A sell out.

We all enjoyed the last game under the lights at Ashton Gate on 16 January, here’s how the BBC captured it, https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67984498

This Friday night under the lights in BS3 promises to be another special one.

Forest were held by Blackpool at home in round 3 and won the replay 3-2 with Wood netting for Forest (couldn’t resist) in extra time.

Head to head we have won 22, lost 43 and drawn 33.

In all fixtures between the two clubs, Forest have a 44% win rate and only a 22% loss rate. However, for the four times we have played each other in the F.A. Cup, going back to 1922, Forest have a 100% win rate (the 1922 tie went to a replay after a 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate, Forest winning the replay 3-1 with Henri Lansbury scoring all four goals)

Last Saturday they were away to Brentford it finished in a 3-2 defeat for the away team.

Who would you consider to be the five greatest Forest players of all time?  https://thesporting.blog/blog/greatest-nottingham-forest-players-of-all-time

Players who have played for them and us include, Jack Hunt, Chris Wood, Henri Lansbury, Peter Cormack and John Galley.

In December they named Nuno Espírito Santo as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract to replace Steve Cooper, as the Portuguese returned to the Premier League for a third stint.

Forest facts

Forest were founded in 1865 and have a rich history spanning over 150 years.

Two-Time European Champions

One of their most remarkable achievements was winning the European Cup not once, but twice. Under the management of Brian Clough, Forest clinched the prestigious trophy in back-to-back seasons, in 1979 and 1980.

Brian Clough’s Legacy

Brian Clough is widely regarded as one of the most successful and influential managers in the history of Nottingham Forest. He took charge of the club in 1975 and transformed them from a second division team into European champions.

Robin Hood Connection

Nottingham Forest’s iconic nickname, “The Reds,” is linked to the legendary folk hero, Robin Hood. Robin Hood is said to have frequented the ancient forest that occupied the land where the City Ground stadium is located.

The Miracle Men

The Nottingham Forest team that won back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980 became known as “The Miracle Men.” Their remarkable success against some of Europe’s top clubs was considered a true sporting miracle.

League Cups Success

In addition to their European triumphs, Nottingham Forest have also achieved success in domestic competitions. The club has won the Football League Cup (now known as the Carabao Cup) four times.

Longest-serving Manager

The longest-serving manager in Nottingham Forest’s history is Frank Clark. He guided the team for over seven years and etched his name in the club’s folklore.

Honorary President

Nottingham Forest’s honorary president is none other than former player and manager, Stuart Pearce. He is highly respected in the club and continues to be involved in various capacities.

Wherever you are cheering the team on from enjoy the game and be proud and loud!

Among my worst footy memories are the League Cup semi and losing there 2/1 in the Cup circa 81. Mabutt scored for us and we played very well. They got a horror homer ref pen and Wallace scored at the death.

I can’t remember if that was the game that the four stupidest people in the world got in the away end and actually did get their ******* heads kicked in!

I was gutted losing that one. I think they were reigning European Champions , I believe we had just got relegated .
1-0 half time and the noise we echoing round the ground. Really gutting , I forgot how late they scored. 83 & 88 minutes .

This seems strange:

”Nottingham Forest’s iconic nickname, “The Reds,” is linked to the legendary folk hero, Robin Hood.” Robin Hood was traditionally shown dressed in Lincoln Green.

Great MDT as per, but wasn't Clough the longest serving manager at 18 years?

I've seen a few clips of Forest over the week, and a few points pop up.

They have injury problems, apparently fairly heavy up front.
They have several players one contracts with no relegation clauses.
If they get relegated they could be in big FFP trouble.

Now adding 2 & 2 and probably getting 5 , I wonder if they may rest a few for tonight . Arsenal Tuesday and Bournemouth next weekend will surely take precedence , but how much.

We could do with them resting all the fit strikers, they've scored 2 or more in each of their last 6 games.
On the other side, in those 6 games they've let in 11.

So , what chances an exciting 4-2 home win tonight. :city:

They've quite a few missing but will still put out a very good team.

Tougher game than West Ham who managed one shot on target iirc and were bullied, this lot will have a lot more about them and better going forward even without their missing players.

Losing Williams is a big blow.

I think they'll get a couple or three and I'll go for a 0-2 score and hope I am as crap at predicting results as I normally am.

Hi all,

A Forest fan in peace. I’m looking forward to the game tonight, it should be a good old fashioned cup tie with no VAR to ruin the match. I see some are speculating on injuries - we’ve got a few. We are down to one striker, Wood with Callum Hudson Odoi on the wing. MGW I believe is still injured, Elanga is out and of course Awoniyi. We’ve also lost 6 players to AFCON. Other than that, we can’t defend and all our goalkeepers are crap. Nuno will play a strong team, mainly cos we don’t have much option. Probably 4231:

Turner

Montiel - Omabamidele - Murillo - Tavares

Yates - Mangala

CHO - Danilo - Dominguez

Wood

I have fond memories of BC matches - the 2 v 1 win in our promotion season is the moment we started to believe something special was happening. Lyle Taylor had his only good match for us and his penalty gave every Forest fan a heart attack. Good luck and let’s hope for a rip roaring entertaining FA Cup tie.

That's a pretty strong team!

Surely some rotation from last match considering arsenal on Tuesday. Players like Mckenna, Williams, Aguilera, Toffolo to come in?

Neither could we - Lyle Taylor - one of the worst striker in Forest history actually kick the ball into the net.

Orange of course. Although robins are often called redbreast the colour is actually orange. Orange, as a colour, was unknown in English until the Middle Ages. Until then orange was just regarded as a shade of red

We’re still learning about Nuno but he doesn’t seem to rotate for the cup, he didn’t for Blackpool. The players you quoted + Worrall are all the options we have. The rest of the bench will be U21’s. Aguilera is the only attacking option on the bench. Yates went off injured vs Blackpool and we had to put Nico Williams in Midfield.

Just going to walk the dog when his lead broke! Obviously this means that, should we go ahead tonight, we won’t be able to hold onto the lead!

What's the deal with Worrall? He seems to have gone from key player to outcast rather quickly.

He fell out spectacularly with Steve Cooper - Coops dropped him for the trip to Anfield, Worrall threw his toys out the pram and refused to travel to the game. As he’s club Captain, most people think he’s in the wrong. The other issue is he’s too slow and can get bullied by Prem forwards so he’s lucky to make the bench anyway.
