He’s gone.

I’ve never seen the fan base so United on an issue before as this. In reading this thread I don’t think I’ve seen a single post suggesting this was a good idea. Only a handful that were apathetical at best.

SL & JL have seriously misjudged this one. I know I’ve complained about AG being “too nice” and lacking atmosphere recently. I don’t think that’s going to be a problem anymore! Hope they’re ready for an almighty load of flak coming their way.

As for NP himself, I seriously struggle to think who could have done any better given he had next to no money to spend, was hamstrung by ridiculous injuries, and inherited a club in total disarray following the LJ/MA/DH saga.

What a ******* joke the executive of this club is.

Ps. If LJ comes back, I want my ST refunded.

Got to say, most times a manager goes there is some sadness, but results meant it was kind of coming.

This one, despite the recent rumours, I just thought ‘no way’. Everyone can see how we are improving and what he is achieving with huge constraints. Absolutely nonsense decision. Quite angry tbh, as well as an awful lot of sympathy for NP who did not deserve this.

Wont be on here for a while or around the club.

Stockholm Syndrome with these Lansdown clowns and this is the final straw.

Finest manager with the most integrity this club has had since Terry Cooper.

**** this lot.

Too much for this club.

Cheers Nige, and all the best.

True true but fans of other clubs I expect wouldn't be as shocked as us. That's a debate for another day anyway.

But they’re more likely to stare at results than delve into the context of those results. Based on league position we’re not much further forward than when he started, but anyone with a clue as to the circumstances (generally City fans), will understand that’s probably the equivalent of at least one promotion.

I wasn’t part of the ‘love-in’ with Pearson, but unless someone really good is lined up (which I doubt) then this stinks of something personal.
there had better be a good plan in place - because right now it looks like a suicidal move.
I’ll support whoever replaces him - unless it’s Barton - if it’s him then I’ll not set foot on Ashton Gate soil or buy anything from the club until he’s gone.

Nige knew this was coming weeks ago but the complete and utter coward in charge waited for a Derby defeat when we only had 11, 12 if you count young Yeboah, first team players available before he pushed the button.

Yep this would of been done if we hadn’t won against Coventry, they were just waiting, I bet they thought the fan base would of excepted it after losing yesterday, that’s how much they understood football, ******* clueless

I've no issue with the new incumbent, whoever that may be, it's not their fault that City have ****** Nige over.

The board however.....

Sad, sad day.

That’s might be a problem tbh. Unless the new guy hits the ground running AG won’t be a happy place.

Okay I'll try to rationalise the promotion comment. The decision is a disgrace let's clear that bit up.

Maybe NP had some positional or points target. Once that became impossible to achieve the position came under greater scrutiny.

Do you reckon the potential target was before or after the summer recruitment  Plan A and Plan B was trashed by the board in favour of go with what you’ve got?

Gotta be eustace, smith or parker for me. Eustace did a similar job at Blues so would be able to inherit a situation he is used to.

Why Parker?

I am gutted, i feel for Nigel. The quicker the Lansdowns leave and a new owner is in placenthe better. Did they look at the bench on Saturday we were at rock bottom re our squad. That is not Nigels fault. This is one of the wrost desions ever made by a owner of Bristol City. Sell up and be gone.

Well there were a few on here suggesting this was happening today/tomorrow, I just couldn’t see it.

However good their intentions, the Lansdowns continue to show their total lack of ability to run a successful football club.

Their intentions have always been about them. Legacy and ego. They are shysters.

Those of you who want nothing more than perennial survival, in understand why you are upset.  But frankly I would rather we took a gamble on someone new.  If we go down, that's too bad.. but it's just a game. We'll come back. And if we get it right, we might just be able to push for something special

That’s what we’ve been doing for the last 20 years - where the hell has it got us?!?

Eustace is probably the only option out there that could work with our squad.

Really annoying aspect is can see the replacement getting a war chest that was never afforded to NP. Eustace/someone else may well spend that war chest wisely and up the table we go, but will rankle forever that NP wasn’t given that chance given all he’s done to right the ship.

If they’re setting points targets that need to be hit by the end of each month, they’re absolutely ******* batshit insane

Only if the nest egg is released otherwise no chance.

Only at City could that happen, give Nige next to bugger all and let the new guy spend £Millions. Its happened before.

Imagine you're Ross McCrorie, signed to play for Nige and he's gone before Ross can play!

So we were going nowhere and if we get relegated, we’ll bounce back?  Seriously?

The Lansdowns should be ashamed. Scandalous and cowardly decision. What alternative reality are they living in? They deserve all the opprobrium they are going to get. They should not be welcome at City games going forwards. Didn't think that they would actually do it.

City Chairman Jon Lansdown said: “This was a difficult decision to make as we recognise and appreciate how much Nigel has done for the club over the past two-and-a-half years on and off the pitch.

I guess it is quite difficult to make a decision when you don't have any idea what's going on with the football club any more.

Pathetic. Enough's enough, leave now.

Not sure those who want NP to stay are after perennial survival, maybe competence and lots of progress, given the circumstances he was working under. If you’re of the view that AN Other manager would have handed Cardiff a hammering with the injuries/subs bench, I’d be very keen to get access to your supplier.

Absolute joke. Stands by Johnson and Holden for months, he loses a few games with no squad and he gets the chop.

Don't think his face fit if I'm honest, he was a disturber not afraid to say how it was. The board have bottled it and jumped on the Cardiff loss as an excuse to push....

It was starting to get toxic. Very out of character this for sl.

Stinks.

A 'Yes' man and league one incoming.

Can’t believe that Nigel has been sacked. With no money he has kept us in the championship for 3 seasons!Hope the management sees what nearly all the fans think.Mr Lansdown has kept the city afloat with his financial import but someone else needs to question him now and again. Never known fans so united with such disapproval.

You won’t see Steve at a City home game…out of personal choice, forget fan reaction.

Absolute disgrace and makes a complete mockery of any claims about ownership wanting success. Lip service.

Nige, with a fraction of financial backing was the closest we’d get to achieving success.

Instead, it seems our esteemed ownership don’t like being challenged and are after conformity and the mediocrity it brings.

Just waiting for the club to do a media push now of “get behind the squad”. Do one Lansdowns, bridges are burnt.

Nige - thank you for your efforts.

Trouble is this is all too believable!!

It was obvious from the lack of comments or praise previously of Pearson they were just biding their time.

Good luck Nigel Pearson. You’ve given us some great football and developed an obvious team spirit that’s been lacking for several seasons.
Despite terrible odds your integrity, but above all your honesty, is to be admired.

I for one will genuinely miss you and your obvious flair for leadership.

How the hell does John Lansdown expect us to win promotion when they sell our best player and the money disappears plus 12 injuries. They haven't backed him to achieve promotion.

This is all down to the owner the board and bristol sport. Something is corrupt there.
