Showed QPR no respect and getting what he deserved with that selection I'm afraid

Well LM needs to be making subs at HT, not wait until we have had another 15 mins slowcoach play. Williams needs replacing, at least, Wells too I'd say.

Well, well well.

After a week of play off chat and didn’t the club play a stroke of genius appointing Manning…reality strikes.

An impotent, over worked and under cooked first half display.

Big half coming up - changes needed and time to show us your tactical nous Liam - this is a game we should 100% not be losing.

Not sure too many would have disagreed with the starting line up bar one or two..

Needs an injection of something though… Got to be getting in behind them, QPR happy for us to play in front of them.

Probably edged the half without creating much, their first real chance, poor defending, a goal down. Disappointing is not the word. Too many looking leggy and not on their game.

Not really be hard for them. Hoping for much better in the second half!

Teams will know that we struggle against teams that sit back, so do to us what we like to do

Exactly and I'm yet to see a manager who seems to be able to solve that issue. Peason struggled with it too hence we were set up to counter attack and hope to pinch the goals. Manning seems to change what he wants from us week in week out, sometimes it's counter football, sometimes it's possession but the one thing we struggle with are teams who sit back, we still have no creativity when it comes to breaking down teams with numbers behind the ball.

Hopefully people will stop talking about the Play Offs we are not consistant enough. We play well against the good sides and play poorly against the lesser sides Tony Thorpe summed up our problem where are the goals going to come from we lack the killer instinct

Anyone catch McCrorie berating Mehmeti for what I assume was not showing for the ball? Been far too narrow all half.

Williams & Knight miles off it.

TGH and Twine would the obvious changes. Need some clever passing and play to get behind QPR

He’s played well in the last couple of games and is one of our few scorers. If we don’t give our front 3 any quality then anyone up there would struggle.

Should have been Sykes and swap with Mehmeti IMO.

It's o ly half time and that was a very good goal by Chair.

Calm down, let's see how the 2nd half goes. Subs won't be long, I'd imagine and it all depends when that first goal comes.

Always believe x

Same old problem.  No striker.

Why if fans can see it did we do nothing to change that in transfer window

Yawn, how many 20 goal a season strikers are available in Jan…. Agree it’s a problem but it will only be solved offseason not mid way through it. Remember Dony?

Yep totally noticeable - had picked up on Anis’s poor position early. I’m assuming he was pulling inside to allow Ross the space to run into, but that only needs to happen when Ross doesn’t have the ball. He bollocked him and quite rightly before he swapped wings

We might have.. but sat on bench in Twine and ‘Dire’. As you say same old when team get behind the ball let us play in front off them. The Saints came here to win and allowed us to ‘play’

Never learn. A couple of good results and you are looking up. Completely forgetting we will then play like that against an awful team like QPR.

Big second half needed.

Yep had to laugh at the play off talk after the Saints game. City will never change

Perhaps not being on TV is the issue ?

Indeed, but I would also suggest that against Southampton we went back to the more aggressive football our squad can play, and look for fast transition. Almost all non. parachute payment clubs miss a bit of magic, so if you let the opposition have time, they all reset into a defensive block, and you do not have players with enough magic dust to break that down. So it suits us, certainly, to be quick in transition and counter. You have to be strong at counter-attacking these days (look at the Prem it is ruthless) and we have players to do that. In that half, we went back to being ponderous again, and it just does not suit . I hope we step on the gas (pun intended) second half and get QPR under more pressure much faster.

Bet you didn't post anything to counter it at the time though? Far easier to wait until we're losing so you can gloat.

Sod off mate, it's not gloating. I enjoyed the Saints game a lot and liked tonnes of positive posts about our performance. Seen it all before with City though.

Why do we fans put ourselves through this season after depressing season

Wake them up Manning and earn your corn.  No excuses.  This isn’t the Nige or Cotts era where we didn’t have enough players.

Sort yourself and the players out Manning or you are back in the fans’ doghouse

We lack mental resilience. As soon as we create a fleeting opportunity we throw it.......

They have been poor.....we have sadly matched that level. Need to be more progressive and forward looking....their aim is to nullify the game.....we have a mountain to climb now against a team that will park the bus....no tippy tappy sh1t please.....hard , fast and aggressive offensive play (and not to switch off at the back) - can't take 3 passes yo do what once clinical one would achieve.

Subs on 60 for me....assuming we don't concede within the first 10 of the restart. Jeez....not meaning to be negative...but all looks that way.

On a positive....we are having some success in creating chances going down the left....need to keep tapping that.

Conceding was annoying enough but to see 10 odd QPR fans in the section next to the big screen celebrating was the cherry on the cake. Assume this is hospitality so the club don't care but that's not good enough, this is a home end.

No subs

I don't think so, but that half was far from our best.

Look at the bench today, when in the last 2 years did we not have a youth team player (or 4) filling out the numbers? We have options and high level options . We will be much better second half. We have superstar Lionel Twine to come on, and we are surely going to see Sykes. QPR are there for beating.

Our players work better off instinct and having less time on the ball - when we have time on the ball a lot of the players just haven't got the nous or creativity to break teams down.

Always been a problem for us when we come up against sides who sit in. QPR haven't done much and didn't need to do much to get their goal - same old story.

Amount of times the ball has gone to Cornick, Knight and Williams and the pace of our attack slows right down. This isn't the right type of game for them, they don't make the right decisions when they have time on the ball, this was similar with Weimann too.

We're going to have to take some risks with runners from midfield and full back now if we're going to break these down.

No more passive play, make the right changes, get out there and put these under some serious pressure.

We’re a counter attacking team. The second half is going to be painful

The more so as QPR now have no real incentive to go forward.

Reminds of Brum at home when we started to hit long balls in desperation and got caught on the break again.

If so I doubt you'd want a pint of it!

I don't see the point in us discussing the striker being an issue when none of the strikers really get chances and when they do they convert at a decent rate, the issue is we don't create chances for them. We could have Haaland up front but if we can't supply him in a decent position even he's not going to score. We could spend a fortune on a striker and these kinds of games would continue because the issue is not finishing opportunities or even players making the space to get opportunities, it's that we can't supply them the ball in those situations because we can't break down a team who sit back in numbers.

Agreed, we do have some creativity but we can't rely on a few players to create chances, the team as a whole need to be better in that department.
