EURO 2024

It’s a Southgate result.

If all that is important is results we won. Other England sides in the past would not have done. They battled hard.

If it’s how we play, the performance for large parts was poor. Consistently our performance is less than the sum of our parts. That is what Southgate is judged on.

So, who knows.

A sigh of relief to keeping Serbia out. After sitting back for most of the game.

Sorry, can’t be happy or proud of that. Absolutely shocking. I’ll be looking forward when Southgate finally goes. Fraud of a Head Coach.

That was painful .

Saka good first half.
Bellingham good start.
Pickford important save.

Other than that.
Questions over Foden and TAA starting next game.
We need Shaw fit for balance .

Important to win the first game though.

Awful

But...3 points. England have often been awful in their first games at tournaments, and only got a draw (or worse). Take the win, hope for better. No more TAA in midfield.

Welcome (back) to tournament football one and all. It’s largely crap and boring at this stage. Win your games however you can, and hope your best players don’t get injured. We’ve qualified now, pretty much.

That was almost the perfect first game. Second half they had absolutely nothing to lose with the others drawing, they could throw everything at us.

Massively rode our luck, but I’d rather get used to digging deep with a makeshift defence now than for the first time in the knockouts. Pickford had one save to make really. We were pretty solid overall.

Foden was ******* terrible. I’d start Gordon on Tuesday.

Why, time and time again are we so poor when ahead? Great teams when a goal up just drive you bonkers controlling the game and the ball. We just go deeper and deeper. It’s a mentality thing or how Southgate wants to play thing. That was a shocking second half.

As good as he might be at breaking up play etc, tonight has highlighted how one sided Rice's game is. All right side, no left foot.

Saka had the full back for toast 1st half, never passed him once 2nd half.

Guehi calm and steady alongside Stones. Foden was hopeless.

Typical performance. More proof we won’t win a thing under him. He doesn’t learn or have the bollocks to make big calls.

We are unlikely to win under any manager.  We ain’t as good as many think, Serbia ain’t a bad team, have threats.  So good result.  We don’t have depth of quality I’m afraid.  We can defend a game from ahead with subs, but I don’t see us chasing a game late.

Why were they going on about that save. It was as easy as it gets for any keeper
