Not always. If you take the much maligned Cornick, he wasn’t signed to improve the team but to be a squad player. And he’s done his job well no matter what some say when you consider relative cost. McGuane has been brought in as a cover central midfielder, because our head coach knows him and would rather have him than an academy player on the bench. He wasn’t getting in the squad at Oxford and hasn’t played at this level. He wasn’t brought in to improve the team but to add depth to the squad (and replace TGH). Debate/discuss if it was worthwhile on that basis as opposed to being better than what we had (your real question is whether he blocks the pathway). 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
