I can't lie, this Emma character sounds like a massive busybody to me, she could check easy if there's a game on, before she goes shopping on Sunday lunchtime, you would think she may have noticed the amount of people and traffic in bemmy, its pretty hard to miss, she would notice that by the end of her street, most would turn around, then gossiping with a stranger about a neighbour earning a tenner for parking, I hope this blokes not building a extension, Jesus she would have a Field day

What, the Emma who said you just have to be aware of when a games on, in case you get caught out? The one who fully accepts the position? Wow.

If I did live nearby I would have thought a positive would be having a job at the stadium? Has anyone on OTIB ever done that?

My niece works there and TBH the sub-contracting company that employs her are not the best: very demanding and skirting employment law when it comes to breaks etc.

A job's a job, but I don't think it thrills her, as a City fan, to have to deal with some of the unpleasant drunks among our supporters that she has to encounter.

I was hoping they would offer me £100k pa to walk out at HT and FT to tend the pitch with a fork. Maybe that is unrealistic.

See if you can beat this for a bad job, my and another bloke in the summer had to go around scraping the chewing gum, off the steps in the stands, and other certain area's for the painters, was every summer for years for uplands construction, the last year we did it I can recall being in the atyeo, working, and Dave partridge was on the pitch, talking to the press

Suppose you couldn't be too chewsy.

On the positive side, you must have earned a mint.

Decent article , although I don’t see how they moan about parking when it’s parking permits everywhere .

does anyone know when the next phase of building is due to start ? Wikes etc obviously have a lease on those buildings

The roads on the south side of North Street (I.e. nearest Ashton Gate) do not have a residents parking scheme.

What do you guys think about marks story, moved here when the stadium was under construction getting gates of 10000, bit scripted to say the least, and again does he come across as Einstein, fgs can he not interview somebody who comes across as a little bit switched on

should have asked @CyderInACan. He's switched on

This seems to be the norm in a lot of cases these days, I don't really care. BBC is full of quotes from Twitter. I don't take any of it seriously anymore.

There has been a load of these articles on newsfeeds etc at the moment. In recent days I've had Luton, Wimbledon, QPR and Fulham pop up on mine showing local residents living nearby. Close season for sport jurnos I expect.

A real journalist like richard Latham would have used his, initiative and printed something in pre season like a interview with a player, something sports fans may like too read, I suspect thats too much to ask these days,

You do realise this isn’t a sports (or even Bristol City) Journo that wrote this don’t you?

Re. your spelling and grammar etc. jeopardising your potential career in journalism, I should think that you would fit in perfectly with Bristol Live.

I look forward to reading your first article, although it would be appreciated if you could do something about those infernal pop-up adverts.

True , how long before they do. I haven’t got a problem with not driving , but the public transport needs to be much better

Move Ashton Gate to Amsterdam.

Wife and I are on holiday here in a village about 15km north of the city.

Bus service is 8 buses per hour from 6am to midnight. Cost about 3 euros per journey.

Yes, also the trams & double decker trains from the airport . Very efficient over there .

Not being funny, but it's not like AG was a secret project, that popped up overnight. You live near a football stadium, it's going to get a bit chaotic on matchdays, particularly if there's no parking control (which there should be, fair enough).

As for cars vs public transport - Bristol's public transport is clearly just as shocking as I remember it back in the day. I can't believe I'm thinking of moving back...

Ahh, but Amsterdam doesn't have to cope with two rivers like Bristol does ?

I live on Luckwell road- no qualms about matchday parking, pretty clear what you’re signing up for. My issue is the amount of flats they’re chucking up (without parking) in the area. I’d be in favour of an RPZ, but it won’t happen under Marv- I’m sure I read that they did a poll that was largely in favour of bringing one in here, but said not enough voters turned out so it didn’t count. Interesting way to do a poll.

I wouldn’t think this article helps a Certain team north of Bristol with hopes of a new stadium

As a fellow BS3 (Smyth Rd) resident I think the poll was done by Mark Bradshaw a while back, maybe a couple of years. Support for RPZ south of North St was only marginally ahead of no restrictions so I think it kinda got kicked into the long grass. The most recent stuff I have heard about RPZ is that the council are looking at potentially scrapping them. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-residents-parking-zone-permits-8503430

Not forgetting though that there was a stipulation after the AG rebuild that if there were a certain number of games in a row that exceeded (I think) 20,000 attendance then the club itself had to fund & implement a matchday parking scheme in the surrounding roads. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/ashton-gate-survey-residents-matchday-1237820

To sum it up: nothing will change.

Think it was 25k.

Nothing will change? Looks to me like the price of permits are set to absolutely rocket.

Our area was asked about an RPZ years ago - vast majority were against it but they implemented it anyway.

Just about time to move on from Bristol methinks.

Howdy neighbour. Yeah, I remember the ‘25k attendance three games in a row’ thing. Didn’t we actually do that against Man U, Man C and possibly Norwich in the middle during the cup run a few years back? Think I remember the club saying it was 25k tickets sold but not 25k attending so they didn’t have to do it. I am surprised BCC haven’t RPZd the whole of BS3 really- more for the cash grab opportunities with football and rugby bringing a lot down.

Yes. But then they say theY expect RPZ to be phased out or something?

I don't think so, they're planning to re evaluate it but from what I can see that is just to make it more effective in cutting car use.

Absolutely no chance of scrapping it imo, it will just get increasingly expensive as we're seeing now.

It's authoritarian, anti car, and now an increasing money raiser. so ticks all the boxes for the local council.

I worked with someone who used to moan all through the football season because she lived near Selhurst Park when both Palace and Wimbledon were playing there meaning that cars were parked everywhere and the traffic was terrible before and after the game.

She must have know that there was a football stadium nearby when she bought it; I had just assumed that anyone buying a house or flat near a football ground is doing so because they intend going to watch it and it must be great to be able to walk there in a few minutes and turn out for every youth and reserve game.
