sglosbcfc
Moment football fan swung traffic cone at police after Bristol City match - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk) Very rare that football fans are kept behind after a game anymore. I think the longest I can remember being kept was about 30 minutes at Ninian, St Andrews and Twerton.

Must have been an hour at Millwall this season, but we were kept in the car park / outside area with Milwall fans lobbing all sorts off the verge above/behind us
Isawjonshaw
I got kept back for 3 1/2 hours watching Arsenal in the old concrete bowl of the Stadio Delle Alpie.

I thought it was just because the station was closed and they had to / wanted to escort us to the nearest tube station I'd imagine our lot are more of a concern than Stoke!

Remember the Swindon game really well , I was on the little hill in the park outside the open end where the away fans come out , i remember about 50 Swindon making a bolt for it got about as far as the rising sun then thought fxxk this and headed straight back towards the ground , made I laugh they got a kicking both ways . Was in October in the 2-0 defeat. If you come out of the ground you were forced to turn right towards train station but if you wanted to turn left you couldn’t as police had blocked road. Cardiff were playing up and dogs and riot police were called as they were trying to break cordon. There were lots of City trying to turn left out of ground but most gave up and walked around ground which took 30 mins to get to same point that would have taken 2 mins if allowed to turn left. We got out sharpish but the Police threw up a cordon just as we got onto the road. Being older types , and clearly looking pissed off , an officer let us through . Meant we got the earlier train , the "Special" we were told was cancelled too. Felt sorry for anyone caught up in that delay, I imagine the the next train was chaos. The stupid thing is most of us would have been long gone before Cardiff even left the stadium. My daughter and I left straight after the 2nd goal. Got caught at the front of the cordon, kept back for 20 minutes then got caught in massive traffic jam on the industrial estate. Had we been allowed to walk back to the car we would have been close to home instead of an hour after the game ended still being in sight of the stadium. I remember as they let them out with their coaches backed into the gap between open end and dolman there was a mass surge where many city fans got past the police line and took their vengeance out on swindle fans trying to board their coaches as said the atmosphere was toxic and I remember a police van being turned over in the park near the gates chaos !

sglosbcfc
If I remember correctly, there were several pitch invasions during the course of the 90 mins v Swindon. City fans ran from the Dolman, climbed onto the fencing and traded punches with Swindon fans. Anyone else remember this?

RobImps
Don't recall being kept in the ground last season at all! We were held up for 5mins on the roads outside & then the police kept us penned in for about 90mins in the pouring rain outsider the station as multiple trains came and went.... It was an absolute carve up

I can go back further , this time away to Swindon , the time the terracing got ripped up city fans in the roof and in a nightclub that had a lunch time disco city fans were basically doing what they wanted , I remember walking up some stairs as a gaming machine came in the opposite direction , not much interaction with Swindon fans that day think they pretty much stayed out of the way
redkev
Also remember a time at Peterborough where a few young lads ( shirters I believe ) got a bit of a kicking , the next year Peterborough didn’t know what hit them , city fans all over the town centre , I’m sure a Peterborough lad actually come up to a group of city fans and just basically said fair play we’re not competing with your lot Edited May 29 by redkev

Thing about City is that there were groups from all over this area - Taunton, Bath, Portishead, Barton Hill, Knowle West, etc to name a few who when all together could cause mayhem. I know most of the “happy clappers” on here will disagree but away with Bristol City was great fun in the 80s and 90s. @redkev I was at Swindon away when the terracing got ripped up. 4th Div days if I remember right? Nasty atmosphere that day. Just knew it was going to be lively. Just would not get away with it nowadays.
