Atkinson and Sykes

Starting for U21's tomorrow, let's hope it all goes well and they available for 1st team action soon.

More to come too. :)

Sykes having been absent for just over a month you’d think would be back up to speed pretty quick.

Atkinson has been out for a year, so understandable if it’s a bit longer & provided Zak & Rob Dickie stay fit, there’s no rush.

I think as a club we are due a bit of luck on the injury front, it would be nice to have a settled team for the first time in God knows when, potentially we have a good squad it's just that we so rarely get to see them play together. I don't know if it's because we are closer to it but it does seem we have more than our fair share of bad luck where injuries are concerned.

I am really pleased for Rob, it will have been 8 days shy of a year out. I know he had that 45 minutes in November, but I am sure he would have expected to have been back before now. He has been in full training since 28th Jan, so he's probably more prepared than you might think.

He's been through a lot away from football too, (sorry to be so mysterious) so I am sure he is itching to get back tomorrow.

Manning did say that they could probably get away with putting Rob on the bench for the first team tomorrow, but it'd be better for him to get the guaranteed minutes for the U21s, plus they'd be unlikely to sub a CB unless they were injured.

Dumb question but who are we playing & what time’s KO?

At the HPC?

No it's away to QPR, so they must be fairly confident in their fitness as they don't usually do away games first back. I think it must be a rearranged game because it isn't on the OS. Home to Cardiff Tuesday though.

Obviously not up to Ian Gay standards,  but I do my best.

Didn't Leeson score a couple of goals for the first team in a friendly and looked decent?

Yeah he did. Not sure what has gone wrong as I had high hopes for him. Always looked a standout in the under 23 games I saw last season and the season before.

Not getting in the Gloucester team who are in a relegation battle & struggling so makes sense to get games here.

He may be in squad for the Boro game.

LM;

“A couple are going to play in the 21s on Saturday. In terms of, ‘are they ready?’ Rob Atkinson, we probably could have forced him onto the bench but the chances of changing a centre-back but also what’s best for him, given how long he’s been out, the sensible decision is to give him minutes in the 21s. So he’s really close,” Manning said. “Sykesy’s really close, so I’m hoping to have those guys back for Southampton or QPR.”

Would make sense for him to get an issue with his hamstring. Especially after his ACL.

Hopefully he can get past this eventually.

One of the downsides to using Hamstring to replace ACL.  Although I think Big Rob might’ve had issues historically???

Did he? He was seen in multiple training videos when Twine joined.

Also worth pointing out that in terms of running was the fittest player in pre season in terms of the tests they have to do. That will hopefully be in his favour for his recovery.

Surely something wrong with that HPC, the place has been nothing but a disaster with injuries.

The clue is in the name...fail land 😅

Obviously I don't know the details behind this latest one, but the hamstring he did in November wasn't the leg they took the ligament from to replace the ACL. You are right that he has had problems with them throughout his career though.

I'm sure that someone would know, but I wonder how many muscle injuries have happened at either AG8 of the HPC?

Am I correct in saying that the two pitches are made of the same fibres etc to mirror each other?

Christ.

How long is a typical hamstring injury?? It has been almost a year recurring.

Depends on how severe it is. Weeks or months. However, even if it is a strain I think due to the amount of injuries he's had I'd be surprised he makes any first team minutes this season.
