If it was just this forum I think it would hold water.

The general reaction on wider social media is unlike any I've seen since I started supporting. It's new ground for us, the next appointment needs to be excellent and or a clear and obvious upgrade IMO.

Of course you are right Mr P.

Nobody and I mean nobody is going to convince me that Liam Manning is the right man for the job or anywhere near being an upgrade.

I think Saturday showed just how much we miss Scott, we desperately need a player in there who can push forward quickly, and spot an early forward pass.

Scott is missed in so many ways.

Passing- ✅

Speed of thought- ✅

Ability to carry- ✅

Ability to win free kicks in either half, thereby relieving some pressure in our half or helping to build some in the opposition half- ✅

Think he may have added a few goals too this season.

Some of our players have some of these traits but he had them all.

Midfield and side as a whole would look rather different with a fit and firing Scott and Naismith in it IMO.

Did he actually say that? Where? Wasn’t it a rumour that BT said that?

No he didn't say that but someone said he did and everyone was only too happy to believe it.

Both BT& JLK stated that they believe that BCFC should be fighting at the top end of the table with the this squad but did not go as far as they "expected/demanded " promotion as has been falsely reported as fact on here.

JL did say that " Promotion is the aim or what's the point" but he didn't say this season specifically. Nige also said promotion was the aim. What else should they say ?

The only person who's said inspiring or exciting? appointment is our resident manager himself Ian Gay.

Didn't a poster come on here and write that they'd spoken to him at the game and Tins wouldn't give any names but just said it's an exciting one

Watching us Saturday made me think we're just a team full of runners. There's very little guile about us which is why we don't score many goals. We'll run and run all day, we're all effort, not much quality though. Last season we at least had Alex Scott to sprinkle some quality, but without him?

That was what NP and Dave Rennie wanted, a team that could out run everyone.

Despite the noises coming from Oxford, I've got a really bad feeling this bloke is going to get the job.

From NP to someone who got sacked from MK Dons and manages a team in League one. How depressing. The boys will be doing cartwheels of joy up at the HPC when they get told.

My fear is the opposite. Manning has got both his last two teams to play exciting, attacking football. It only fell apart at MK when the owners sold his best two players and he couldn’t replace them (sound familiar much?). I fear that we will appoint one of the mediocre currently out of work managers/coaches instead (which is what an appointment this afternoon would suggest).

I meant I am not on Twitter.

Me neither.

But the thing is you reposted that Tinnion said something on Twitter that may or may not be fact.

In any event- BT may believe that Manning ( if it is he) is an exciting prospect and I'd tend to agree from the research I've done from a layman's point of view.

NP ( and others) has built the foundations for a bright coach to work from so it could indeed be exciting. And what's the point of replacing NP with another in the NP mould?

Nope.

Not on Twitter, just saw it posted on here somewhere.

You said I didn't read twitter or interviews regarding that quote about an inspiring or exciting appointment, yet you didn't either? Absolute waffle.

You've just taken what one person has said on here who's probably heard it from our resident manager Ian on one of the podcasts.

How about you read twitter or the interviews if you're so certain it was said and prove it.

Not one person from the hierarchy has said that in the slightest. So don't expect an inspiring or exciting appointment either!

So he lost his 2 best players and then couldn't get a tune out of the rest of the squad in League 2. So what happens if he loses 2 of his best players in the summer at City then?

Not having a dig at anyone on OTIB, though I seem to ruffled a few feathers. I just don't get how Manning should be anywhere near the best option for the City job. Or is it that he's viewed as the best of a bad bunch?

Just listening to TalkSport.

They said definitely not Frank Lampard and LM is #1.

Mentioned he has a release clause and ‘looks like it will happen’.

With Sky saying something similar (Tob Dorsett) it looks like it could well be Manning.

Yep.
I’ve watched a number of championship teams this season who are streets ahead of us in terms of their style, their quality, their pace, their technicality. We are way behind a number of teams. We are being competitive because we have players with a fair bit of grit, determination, energy. But the way some other teams play - we are way off that still.

Is that not a reason to sack Nige?

Wish him all the best.

As we apparently have a “top ten” budget according to our chairman & the last bloke they sacked for “underperforming” got us to within 4 points of the playoffs, it should be a piece of piss for him to reach the playoffs from here.

Nige for a rookie……Fabulous.
Was always going to be someone like him. He’s on an absolute hiding to nothing. He won’t be the problem when this inevitably fails.

All the best Liam.

Or he could be the one to push us on? Christ talk about being negative for sake of it

I thought there was a comment made suggesting it was going to be an exciting signing, most people don't even know who he is !

All the best Liam.

He may be a relative rookie but he will have the strength and experience of Jon Lansdown to guide him.

That’s the key for me. It’s not Liam Mannings fault he is coming here for a pay rise, further his career and is probably being promised funds to spend. I will judge his performance fairly and if he achieves what I would expect with what he has available then no complaints are on him. If that achievement doesn’t match the Upstairs Mob then that’s on them now, not Manning who is only in the firing line if he turns us from being as bang average as you can get into a relegation battle.

Utterly ludicrous appointment which now seems to be nailed on . Sacked by MK Dons following a run of 1 win in 11 games and we’ve decided he’s the next Eddie Howe after a dozen matches this season ! I really hope he proves all the doubters wrong but this feels more like a Johnson/Holden/Millen/Mciness keep everything crossed type of appointment to me !

It's a crap appointment. All week OTIB has gone in to meltdown about NP and rightly so. Then just a few days later City fans are lapping it up that we've landed Manning as the replacement for NP. It's embarrassing.

He'll get my unwavering support [until we go on a bad run]
