We have used the Albert over the last year or so and Popped in the Black Cat a few times. I did try the London Inn Last home game but they were closed, but it was early kick off.

The Masonic is part of the Wickwar pub chain, no idea how they're doing financially, but I understand the long-awaited refurb of the Cat and Wheel (my old regular) has been pushed back again, and that the Gloucester Road Ale House is up for sale. They have some good pubs in their portfolio, so the chances are those ^ two things aren't related to the performance of the group as a whole, but it seems like all pubs are under the cosh at the moment. Back in the late 30s, 'Dig for Victory' was the campaign, to ensure that there was enough for all. Well we need a 'drink for victory' campaign now, to ensure that pubs survive!

Might have this wrong but thought he also had The Pineapple (long gone) behind the Council House. Alan Williams used to run the Miners Arms in Farrington Gurney back in the day as well.

Is the Apple Tree still going? I believe the Apple Tree is still going. One of, if not the strangest pub I’ve ever been in. We thought it was shut till a old fella said “you’ve got to kick the bottom right of the door to open it” which we did and it flex open. Once inside it has the oldest fruit machine I’ve seen and was full of blokes pissed in rough cider filling in football betting coupons. Was only 11:30am… 2 1

1960maaan
I guess it'll be straight to the Masonic for me now, though that has been quiet lately. I try and not use Wetherspoons for the reason @southvillekiddy mentioned , my mates go in there for the early games, I try and catch them when they move on. He told them they could find alternative employment if they wanted too and their jobs would be waiting for them when they re-opened. Amazing how things get portrayed Edited March 30, 2023 by Seventeen

That & the Barley Mow are old school Bedminster. The juxtaposition of Bristol Loaf & the Apple Tree must be unlike anywhere else in the city.

I’ve got so many tales of being in that golden triangle of pubs, most of which involve the Grosvenor. Ain’t been in there for a while, mind. Wonder if Clive’s still running it. The first time I ever walked in there I was offered some loot nicked from Asda and some ‘freshly’ caught rabbit wrapped in newspaper! Standard!
