivalent I don't mean number played but vs equivalent opponents). It is hard to say given 6 different teams ie which of Wigan, Rotherham and Sunderland equate to Barnsley, Peterborough and Sunderland.

Certainly performances as a whole are better.

I really don't understand the point of so many posters saying we need to win games rather than drawing them. That's bleeding obvious. I doubt that this squad could give much more than they have in the last two games - other than show a bit more composure in front of goal.

Likewise, it's 1 January, there's about 9 points between City and 6th. It's way early to be constantly bleating on about relegation. Please, lighten the flip up!!

Just got back from a weekend with the in-laws in Hull - they remain optimistic, reckon a few wins will put them in with a play-off shout, all off to Wigan tomorrow to witness their revival! The contrast with my eternal pessimism was stark!

Pearson post match:  started slow, disappointed to go behind. Excellent after that in terms of collective determination and effort. Put a very good home side under pressure for long periods.  Draw fair result.  Just couldn’t find that finishing touch. Magnificent defending second half. Need that every week. Performances like that mean we have a better chance of winning games.  Good for Antoine to score as has been frustrated recently.  Likes the fact we have options up top
