Your right, it’s time to start talking about pigeons on the pitch and buses driving past the ground

As Socrates said

“True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing”

Probably more apposite for this thread are the words of the American philosopher, Rumsfeld, who said:

" There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know.

There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we we know we don't know.

But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know that we don't know."

No, that’s the point I was trying to make….badly. Knight has a decent all-round game, but he isn’t a flair player per se…nor do I think that’s what we will bring in either.

For us, it's the same as Barcelona bringing in a replacement for Messi - there isn't one.

Personal opinion, not from any source. If we don't get an attractive offer by the end of the window, he will get a good pay rise as a thank you for "not being a dick about it all" but the contract length will not change greatly and there will be a buyout clause of approximately 20% below our current asking price.

I know some are saying that if we are doing well in January he might want to stay more, but the truth is that even with promotion, we are unlikely to start paying £40k/50k+ to players and that's the starting point for players of his calibre at that level.

I would hope that any revised contract would lead to an extended term, even if only for 12 months. There’s got to be a benefit to City with this too.

I would also hope that any buy out clause would be at the current £25m level…..

Having said all this, still expect him to have left by 1st September…..

Donald Rumsfeld was my boss Becki the day.

From what I’ve heard I don’t think there is a chance he’ll sign any new contract.

Perfect world it would be for him to sign a new 3/4 year deal on 10-15k as he’s proven to be a top earner at the club, but with a non-promotion release clause of his current value of £25mill (he will be worth more than that in a years time, especially if he got us promoted) and inserted a 25-30% sell on clause.

we get him for at least another season unless a club pays well over the odds for him now. He either gets us promoted or we still are covered financially in the likeliness we don’t and he gets his move to the prem. win win

There's absolutely no justification in article for the opening line.

An article claiming "Bristol City considering placing a £259m offer for M'bappé" would be based on as much evidence.

It’s it only me that’s worried that he’s tweeted a picture of himself in the away kit?

Yes. I would only be worried if he tweeted a picture of himself wearing a jumper with nipple holes cut out or mini traffic cones on his chest...

Absolute no evidence to back that claim up, about par for the sun though, they don't need evidence to print a story

Charlie Wyatt, who wrote that, is the biggest bullshitter on Fleet Street IMO. The last time he wrote about us, he was adamant Nige was being replaced by Warnock. Look how the worked out.

Just a load of nonsense to solicit click for ad impressions.  But it looks more stupid the more time that passes.

Alex crook is desperate for someone to buy Alex Scott. Keeps racing on about him yet doesn’t think he’s worth 25mill. Put a smile on my face to hear McAnthony put him in his place by saying he’s is absolutely worth that and more and that it’s up to the club what he’s worth.

Does anybody know what the £5 million add on we’re asking for actually would consist of? One of the panellist on podcast said it’s £25 million plus £5 million in add ons - I’d assumed we’d be looking for a future sell on percentage ?

I don’t think anyone knows whether there are any add-ons at all, let alone the amount, or what the construct might be!  It’s just guesswork / speculation.

Thought it was an odd statement to make

Let’s not start detracting his value. It’s minimum £25mill to get a seat at the table plus additions, whether that is fees, or a player, plus sell on clauses

Bang on and what I and others have been saying ad nauseum. 20M doesn't get you through the door. Why is it so difficult for people to get their head around that.

It's £1m for every 50 pages on this thread!

Would you except 20 mil from someone like Spurs, if they loaned him back to us for a season?

I'd accept 20 mil from anyone for anything.  Whether the club would is another thing and I don't think they should.

Ahh the same pod that suggested we should be playing friendlies against foreign opposition, who play a completely different style of football to what we will be facing in the league.

And questioned why we don't play Premier league clubs in friendlies but failed to mention that Premier league clubs are all abroad playing each other and earning huge amounts of money.
