The obvious error has been in trying to be too clever in the negotiations & not getting this deal done first & then working backwards with the remainder of our budget to secure our other targets. Burnley have always had a price they would sell at, if we’d matched it he’d have been here by June.

They made it very clear it was the priority position & he was the priority player imo. Personally do think it makes our window a 5 or 6/10 rather than an 7 or 8 if he/someone else in that role doesn’t come off, and fast

Agree the number 10 role has been a top priority for over a year that's the reason we loaned twine in the first place manning saying " we need that person who can unlock doors " not sure what an earth the recruitment team are doing surely we have a list just feels like we only have 1 name on the number 10 list and that's twine. But we know he's wanted a 10 for ages and we know it will be key for how he wants to set the team up. That's the failing. The old (not ITK) Ian Gay new this, which is why he was constantly spouting that line about Conway being a sportscar engine in a lawnmower. It now feels like we've got a muscle car instead, with some great looking Japanese wheels but still no gearbox.

numbeast
I agree with the opinion we need to move on, but we don't know what talks have been going on behind the scenes. We may have improved our offer only for Parker to step in and put the deal on hold. If there is any hope I'm sure Manning will want to wait it out as Twine was/is his preference which could prove costly should Twine stay at Burnley and we miss out on other players that could fill the role. Things need to move on either bysigning Twine soon or, more likely, move on to the next on the list.

We already have Mehmeti, Sykes and Bell. Manning didnt play a system last year that utilised wingers, preferring to use them as wing backs. So we got strikers we needed, but not our 1st or probably not even 2nd choice. Basically we got bodies (punts) in through the door. I reckon we've missed out on at least 3 preferred targets, so far. 5

Mr Popodopolous
Is it possible that he was in one wage in PL, one in Championship.
