Admin phantom Posted Tuesday at 15:28 Admin Share Posted Tuesday at 15:28 I just saw this on social media, there are a few names I had forgotten about that appear on the list, am I correct in saying none of them still manage now, though the Scarborough manager has only recently called it a day
Back of the Dolman Posted Tuesday at 15:37 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:37 Some famous names there and quite a few that have passed away now
Silvio Dante Posted Tuesday at 15:39 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:39 To be fair, it’s a list from 37 years ago. Considering most managers - certainly back then - didn’t start until their mid thirties and there will be a few far older than that at the time of list, the people are more likely to be dead than still working
City37 Posted Tuesday at 16:18 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:18 Christ that makes me feel old - but love reading old stuff like this. Some wicked haircuts in football during 70s + 80s - just look at John Duncan there. Miss those days.

Oldham, then D2 are now in Non- League as are 6 in D3;and 7 in D4. Be interesting to identify the teams that replaced them.

Eddie Hitler Posted Wednesday at 07:02 Share Posted Wednesday at 07:02 Neil Warnock the Scarborough years. I think we can all see him managing again though yes technically he isn't currently. He started at Gainsborough Trinity in 1980 and was briefly interim manager at Aberdeen this year. A 44 year career and still rolling. I find it amazing that he was a football manager when I had not long started secondary school and is still doing it now that I have retired. The guy is Robomanager.

That ^ ^ is what our head coach recruitment looks like now, in the 2020s. Were Manning to go tomorrow, this is what Steve and Jon will be looking for: a Mick, a Steve, a Cyril. Someone that "knows the league." We have "modernised" in some areas - we chance our arm with a few Johnny Foreigner Carlos Kickaballs on the pitch every now and then - but when it comes to management, or head coach, it's like Steve is advised by Sir Alfred Ramsey on this. Timid, inward-looking, conservative.
