Alex Scott - £25m to Bournemouth- Confirmed

Of course, he might simply have been saying “they’re singing your song Alex, it’s the last game of the season, go and take your applause”.

Definitely this, doubt Pearson will be joking with him like that if he was waving goodbye to the away fans after what he said about Massengo doing that last season

Was looking for bits of news about Scott etc. Apologies if already posted but a food article albeit from end of March.

https://theanalyst.com/2023/03/alex-scott-bristol-city-press-resistant-teenager/

For the chatter about Dortmund on here, nothing at all from their end. They already have a replacement in mind according to one report, someone called Enzo Le Fee.  Cannot say I know anything of him but he is 23, turned it in February according to a quick search.

Has something like this ever been written about one of our players? ?

There’s an argument to suggest that Rice, Bellingham and Scott in three years’ time could be the best midfield trio in world football. Hyperbole? Maybe. Within the range of outcomes? Certainly.”

I think it has been, around 30 years ago:

Christ that brings back some nightmares, and to think we swapped Thompson for Andy May ?

Made me laugh this.

Never forget that those Tuesdays finished second in the third division.

46th best team in the country.

Can't wait until they are averaging 16k again in mid table Champ as per usual

Yeh but he would be, what,  upward of £6m? So it makes sense to target AS and save a few quid, FFP and all that.

Wait, you mean somebody has explained FFP to Ashton at last?

Just having a read of the QPR forum.

https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/60217/city-surrender-provides-perfect-summation-of-qprs-dire-season--report

Quote

The five of them were stationed around the centre-piece star boy Alex Scott, a 19-year-old kid so far and above the standard of this match that he didn’t even have to pad up and pull his socks up to play in it. City played into, off, through and around him with mesmeric, comfortable ease in something crunching between second and third gear. A beautiful footballer, so obviously destined for bigger and better things, I could have happily sat and watched him glide around all afternoon and, such was QPR’s pathetically impassive approach to dealing with him and his team mates, that’s essentially what I got to do.

Looks like it's gonna be Wolves then.

Why is it?

I haven’t read anywhere which states Wolves lead the race.

Personally, he can do better than Wolves. Do not think it’s a club that suits him. For the sake of his own career and progression. Hopefully Brighton lead the way.

He would probably get a regular game with Wolves though so might not be the worse.

Best bang for buck would be a mid table Prem team who he will get game time with and hopefully will be sold to a top 4 tam in a couple of years with us having a tidy sell on.

Love the comment about Chris Martin being a vast land mass.

Marvellous:

And apt, finally, because it was against Bristol City. QPR did an hour here with Chris Martin up front, and only took him off when they did because if a land mass this vast stays this sedentary for this long you run the risk of somebody colonising it and holding elections.

To be fair, this is one of the most enjoyable reads I've had for a while.

Not just the result and description of our performance but found myself chuckling all the way through.

I'd like the author added to our summer transfer targets!

Consistently one of the best sites, certainly for match previews and reports.

Yep, very enjoyable.

I was going to post a thread about it on it's own but just decided to stick it in here in regards to the Scott comment. Article very complimentary of us throughout.

Agree.

Accurate, humorous and written with the passion of a real fan.

Think they’re where we were 5 years ago. Pity their supporters, apart from the ****hole with our flag. It’s a long old haul back to becoming average -with potential - again.

Excellent 10/10. Top of the class.

Liked this bit.

A “lap of appreciation” featuring all the stars of the year gone by saw Taylor Richards’ mum surpass her son’s pitch time at Loftus Road this season.

That's a tricky decision for Alex  - Wolves, Spurs, Brighton, Newcastle or Liverpool with premier league and even European football, or Ipswich in the championship? If ever you wanted the definition of a "no brainer decision" this is it.

P.S. As for Ipswich Mark Ashton having money to spend, I thought that Wonga went out of business some time ago.

This has been posted before but well worth posting again given the hilarious, Gas levels of delusion.

Ben Fisher said on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast yesterday that every Premier League club wants a piece of Alex. An overstatement perhaps but there has been so much media talk about him you'd think even someone in deepest Suffolk would have noticed.

Still, credit where it's due, £25m is indeed upwards of £5m!

I think Ipswich fans are about to find out the cost of players in the Champ and the pecking order.

They have some decent players don’t get me wrong, but they’ve recruited “the best for Lg1”, I’m not sure I see the plan for once they got up.

If I compare to Cotts / Burt, it was young, hungry players who they thought could step-up.

They've got several players signed since last summer who they’ve had to send out on loan, that they’ll need to find homes for to balance out the ins / outs.

Even though I hugely under-estimated Sunderland last summer, I don’t see a Stewart / Simms front line, capable of taking pressure off their back-line.

Looking forward to seeing their retained list.

But Ashton loves to “trade”…let’s watch the wage bill and amortisation grow and grow!

I don't believe you really want to end up as dumb as a brick.

I assume that's what Ketamine does to you, and vow that any 'Special K' I take in future will be served in a bowl with milk.

But on the other hand, following the logic through, we should be able to pick up Bellingham for under £20m. Genius.

Properly funny, too.

As we both know there is plenty of opportunity for gallows humour when you’re crap, but as a regular reader this season it has also mixed being fuming about their displays with insight into why & some laugh out loud comments.

Peerless.

Will make timeline around any move interesting, will someone try and get something wrapped up and organised before he goes? A good showing at the tournament would add millions on top of what will already be a big fee, if teams wait then you’re in June and a couple of weeks away from players returning for fitness tests etc if you’d want him incorporated into the group straight away

Great read.. My favourite but has to be

And this lot are only fourteenth. I certainly know which of these teams I’d be more excited about going to watch next season. Only one development club involved in this game. Streets ahead.

A brilliant and massively entertaining read from the Rangers fan.

I think I mentioned up the thread I sat in the Loft with my mates, a highly entertaining bunch, a couple of whom I’ve known 45 years (in case someone has something to say) The looks I got when I gave it a ‘Cmon You Rs’ were priceless!! ?

Felt a bit sorry for them as I didn’t think one or two of their players were that bad. However what was obvious pre match and post match is they haven’t got a lot to come through, where as what we have is clear!

One of my mates was telling me they are trying to put together a Cat 2 academy, the tone was clear (cat bloody 2) which of course I let them know that ours is Cat 2 and that is a pretty good standard.

I was asked in the Crown and Scepter about HNM a few times and one lad knew almost as much about us as I did. When I queried that he said, oh I’m just a sad bastard.!

Rangers really need to find something from somewhere for next season. The difference in our position compared to theirs was summed up by one bloke, who said you’ve got a shit load of kids coming through and we got nuffink.

One or two here should remember that as even other clubs think we finally have done something right!

Personally I don't disbelieve you. I know there are posters on here who are ITK for different reasons and you strike me as someone who has posted on here quite often without a track record of making up rumours so I don't see any reason to assume you're making things up now. I find Wolves surprising in the sense they don't immediately "feel" like the right move. However, that said, they've got Lopetegui there now who has some impressive pedigree and he seems to be ambitious for the club so it could be that Scott and his agent see it as a club where he can quickly get regular football under a manager who can develop him. I suppose we'll find out in the coming weeks.

If Scott does leave, the best case scenario for us is to get the deal done as early as possible so we've plenty of time to plan so - if there are legs in this - I hope that quickly becomes clear.

Wolves are very likely to be keen on Scott.  They were desperate to try to snatch him from us when he signed his first pro contract here.

Whether they bid and then get him is a different matter though!

Wasn't it reported that they tried to sign him in January?

From Lopetegui today:

“I need a long meeting with our chairman. We have to be ready to improve and take advantage over the summer. We need to improve, to be able to compete better next year. I am not going to talk about what will happen after the meeting … this year has been a very hard one and can serve as a lesson for all of us”

In other words, "give me lots of money to spend!"
