Of Uefa's 55 countries, 51 will enter the draw including Switzerland who have automatically qualified for next year's tournament as the host nation.

Defending champions England are in the draw, hoping to qualify and retain their crown.

Qualifying takes place between April and July.

The new-look format will see 15 teams earn qualification.

BBC Sport explains the draw and looks at who the home nations could face.

How does the draw work?

The 51 teams hoping to qualify for next year's tournament in Switzerland have been split into three leagues - A, B and C.

Which teams enter which league was determined by the results of the 2023-24 Nations League campaign. Leagues A and B consist of 16 teams, while League C has 19 teams.

In each league, the teams have been split up into four seeding pots.

In Leagues A and B, four groups will be drawn consisting of a team from each pot.

League C has five groups, with only three teams in one of them.

The top two sides from each League A group will automatically qualify for Euro 2025. The remaining seven spots will be decided via play-offs involving the best-ranked sides not to automatically qualify.

The qualifiers, taking place between April and July, will see each team play six games, facing the other teams in their group home and away.

Which pot are teams in and who could home nations face?

Although hosts Switzerland have already qualified for the tournament, they will still enter the draw as one of the top-ranked teams in League B.

Holders England could be drawn in the same group as Republic of Ireland, while Northern Ireland could face either Scotland or Wales in their group.

League A

Pot 1: Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands

Pot 2: England, Denmark, Italy, Austria

Pot 3: Iceland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway

Pot 4: Republic of Ireland, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic

League B

Pot 1: Portugal, Switzerland, Scotland, Wales

Pot 2: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary

Pot 3: Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Ukraine, Turkey

Pot 4: Malta, Israel, Kosovo, Azerbaijan

League C

Pot 1: Slovakia, Greece, Belarus, Romania, Albania

Pot 2: Latvia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania

Pot 3: Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, Cyprus, Andorra

Pot 4: Georgia, Moldova, Faroe Islands, Armenia

Who are in the play-offs?

After the group winners and runners up from each League A group have qualified, the remaining seven places will be taken by the best-ranked sides from all three leagues.

All third and fourth-placed teams from League A will qualify for the play-offs.

The top three teams in each League B group will also make the play-offs. If Switzerland finish in the top three of their group, then the best ranked fourth-place team from League B will qualify for the play-offs.

From League C, the five group winners and three best-ranked runners-up will reach the play-offs.

The 28 teams making the play-offs will be whittled down to seven, with the first round being split into two teams.

The eight sides from League A will be drawn against the eight sides from League C. The six best teams from League B will face the six worst teams from League B. Both sets of matches are two-legged.

In the second play-off round, the 14 teams will be split in seedings. The top seven ranked winners will be drawn against the other seven winners, and the winners of those fixtures will take up the final seven play-off spots.

England team to face Sweden. KO 8pm, live on ITV1. First of their Euro 2025 qualifiers

I'm not at the game (my recent trip to Wembley was enough!), and neither is my flag, but I know a few City fans there.

I know I say the same thing after every England game now, but every time I have seen them play in the past 18 months to two years they seem to get gradually worse

Apart from Clinton there's just not enough quality pushing the Euro winning players

The Swedes are pretty good and England are find it tough to break them down. I wish England would have tried some shots from distance.. Female goalkeepers aren’t known for the shot stopping ability.

Reckon the gaffer had a word at half time? "Shoot on sight lasses, they've got a woman in goal!"

2-0 to England at half time. Wasn't fully sure if the two penalties should be awarded. Surprised Greenwood couldn't convert the second one

Good goal from Lauren James too

Penalties did seem a bit soft but it seems any time a defender lifts their hands above their waist they are asking for trouble.Great that the game has no VAR though.

I see after warming the bench against Sweden and only getting a few minutes last night Rachel Daly has "retired from international football" this morning.

You'd be correct! Doesn't seem to be getting as much game time for England, and she's getting older (she's 32 now) so probably would want to focus on club football

I was surprised to hear the news, and have been a fan of her when playing for the Lionesses

First Lionesses game in a couple of years for me tonight, looking forward to it.

How have the 2nd and 3rd highest ranked sides on the world ended up in the same qualifying group? Going to be a huge game

Another FIFA decision to make the game more closely contested

Very tough back to back games this week, no idea why we'd want two tough games at this stage of the close season

'Grupo de Muerte' in the quallies, never mind the finals! We need to set our stall out strongly tonight and make the second game less uncertain - make them fear us more than we fear them.

Enjoy! Although I think England & France will still qualify for the Euros anyway

If you spot a Bristol City/England flag, it will most likely be the same one I usually have. I won't be at the game tonight (I'll be at a gig in London!) but a friend & co-owner of the flag will be at SJP

Sarina Wiegman's 50th game in charge of England. Mary Earps' 50th cap tonight

KO 8pm, live on ITV4.

Gutted I'm not at the game as I've never been to St James Park before!

Also, Toone (Ella) is in the toon (Newcastle)

So lost 1-2 in the first game and will need to be better on Tuesday night. Undone by two set-piece goals and (you have to say) two precise finishes. De Almeida will never score another like that. Seems we have seen the England performances of recent times in that we have a lot of the ball, move with some purpose but can't quite get on the end of a chance. France were laughing up their sleeves and could set up with lots of bodies funnelling back; difficult to break down.

Tactically France outsmarted us tonight, pressed well and forced errors, were better on set pieces and defended excellently. We got in behind a few times but the ball across lacked quality. Losing Earps early on is never going to help to be fair. Hemp was the main threat and Russo is a nuisance but a bit of composure was lacking at times.

Felt a draw would have been fair, but this just highlights some of the things we need to work on.

Over 42000 there which would have been a pipe dream outside of Wembley a few years ago, just highlights how far women's football has come

Fun night all in all

I hate to sound like a broken record but we're stumbling into bigger and bigger problems all the time

Since the world Cup we've been a shadow of the side we were before then and the biggest concern has to be the real lack of new talent coming through

Sarina continues to pick nigh on the same squad over and over again and too many are living off past performances and reputations.

I don't know if it is because there is no pathway or there just isn't the talent coming through but I can't see anything other than real struggles in upcoming matches

Will obviously come as no surprise but Mary Earps has withdrawn from the squad for tonight's game with injury. Birmingham City's Lucy Thomas has been called up from standby, although I expect that either Chelsea's Hannah Hampton or Man City's Khiara Keating would probably start in goal tonight

Greenwood should be starting in place of Carter. She's been our best defender this year, she adds height and has wonderful set piece delivery, especially wicked in swinging corners.

So much better than Friday. Constantly getting Toone and Stanway on the ball and the front three of Russo, Hemp and Mead are giving the French defence merry hell. Now to keep it going in the 2nd half.

Ironically the two French changes made then weaker

Bronze holding her defensive position instead of wondering off making a big difference defensively for us

A few City women representing Wales this evening, Liv Clark & Carries Jones in starting line up, Ella Powell & Ffion Morgan on the bench. 2-2 draw v Ukraine.

Well, well, a return to form! Essentially the same team and the same approach has worked so much better tonight. It shows that England have plenty of talent and potential - it just needs a small change of balance and we are as good as any nation. I thought so many players had a great game, but Charles at fullback was indomitable, Russo held up superbly and finished the best move of the game, the midfield was on it and Hampton's reflex save (from Bronze, it seems) was as good as anything Earps has done. All in all it was the sort of performance we had become used to in our winning days.

However, the group is still wide open and our final games are home to the Irish and (in a more practical order) away to Sweden. There might be more twists and turns yet.

The England Lioness's are the only women’s football that I bother watching and actually celebrated when Russo scored the first goal with a great strike and again when Hampton (?) pulled off a terrific save low to her left when she moving to her right.

I really enjoyed the game.

Assume you realise that Georgia Stanway scored the first goal, and Russo scored the second with a header

Perhaps you should watch closer lol

England squad for the final qualifier tonight against Sweden. Wiegman making a few changes.

Following results on Friday (where France beat Sweden and had enough points to qualify), England simply need a point tonight to qualify for the Euros

KO 6pm. Live on ITV1
