Alex Scott - £25m to Bournemouth- Confirmed

Recommended Posts

Another article…this time written by Starboy himself!  Is there no end to his talents!

Can’t believe that his family had to pay for the flights (Southampton) and flights and hotels (Bournemouth).  Their loss!!!

A lot is said of how hard it is for kids to come through the system to become a Pro, but its also a massive investment (not just financially) for the parents too. Funding weekly flights wouldn't have been cheap

Great interview. He comes across as a mature , level headed & sensible young man.

Sounds like Wolves might have a limited budget so surely that rules them out of buying a prospect?

I expect Neves and Traore will leave so that will give them extra funds.

There is the expectation within a timescale (24mths?) players live in the vicinity of the academy. Southampton do provide assistance with relocation to live within that radius. They are also a club that provides private schooling, which continues if a player leaves their academy for a year.

I don’t play Football Manager but for those that do, these are amazing stats (can’t believe that Fevs hasn’t already shared them! ;))

Perhaps £25m is a bit low! :)

I still think that West Ham is the most likely destination for Alex. Replacement for Declan Rice in their midfield.

Agreed and surprised this isn’t mentioned more. Spurs seem to think they are favourites but West Ham makes sense with Rice going.

Latest reports are they want Palhinha from Fulham. Seems like an ideal replacement for Rice.

Just watching the Brighton vs man city game , I'm loving  the way Brighton play , passing press and have players like Gross and Caicedo who play multi positions.   It would  suit Scott down to the ground , de zebri who has them playing fearless football .  Scott can play Rb, and pretty much everywhere across the midfield .

Some interesting stuff from Lopetegui, particularly the following:

"I am not asking for incredible signings from Real Madrid or Barcelona. I am thinking of signing good players, young players, maybe Championship players, I don't know."

So Wolves might be in the hunt for Alex, though only if they can solve their FFP problem first.

Ignoring wages. Neves to Barcelona for £40M all in this years accounts. Alex for £30M amortised at £6M per season if given a 5year contract. FFP net +£34M - sorted. ?

We're they after Gyokeres as well?

Maybe (though Barca are going to need to raise a lot of money through sales to stay within budget limits having run out of 'levers '). And I wouldn't expect to get £30m for Alex unless there is a bidding war.

But we don't know just how much Wolves are going to need to raise net to stay within the £105m over 3 years limit.

Their last accounts showed a £46m loss and they spent almost £200m this season so it might be substantial.

Apologies CP. I totally get your point, just being facetious.

A replacement for Rice? I like Alex but he's a long way off being a replacement for Rice.

Good article but it also shows what a sensible young man Alex is. Lots of youngsters have the ball skills necessary to play at high levels but don't have the skills of life outside of football. Alex is proving that he has that extra bit to succeed and I consider that the City supporters have been very privileged to see the last two seasons with Alex in the first team.

If he moves in the summer, so be it but if he stays another year, it could just be a very successful copy of 1975-6 that is the result.

For a young man Scott is a proper footballer. Can do all the pretty stuff but is happy to mix it. Another good performance for England at the u20 world cup tonight including not thinking twice about taking one for the team with his booking for levelling a Uruguayan to stop a, dangerous break.

First five minutes Scott got in a couple of digs to let them know they're in a game and continued that throughout the game.

His maturity, gained from over 80 Championship games, showed through.

He is a leader in that team.

FWIW Devine was doing it on his own when he scored….not sure who he was aiming it at.

The fact that the above pic shows three of them aiming it at someone else, might mean it’s to do with a player out of shot, rather than anything to do with Alex???

Hypothetical question. Luton just got promoted, if they came in with a 30 mill offer for Scott, would we accept and would he take that move?

wondering if they come after us now they will have a bit of money to spite us for stealing Naismith from under their noses

Very hypothetical as it's never going to happen.

Dont they have to upgrade their stadium too? Thats some of the budget gone too.

And they also want to build a new stadium completely. I’ve a feeling they are planning to take the Prem money and run, continuing with pretty much their current recruitment strategy and if relegation happens so be it.

I don't understand why Luton have to upgrade their ground, I know it's fucki9n horrible, but surely if it passes H&S for the EFL, why are the fans of Prem teams more special, do they have more delicate arses ?

Media needs among other things.

Probably, many of them are so far up their arses it must be uncomfortable.

I assume VAR facilities are included in the £12m costs but I have no idea how many cameras are required.

De Zerbi has confirmed he expects two key midfielders - Mac Allister and Caceido - to leave over the summer. I know they’ve a guy lined up from the Bundesliga to replace one but can’t help but wonder if Scott is on their radar too…

That would be a good move for him IMHO, good club, European football and they play some great football.

Dahoud and Milner are touted on frees but think given the extra strain of Europe, Scott and some extra depth they could do with that.

Most complain that the seats aren’t as comfy as the armchairs in front of their TVs. So yes.

It's a true shithole, it needs a few things doing to meet the premier League requirements.

The main bits they will struggle with are VAR requirements, Media and there is also the fact one whole stand is under development, there is also some random requirements around boundaries in the premier.

I think they are aiming to double their capacity and add safe standing of 4k it will be interesting as three months is not long.

Perhaps they could share with Coventry ?
