Just watched Chelsea v Besiktas played in "neutral" Germany because of the political problems in Turkey.

The stadium was 98% full of Turks most of whom live in Germany.Apparently 1 in 20 people in Germany are Turkish - hardly a neutral venue. The place was drapped in Turkish flags.

The game had its predictable crowd problem with missiles being thrown onto the pitch to point where the Chelsea bench had to put up umbrellas to protect themselves. The second half was delayed by 7mins because of the crowd throwing missiles. It was a disgrace and now upto UEFA to punish Besiktas severly. If those scenes had been at an English ground all hell would break loose.

As for the game, Besiktas got what they deserved - nothing. They lost 2-0 and are now out of the Champions league.

Respect has to go Chelsea - they rose above the intimidation and were faultless and very proffessional.

They played in Germany because they are so many Turks in that country, it was not to punish Besiktas or the Turkish F.A.

The game was moved because Al-quieda (sp) the terrorist group are blowing up British interests in Turkey.

Well done Chelsea. I think it was about 13 seasons ago when we beat Chelsea 3-1 at Ashton Gate in the FA cup. BCFC and Chelsea have gone in very different directions since then  ;)  Chelsea are set to become the best in Europe and we're languishing in Div 2. Is there no justice?  :D

Remember that well! Chelsea had a bad, bad reputation about that time and on the way out City fans were giving them loads.

Suddenly the Chelsea fans surged trying to break through the gates by what is now the Carling Atyeo. For a moment there was a lot of panic and i'll always remember this woman trying to drag her son (literally) in her hurry to get away. Wasn't good.

As for last night. It was a great result in difficult circumstances. You can definitely see Chelsea picking up some silverware this season; all the new players have gelled quickly and play a great passing game; very suited to European competition.

Glad to see all the kak surrounding Ranieri since the start of the season has subsided; he's doing well and is a good example of how to manage a top 3 side; unlike Professor twatto and dickie ticker :)
