8 pages on their pre-match thread, containing lots of choice words about Manning, a few OTIB screenshots and I even stumbled across what must be my evil twin, 'OUFCGav'Ā šŸ¤£

I'm really looking forward to Saturday. Definitely has some extra spice to it. They're confident. Many of us are confident. Something has to give!

They'll be loud and proud, we need to match them. Get behind the boys and LM for the duration of the game and lets show those tossers why they won't be a Championship club for long.

Mm, there's at least one quote in there that I can't agree with!

Speak for yourself Gav!! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

šŸ¤£Ā I wasn't going to say 'we're confident' but downgraded it! Maybe I should have gone further.

I think we'll be better. Strong gut feeling about Saturday.

Oxford are in for a right shock. Whenever we have a big home crowd the team always turns up and absolutely annihilates whoever is unfortunate enough to be playing us. Chuck in our far superior manager and 3 points is a given.Ā

Always hate matchday when you know a win will still leave the team in a rubbish league position. Still, we need to start somewhere.

You must have hated the last 10 years following City then... can't remember the last time a win but us anywhere but a rubbish league position!

A convincing 3 or 4 nil win with fast, free flowing football that gives us all hope would be nice. Will give Tinnion to talk about in December when we are going through another bad patch.

A 1-0 win off the back of another mediocre performance will do us no favours long term. Will ease the pressure on BT and LM with no real progress being made.

Feels like results mean nothing nowadays.

What could possibly go wrong?

Add to that, Oxford themselves started the sesson quite well albeit all 3 wins came at Home.

Depends on the nature of it imo.

If its like Millwall (in the aspect of us being very shakey defensively) then it won't be very confidence inspiring off the back of how bad we've been at the back compared to last season.

Hello Oxford. Weā€™re going to beat you 3-0 and your ā€œladsā€ will spend all day hiding. Ā Feel free to quote meĀ

I donā€™t think theyā€™ll be hiding but I think they smash a toilet cubicle, a few may hop the advertising board when they inevitably score and thereā€™s a possibility their proper lot may run the gauntlet of stupidly finding themselves in the park after the game (we know how that works out, donā€™t we). THIS IS NOT THE GAS.

We could win by a decent score line that'll just paper over the bloody big cracks

It should be quite a spectacle on Saturday, with a sold out away end. They are in form & we are out of sorts. It should make for a good match. I only hope that we turn up.

I think it's fair to say to all Oxford fans good luck for the rest of the season and you can take your old coach back with you after the match.

I think because it is a must not lose for Manning then we are going to see him return to his default which is being cautious.Ā

Potentially I see us lining up with a back 5, at home to a newly promoted team.Ā

I don't like it. It's self preservation. It's I before team but it's what I expect LM to do.Ā

If you set up at home against someone like Burnley or Leeds etc then you can understand that. But I don't think the Ashton Gate crowd will have much patience for that kind of set up at home to a newly promoted team.Ā

If we start losing then the place is going to turn.

I think heā€™s more likely to persevere with what heā€™s been doing and then blame the players if it goes wrong.Ā

a back 3 would be decidedly better than the empty left hand side abomination we've had recently. an additional CB does not mean we are being defensive necessarily. In possession is can look like a 1 or 2 at the back if we play the right people in the right spots.Ā

Oxford will pack the midfield and aim to keep it tight. This is exactly the kind of game where we struggle to break a team down and then concede a goal from some hapless defending.

We have the players to beat Oxford. The problem is we have no idea whether we have the manager too.Ā

They will definitely be organised in their mid block, and wonā€™t be over-fussed if we play around in our own half. Ā Nor will they be worried about playing long, missing out their midfield, if he press their defenders. Ā With Harris and Goodrham especially they are willing runners for an out-ball. Ā Both have been good at feeding off punts but managing to retain possession for their side.

At bare minimum we make the playoffs IMO but our confidence would've gone through the rool ans Wolves, after running away wirh it would suddenly have been dragged back into the scrap- cold, hectic time of the calendar..not playing until Wednesday 3rd January teams below them closing further.

Was huge and pivotal for both sides- the Wolves celebrations at the end showed that.

Just for your information, it looks like we'll be having a minutes applause, in the 24th minute, for a young fan of ours who took his life in the week.

Ā

Jack Badger was 24, a local non league player, and an Oxford fan, such a sad loss. If you feel like joining in I'm sure it would be appreciated, but if not, no problem, at least you now know what it's all about.

One thing you can rely on is the football family coming together for things like thisĀ

Hopefully someone makes contact on social media to spread awareness šŸ™

Some comment on their forum that we operate at similar levels to them? I could have sworn we've been at this level for 15 out of the last 17 years whilst they've been a lower league club (or worse non league) for almost the entirety of this millennium

I'm finding them a very strange fanbase , can see why they had run ins with the Gas , very similar characteristicsĀ

They punched well above their weight for a few years in the 80/90s.

It seems to have gone to their heads.

Unfortunately, Hull City are not the only club Dean effing WindAss has scored a thunderbolt for while playing against us.

Won one more major trophy than we have.

Played in the top flight more recently than we have.

Catastrophic fall from grace since then though, several seasons in the Conference. So it's very much a boom and bust story.
