Why have we dropped the aggressive tactics used so well on tuesday, it suited us and it got the atmosphere and tension going, I thought we had maybe turned a corner from the nicey, nicey Bristol City..............NAH, normal service resumed.

Maybe refs watched our game midweek and we know we can’t go studs up

more cr@p play McCroie, losing the ball near the halfway line.

You’re clearly not liking the fella who is only playing his 3rd of 4th competitive game in over 6 months following a very nasty sounding condition…

Bit harsh? We are trying to press aggressively, they juay have some very good players who are good with the ball in tight spaces. It's miles better than millwall/Birmingham- but so are Watford. Think it's the case of final ball/little bit if quality- mcrorie and Knight a bit rusty when they've got into good positions

There haven't been any crunching tackles but we've been really snapping at their ankles when Watford have had possession in this second half. Making life difficult for them

He looks like a RB to me, not a wing back. Not much came off for him today, add in the free header missed and he needed to be replaced.

Plus ref seems to only find his yellow cards for the city players. Our cards have been soft.

He’s constantly said that his preferred position is RB, but with this formation and the fact they want to play 2 behind the striker means that until Sykes is fit then that’ll be his position. Tanner’s doing nicely as the 3rd CB. I think he’ll improve with minutes.

It  gets worse. 4.20 and the studio anchor comes out with "Bristol City were trailing 1-0 at half time; how have they started the second half"?

Please come back Jeff S.

It's now 4.40 and we've been informed again that Bristol City are trailing 1-0. Would he do this for onw of the top Prem teams?

I think tuesdays performance made a lot of people nostalgic of years gone by, a city team more than holding their own physically, snapping into tackles that got supporters out of their seats, cheering the team on, creating a mood more attributed to Ashton Gate in the 90's.

I mistakenly thought that this tactic was here to stay and this was Manning in part putting his stamp on things and showing us that the dark arts are part of his tactical repertoire and he is shaping a city side that can play football at the same time as being a nightmare to play against?

Tanner has played well at the back, but his throws and his control when the ball given back to him are poor.

Do you actually like any of our right-sided players? That’s just being uber-critical, I think he’s been very solid.

15 shots, 6 on target so far. I can't believe how everyone is so negative about our performance today.

It’s dull. Bar the goal we’ve only looked like scoring by a set piece . It’s a snooze fest. Points wise we are going nowhere at the moment.

Yeh I thought was a fine, maybe even good, performance. Twine settled in through the game, and the set pieces look good. Decent performance and result.

Said it earlier - they have some good players! We did really well to get back into the game from 0-1, and showed some good signs. Twine hit the ground running and put in several dangerous dead balls, we pressed and got in their faces, had them running back towards their own goal at times. Wasn't the constant back and forth between Tanner and Vyner that we've seen in some games. We played a lot better than we have done in the league recently - but Watford were also better than what we've come up against. Take a point and a solid performance and move on - free hit on Friday against Forest and hopefully another good atmosphere under the lights. Looking forward to it.

100% agree. Always a difficult game, made harder by Dickie hanging his arm in the air to give them a pen, but overall I think we shaded it.

Unusual for City to have so many headed chances. Twine scored a really good one. McCrorie wasted one. Dickie and Pring nearly scored with headers.

agreed. If we had drawn 1-1 up there and won 4-1 today, we'd all be ecstatic.

We were playing Watford, not Swindon Town. What were you expecting?

Yep Cov next. Then Leeds. Oh then Boro. Not forgetting Southampton. So better not expect t0o much excitement from them…………

To manage expectations, don't expect us to run rings around those teams with free-flowing samba football and flicks n tricks! Those is a competitive league and Watford would have been 6th if they'd have held onto their lead.

Next few league games are very tough on paper. If we play like we did today - we'll pick up a few points, but we won't win them all. The last three league games were very, very poor. But this sort of run is where Manning's whole spiel about not getting too emotional rings true.

I would just like to actually see some chances actually created in a home game, and see a home win that doesn’t need a penalty. That’s just facts to me, don’t think that’s being too overly negative.

As I’ve said before, is just yet another season where it feels like “just get to the summer and go again”.

So those 15 shots and several headers on goal came from passing back to O'Leary?

If you want facts, look at the stats. Or the highlights.

Overall a poor game: Watford had some moments of quality/good attacking threat (mostly in the first half), we had our best spell towards the end of the game. I'd say they played better but the draw is fair.

Positive debut for Twine.

But isn't that what it's always been this season? When in the season were you thinking we were on for anything else?

Think that's slightly generous.

Set piece delivery was very good, but in open play very little came off for him (with the obvious exception of the tap in). Also thought his pressing lacked a bit of intensity compared to our other midfielders and forwards.

Hopefully it's just a case of him taking a couple of weeks to assimilate.

What is telling Pete is that under Nige, every single game, if we played well or badly, you'd come out with the same old stuff about how silly fans will blame Nige when it's not his fault. Since Manning took over, you've suddenly got shit in your eyes and only post negative comments.

With respect 😘:city:
