Absolutely.
Was he the fire chief's favourite? All the rest called by surname and he gets his full name called .

It was only when I counted the Firemen I realised that there were only 6.

He was the driver. Commands a bit more respect!

They can, and they're about to announce a couple of marquee signings.

I don’t honestly see how they can afford any marquee signings.  Worth a look at the Championship FFP thread, they’re skint.

They haven’t even communicated their Retained List yet.  This is all we know so far:

Hold tight James, patience required.

Have a read of their press conference today - one of their board members said they're about to announce a player that will be a bigger deal than the manager they announced and he expects them to take up to 18,000 season tickets.

I'm not suggesting that's Bryan, but he said it's not the only announcement they have that'll excite fans.

I've just got a bad feeling, given it seems to have stalled from our end.

Signing any Gas player would be a bigger deal than their completely unknown Manager.

Why do you think it had stalled? The French league finished on the weekend. He flew back to London yesterday. He will probably have a meeting with Silva in the coming days, if not done already and then I would imagine Fulham will announce their retained list once other conversations are had with other players shortly after. Then there should be some significant movement. Relax.

I read that and just think waffle to be honest.

Unless this ‘Special Signing’ is Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming out of his short retirement how do they believe it will drive thousands of season ticket sales???

For a club in an embargo that only avoided relegation because of another clubs point deduction.

Cant see why Joe Bryan would go there at all. I’m more nervous about a Southampton or something similar going in for him.

They reported it was nearly done two weeks ago, then they seemed to backtrack on that.

To me, that suggests that talks have "stalled".

Time will tell - why does it upset you so much that I'm penning some nervous thoughts about a quality player re-signing for us? It's only natural if you care.

Lots of their fans seem to think it'll be Ozil by the sounds of it...

That's because Bristol Live is a shit website with even worse reporters. They need to keep the clicks going so a "will he? won't he?" series of stories is the only way they can think of generating those clicks.

That’s how I read it to, normal guff from a club on a new manager appointment

To be fair if Cardiff started playing Pete Bud at CAM I would have to buy a season ticket.

would Bale be a possibility as their special signing? i know he ruled out playing and it seems very unlikely but it would fit?

I can tell you that there is no "saga" regarding Bryan, so from that you can surmise that there is no legitimate reason for these ongoing stories other than, they went too early on the right story early on and have had nowhere to go since.

What's the situation with it then, given you seem to have all the answers and are shooting down anyone else's way of thinking?

It's already been stated, by others on here even more informed than me so I don't have anything to add as I am not prepared to put anyone in a bad situation.

Their special signing will undoubtedly be a big name in Turkey but completely unknown here.

There’s only one reason they’ve chosen and capitalised the number three here. This goes perfectly with the “no place like home” last week.

I seem to recall that it has already been pointed out that the "home" tweets were made by the Ashton Gate stadium account which regularly makes reference to "home". I hope your investigative skills as a "murder police" (©️ The Wire) are better than your transfer sleuthing ?

Not all of them, one cane from City, on FB only, not on twitter.

Even if there is something on the ‘home’ and ‘three’ posts, it’s so subtle they can say ‘look what we did!’ If we get him and say sweet f all if we don’t!

I think he’s coming home fwiw, but not because of the cryptics on Facebook ?

Morning all. Joe Bryan deal is off. Not coming. ?

Meh, that's a shame. Was excited at first thought of him coming back, but it's not the end of the world. He's an interesting character is Joe & maybe he would see coming back here as a potential failure from his side? If he ends up going to Cardiff then that would be a bizarre choice to say the least

So (if true) he's either motivated by money after all, or if we're being generous, maybe he's joining a club like Leicester where he thinks he could acheive another promotion.

Either way, given he's got money in the family, money in the bank, business interests and was no doubt offered a decent wage here, I'm surprised the boyhood club and legacy factors didn't lure him here.

As mentioned above, apparently we only offered him a 1 year deal. If that’s the case, can’t blame him to be fair

Yeah hadn't seen your post ?. I guess that could be it. As a City fan, I still see us as the most attractive option even on a 1 year deal ?‍♂️

Still no evidence of "stalling" then?

No there isn't.

Whether he signs or not is a completely different matter.

But his season ended on Saturday and the fact he hadn't been announced by the Monday is not evidence of stalling.

I have no idea if he's signing but if he doesn't, it won't be the first or last time a footballer negotiates with more than 1 club before deciding which offer to accept.

Where is your evidence of "stalling"?

The fact he wasn't announced within minutes of the rumour surfacing on Otib? Ridiculous. Within seconds of his season ending on Saturday? Ridiculous.

Definitely get the sense of certain people wanting this to be off so they can claim some tedious level of one-upmanship.

Personally I’d be very disappointed but not at all surprised if he goes elsewhere.

Who the F is in charge of negotiations - can't imagine we'd ever be a consideration on that basis

No wonder we're the biggest club never to have played in the Prem

Where did you hear that out of interest?  Just doesn’t seem right to me.   Why would we?  It’s not a serious offer.
