I’ve never seen the fan base so United on an issue before as this. In reading this thread I don’t think I’ve seen a single post suggesting this was a good idea. Only a handful that were apathetical at best.

SL & JL have seriously misjudged this one. I know I’ve complained about AG being “too nice” and lacking atmosphere recently. I don’t think that’s going to be a problem anymore! Hope they’re ready for an almighty load of flak coming their way.

As for NP himself, I seriously struggle to think who could have done any better given he had next to no money to spend, was hamstrung by ridiculous injuries, and inherited a club in total disarray following the LJ/MA/DH saga.

Got to say, most times a manager goes there is some sadness, but results meant it was kind of coming.

This one, despite the recent rumours, I just thought ‘no way’. Everyone can see how we are improving and what he is achieving with huge constraints. Absolutely nonsense decision. Quite angry tbh, as well as an awful lot of sympathy for NP who did not deserve this.

He took Aston Villa up but had a very good budget. Norwich he came down, mediocre despite a large budget. Unlike usual Norwich they didn't sell that much post relegation.

Really annoying aspect is can see the replacement getting a war chest that was never afforded to NP. Eustace/someone else may well spend that war chest wisely and up the table we go, but will rankle forever that NP wasn’t given that chance given all he’s done to right the ship.

Not sure those who want NP to stay are after perennial survival, maybe competence and lots of progress, given the circumstances he was working under. If you’re of the view that AN Other manager would have handed Cardiff a hammering with the injuries/subs bench, I’d be very keen to get access to your supplier.

Been supporting the club nearly 50 years (yikes) and always thought that as a supporter you should generally “support” the club.  I’ve always tried to speak positively of the Lansdowns too for what they have done.  I am furious and appalled by this decision and the treatment of Nigel.

We finally, after many years, had a serious, experienced manager who talked sense, who had got on and changed the culture, trimmed costs, met the financial requirements, developed and sold on young players and clearly moved the whole club forward in all areas.  There was a clear plan for the first time that I could see for many years.

We are now a club without a CEO, without a strong and visible leader and now without a manager.  What a mess.

Nigel managed the club through a really difficult period, with huge constraints and didn’t complain at any stage.  I am very grateful for all he has done but am now also mourning what perhaps could have been.
