Var surely looking at that

Not a pen Saka looked for it.

Pen all day long. Neuer literally moves his leg towards Saka, with no intention or possibility of playing the ball, and fouls him.

VAR once again proving how pointless it is.

Why did he do that? Try to score rather than try to cheat a penalty. The mentality of today's footballers is wrong.

He kicks the leg of Neuer. Not a pen for me.

Looked at it a few times. Saka literally extends his right leg unnaturally with no purpose other than to make the contact. Not for me.

I think it's not clear cut.

Initial thought was blatant pen.

On 2nd viewing, Saka moves his leg for contact.

On 3rd viewing, both players have moved their legs, Neuer's defense would be that his is towards the ball, although it's a very clumsy challenge.

I think Bayern have got away with one because it was clumsy, but I can understand the point of view for no pen.

I'm saying this as someone who was brought up with an Arsenal supporting Dad and taken to Highbury (once) during the Invincibles season, and a relative who has just signed into their academy.

I'd have liked it to be a pen and I'd narrowly say it probably should have been.

Definitely not a penalty and that's all we're going to hear over next few days.

Bayern Munich played well I thought. Still got world class players which our media forgot about.

Not a clear and obvious error I guess?

The fact there is a debate says not .

Which is what VAR should be used for really .

Actually, seeing another angle, I can see the argument for. The second one here, watch Saka’s right leg. Looking for it. Equally first angle, goalie also steps in to him. Pretty sure he could have stayed on his feet and just put it in.

Arsenal Bayern has been one of the most breathless opening 35 mins of footy I can remember. Absolutely brilliant.

You've clearly forgotten Birmingham v Bristol City in December 🤷‍♂️

Ref bottled it…..or he used common sense

I think common sense for me. Although it could well be given, I don't really see how that affects Bayern enough to cry about. It was just a little miscommunication that had no consequence to the gameplay itself

Ref was excellent in his general demeanor and control of the game.

That Saka penalty shout is a real tricky one, and yet again just shows how hard it is to referee a game. I think you can make a pretty decent case for both shouts in reality, but for me it's not quite a pen. Saka clearly looks for it and although Neuer is a bit daft with his challenge, Saka deliberately leaves a trailing leg way too far out.

As 50:50 as it is, I think it's a superb decision from the ref. The easy way out would've been to give it.

Ipswich as good as up after Leicester and Leeds last night. Another one floats on by us.

How are they as good as up?  Still 5 games to go and this is the championship we are talking about here.  Leicester are massive favourites for automatic promotion so one spot left if the bookies are correct. Ipswich slight faves over Leeds right now

Yep don't think it would surprise anyone if Watford got a result tonight. Don't completely rule out Southampton (unlikely i know) but a game in hand and 2 on Leeds and still to play them and Leicester.

Leicester and Leeds forums in meltdown.

Farke has no plan B, leaving subs too late to change the game, passing along the back far too much, Rodon to Ampadu then to Meslier....rinse and repeat....

Maresca also getting slated and many saying he should go...playing the wrong players, we'll get battered if we go up...

Ipswich fans still 💯% positive about McKenna and think he's doing a great job.

Funny old game 🤣🤣

I’d love to be surprised!

They’ll probably score late on though .

Leicester are wobbling like crazy and Leeds incredible run post Xmas is slowing. Ipswich only need one of them to continue to wobble and they'll take advantage. Even then, if they finish third, they'd give anyone a run in the PO's. I'd be amazed if they're a Championship side next season.

Small squad?

That must be a joke? Suggest you look at the 18 man squad they had last night! Also, for all the talk of us (Ipswich) being fortunate with injuries, Leeds have barely had a big injury all season. All of their best players/spine (Meslier/Rodon/Ampadu/Gray/Kamara/Rutter/Summerville/James/Piroe) have featured in 35+ games out of 42 to date.

I don’t disagree with any of that

To be fair, in terms of success, Ipswich have long been a superior club to us

Past success maybe, but that's been a while though, if we are talking historically an awful lot of clubs could be considered superior.

Aye true, but 11 months ago they were a league below us. And historically speaking, we’re bigger than Bournemouth, Brentford, Luton. Our day has to come… right?

“As good as up” in third place with an inferior goal difference?!

With Boro at home , Coventry and Hull away not the easiest of runs but then which games are ?!

I am willing to overlook it seems to hit his head, his back arm is raised and the ball was travelling . Yes he should only give it if he's sure, but it's Eltringham.

What I like is the defender doesn't move and good old Geoff walks past him to give it.

Should be struck off, at least not selected for several weeks .

Bet he does us within a month .

All us mid table sides playing tonight certainly didn’t lie down at all .

Great win for you .

Us drawing at Ipswich .

Cardiff and Swansea winning .

I think Swansea still had a little bit of relegation concern but yes...

I'd put us, yourselves, at times Middlesbrough...possibly at times Cardiff into that category of unpredictable midtable sides. Granted Middlesbrough perhaps still have a crack at the top 6.

Very lucky for Swansea though

Yes guess it’s one of those subjective calls which go either way .

Probably do well until Cleverly gets the job permanently or someone else does and go back to normal !

Is it unlucky when Leverkusen had over 30 shots to West Ham's 1?

Not what I meant, very discilplined and blocked everything, ball evaded everyone for goal 1. Second a very well taken set piece. Good team BL but you can praise a defensive set up. Did you watch all of it?

I wasn't watching all of it, but in the bits I did watch it felt like a matter of time before BL scored.

Saw it all, didn't really get that feeling until after the first goal. Moyes knows how to set up a team to stifle, fabulous work ethic, no other plausible way to approach BL at the moment, work for breaks. Relentless nature told in the end. Probable Cup winners I'd say. On a massive roll. Amazing for such a small city.
