Come on, England

I think there's a difference between incompetence and corruption. I honestly don't think there's a secret plan to get England into the final.

Just Southgate's cunning plan.

Rice is extremely over rated

What have you been watching. Dropping in front of the back line or even deeper when one of our defenders gets caught up field he has saved us time and time again this tournament. By far and away he's the best box to box midfielder England have.

This Ref was banned for match fixing .

That said , studs showing in a challenge is a foul anywhere . Pen IMO.

Good point 1960.

If that challenge happens anywhere else on the pitch it would almost certainly be a foul and likely a yellow card for a high boot and studs showing.

He might be but he is still overrated. Look at Rodri, that’s a world class box to box player. Different gravy.

Southgate has obviously been using football's equivalent of "rope a dope" in the earlier games to lull everyone into a false sense of security

Defender stuck his leg out to block the ball and Kane kicked him?

Fortunate penalty but you'd really struggle to argue we should be losing based on the performance so far, more of the same in the second half hopefully

Still a bit worried about how easily the Dutch have beaten our press a few times and broken, but I'd rather see that than too much caution

Our best 45 mins by a county mile. Only disappointment is we are not ahead.

Agree....need to convert whilst we're on top....don't want to come to regret it later. Much better performance. Playing at pace with a high press and overloading the wings is yielding some opportunity....just need some composure in the final third.

All to play for....don't want extra time....let's end it within the 90.

Playing quicker , Foden more central , Walker getting up supporting Saka , Mainoo getting close to the forwards , and even players taking Kane's space when he drifts . Much , much better so far.

I did say the best England have. We're not allowed to pick Rodri.

What over box to box midfielders are better? The Dutch don't have one.

Bellingham is a better box to box player for starters.

Not saying Rice is bad. He is decent. Just overrated.

Very good performance, Foden taking the game to them,

Lucky with the pen, cant see how it can be, would be livid if given against us

French commentators were unequivocal, late and high on Kane.

It's a foul anywhere else on the pitch, as Ian Wright points out.

Yes, but my point was that that the self-same challenge by the defender, whether or not he blocked the ball and Kane kicked him, would almost certainly be given as a foul.

I'm not saying that I think that sort of challenge should be a foul, but then I played and watched football from the late 60s, so think the game has gone far too soft. However, using today's standards that would be judged a foul, so why should there be a different standard just because it's in the penalty area?

Doesn’t matter now, and happy we scored of course. Overall deserved. The point for me however is that the Dutch player does not make contact with Kane. It’s Kane’s follow through that catches the Dutch player. Just my view.

Much improved.

With Wrighty, raised foot with studs showing. Dangerous and reckless. Not often given in the penalty box, but take it.

Handbrake off, better late than never. Receive and power forward. Proper football.

Think Saka could give the fullback a run to the occasionally. Time for Kane and Bellingham to impose themselves on the game now, as Foden has.

I'm in the minority , me and Ian Wright , about the Pen.

For me , anywhere you go into a challenge studs up  , foul . Gary Neville saying should get leeway in the box, who made that rule ?
It isn't blocking a shot , the defender raises studs in the challenge . I would have been fuming if it hadn't been given , when you see those given every day of the week anywhere else on the pitch .

What a top player Mainoo is going to be.

Unbelievable that a youngster with little experience can be so composed and mature on the ball.

Strong , skilfull,  creative - he already is a top player.

Not sure we've ever had such a player.

Him, Bellingham and Foden are serious talent.

I would still be tempted to give Shaw most or even all of the 2nd half.

Looks like you get your wish.

Hope he's been training fully since the last game. Should add real balance.

If you use that argument I think pretty much every corner would result in a penalty. There is holding, shirt pulling and obstruction of players by defenders virtually every time that is routinely ignored by officials but would be a FK in open play.

Did I miss if there was a reason he made the change? Was it purely tactical?

Interesting he's picked this game to do it in where we've played relatively well compared to a few of the other performances recently

Agree Bellingham could be a better box to box player

But I think he see himself as a number 10

He is not even close to Foden playing that roll

With Mpabbe coming in this summer at Real I imagine they will change their style and we will see Bellingham drop into the number 8 role where he feels it’s his best position.
