Sheffield Wednesday at home match thread

Here we go , game day!! One of those difficult games for me!

Watching, while working without sound. Trying to multitask.

Feels like tonight is a season setter.

Win but ugly - battle lines don't move

Win and play well -and the overton window shifts quite a bit

Lose - regardless of how play! And negativity is going to bite that much harder.

.........

4 points from the next two is needed and a must!

Tonight's starting 11 - will tell a big story about just what the football is going to look like.

Generally speaking -

If it's two of -knight/bird/Williams and no complains from me. As they just don't go

Tough one tonight, Wednesday yet to pick up an away point this year.
Think they will be very rigid and difficult to break down. Really hope we can be clinical with our chances tonight.
Would be astounded if Williams doesn’t start tonight, would personally drop Twine and Yu

Williams in and potentially Sykes.

Hopefully 3 points.

Yep. Crystal Palace at home way back, with national coverage via MotD, was it December and they hadn’t won a match at all or at least an away match. Cue 0-1 defeat. You Reds. Always believe.

Rotherham at home on a filthy wet Tuesday when they hadn`t won all season, were tailed off at the bottom and were truly awful.

Yep, they won 2-0

He and Knight together isn’t working . Too lightweight as a pairing and not a chance in hell that Knight would be dropped as he’s been playing well !

Thought second half v Oxford when paired together for the first time, they were pretty good.

So twine in middle (unless two upfront)

And he understands two of knight/bird/Williams only

The rest is about a manager making moves, game by game.

......

This was the first step, getting out of his own way with selection which he's done two games in A row!!! Now we have a base to build from. For him to show he's the man for this job..not win or bust but over time.

Bit of an odd season for Wednesday so far. A couple of good wins against Argyle and West Brom shows that there are goals there but from their defeats it looks as though they are as likely to concede three as they are to score them.

If City go at them hard from the start this should be a comfortable win but if we resort to that ponderous kicking the ball all the way back to Max and start playing it out from the back again nonsense, it could be a long night.

We should be good for at least a 2-0 win but who the hell knows these days?

It is odd that people seem to think that same players will play every game.

Especially when we pretty much recruited to broaden the squad rather than elevate it with one or two "big signings".*

*Twine the exception some may argue I guess...but even there he's not really a massive name or fee.

I'd imagine there was a plan to rest players at different points in the season and that - rightly or wrongly - Manning believes a midfield of Knight and Williams will be good enough to win the match. We'll see if he's right.

Exactly this mate- it really isn’t rocket science that it is a squad game

So they can turn the lights off in the stands for a light show but not for the actual game?

Barry Bannon love in on Sky.

When there are significantly more people walking around pre-match too. Make it make sense.
