Recommended Posts

Scenario:

Digital season card :

Family turn up, Dad, Mum, Grandad, three kids. 4 of these have no phone. Dad goes in on his digital wallet, has to wait other side, select kid 1 ticket in wallet, scan it for kid 1, let kid 1 in, find kid 2 ticket in wallet, scan it for kid 2, let kid 2 in etc etc. how long ffs

Plastic Season card:

Family turn up , Dad (or Mum) dish out tickets away from turnstiles, all go straight through turnstiles in line...

Watch the queues

Should be option for card or digital, or both

Easy. Mum and Dad have tickets on their phone. Grandad has a plastic card as do the kids ( most premier League clubs issue plastic card to under 18 /16's I suspect we will do the same).

Quick Query, not involving the digital side of the ST’s.

As season tickets are available to purchase on Monday, if someone buys a new seat, will there old one be available after they purchase a new one?

Not immediately no, I don't think. I believe its after the move my seat and other deadlines have passed.

That's what a friend of a friend was told anyway

Ah. The long-forgotten traditional craft of making chip and pin cards Like thatching and dry stone walling all the old craftsmen have died out and the youngsters aren`t interested.

Twas a much simpler life back in the olden days.

City’s IT system has improved! For renewal, instead of having to do the usual log on process on the Bristol Sport website, the link in the text message I received took me directly to the page where I renewed. City are finding quicker ways of taking your money

Were you given the option of having a card “or” digital?

Looks like it will be seamless - once I manage to get the final member of the group in the list, who finally bit the bullet with a half season ticket. I have just double-checked that she is linked to me in the relationship section (I got her Man C ticket, so I know it worked then as well) - but she is not showing on the renewal page

Renewed. I guess the VIP option is something to do with eating in the Lansdown restaurant before games? Looking forward to the thread about getting a physical season card in about 4 months time.

I assumed the VIP season ticket option was that as well - although it could be for a ‘very important plastic’ season ticket ?

one phone call over lunch and was visible for me. You need a "Strong relationship" for season ticket renewals to be visible apparently. All done and very quick ?

You'd think so eh, but some years ago, whilst walking across Ashton Park towards the ground, I had a call from my friend's wife. She asked if I could check if (insert name here) had his phone. So I asked him & he dug into his pockets and pulled out the TV Remote Control! True story & anyone who knows me will probably (a) remember it or (b) easily guess who it was!

During lockdown I posted this on Facebook.

"Generally I feel I have coped well with lockdown, being furloughed and the new pressures that this has all brought. But then I get questions from my wife along the lines of “Is there a good reason you have put the salt pot in the fridge?”, and I begin to wonder........"

Don't worry. At least it wasn't taking up much room. You'll start to get frustrated when you find there's no room for the corn flakes.

No. That bit comes later, though not sure where or how

No option at this stage. The default is digital….and I guess you’ll have to contact them later for anything else.

Just renewed in S24! Has anyone collected their £6.87 cash back?

That's a scam. A paid for cashback deal. I think they charge you a tenner a month or something equally ridiculous. If they cared a bit more they wouldn't do that. Just make sure you don't click it by mistake. Does anyone have a ruleset in ublock origin/ad blocker of choice so this doesn't appear?

They've already confirmed physical tickets will be an option. Simples.

Unsurprisingly, I think people were hoping they'd coded it in to the renewal/purchase interface.

So where officially have you seen you can have a season card instead of digital perhaps if they’d coded in to renewals we could all share

So what’s a VIP season ticket

I was with someone today who was telling me he now has access to lansdown, Heineken lounge etc for meals and can hold business meetings there during the week etc... don't know if that relates to the above or not... I assumed he just had his wires crossed tbh when telling me

Any feed back how ticket sales are going

Not sure but as a member I've looked to upgrade to a season ticket holder again in the south stand but as it's a logistical nightmare,(as I was told over the phone) because current season ticket holders have until may to renew I cant book anything in that stand until that date. My question was why open to members before current season tickets have been renewed.

I’m holding fire on 3 for that reason.  As it is there’s no rush, so hopefully when the “lose your seat” deadline arrives more seats will open up

I'm doing the same as well,I phoned thinking there was a problem with the website again but no, They did say I could buy a ticket elsewhere in the ground and risk waiting until the south stand tickets open and move my seat if the seats come available in may.. That seems hard work and a risk so I'm waiting.

just renewed 3 ST's, not sure about going digital, the current system works well. Although the club can easily create a system for those who have a problem using, my concern is will it take longer to get in and increase queuing if people are messing with phones to enable access.

What's the benefit to the club? if as pointed out may cost the club to implement, maybe stop the sharing of tickets unless you are prepared to give someone your phone?

Wasn't a problem for the Man City game.

14,000 plastic cards don't need to be printed and posted. That must save approx £30,000 if the cards cost £1 each and postage is a similar price.

People had printed tickets as well for the man city game, so not just digital, also we don't know how the digital ticket may operate, its not necessarily just a pdf as per Man City.

It will be a scannable barcode on your phone. So no difference to scanning a barcode off a PDF.

The way people are reacting about this you would think that we were the first organisation in the world to think of such a thing as a digital ticket. It's been happening for years, from airlines concerts, and yes, many football teams with very few issues. We'll be fine.

You can just send them the ticket. It makes no difference at the turnstile if the ticket is a plastic card, a piece of paper or on your phone. Once the barcode has been scanned for a game and the person is admitted ,then any further attempts will be refused as the ticket has been used.

Guess we will have to wait and see if it is as you say like a ticket on your phone or something a bit smarter that is not so easily transferable. As I say I have no objection to it as long as it does not make entry slower (did not go to on of the FA cup games where there were lots of problems with entry, so unsure if it was ticket related)

I can't stress enough, it IS NOT going to be 'something a bit smarter'. Worry no more.

Q&A says this, so it will just be like bank cards and plane, train, tickets etc that you load to your Apple/Google wallet on your phone. So I expect we’ll have our season card sitting in the wallet that we can access to scan just like Apple Pay etc. No phone signal needed.

19. When will I receive my Season Ticket?
2023/24 Season Tickets will be digital so, prior to the start of the season, you will be able to add your Season Ticket to Apple/Google Wallet on your mobile phone. More information on how to do this will be issued in due course.

I take it, this stops other people using your season card whilst on holiday or can't make a game,

How can it make entry slower ? You scan your phone in the same way as you would your season card. If you are worried do a quick google search and look at what many other football clubs are doing. There is even a simple users guide on the Crystal Palace official site (I quote that as I suspect with the Phil Alexander now our CEO then our system will be similar to theirs).

Nope, just screenshot your ticket and send it to them. It’ll only work once though, so you cant send it to more than one person.

When my wife went to Wales v England she screenshot her ticket. On the app it flashes to show it’s been screenshot and they took her phone of her and scanned it. So if the phone was refused entry as the screenshot user had gone through they know why and refuse her entry and eject the other as well.

A quick google search shows that it should be possible to transfer it to a friends phone.

Yeh my mate got given a Man utd season ticket for the stretford end and they use digital tickets, had to just transfer it over via apple wallet somehow, but it is 100% possible

Yes, I agree. I'm still waiting for parking costs in the Winterstoke Road car park. Being on crutches I don't have to option to say, sod that price, I'll park in Ashton Road.

Last season was £320 for 23 home league games. This season could be as high as £25 per game or, an eye watering £575 for the season!

So no way will I renew (or not) until parking costs are confirmed.....

@RedM you seem to be well informed on possible options…guessing it’ll be something along the lines of an option of a) a physical card or b) print your barcode each game???

Suspect trying to cut the cost of producing 13k plastic cards and the postage costs, rather than anything sinister to stop you swapping it with mates game to game.
