Following the Swans and the Owls the Robins take on the Bluebirds….. https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?&q=when+the+red+red+robin+comes+bob+bobing+along&&mid=8221AFF3F81445C77B7F8221AFF3F81445C77B7F&&FORM=VRDGAR Perfect time for Bird to swoop and score the winner.

There are four Welsh teams in the EFL, can you name them?

Ahead of the season starting it was suggested that injury meant Isaak Davies would be out for four months, https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tonights-cardiff-city-news-gutted-29674199

Etete would be out for three months, also due to a hamstring injury and Jamila Collins, six to eight weeks.

They will be boosted by the return of three players from injury for Sunday's Championship encounter.

Winger Callum O'Dowda is available after missing Tuesday's 1-0 win over Millwall as a precautionary measure.

Midfielder Manolis Siopis returns having been absent for the previous two matches.

And centre-back Jasper Daland - who interim manager Omer Riza had said earlier this week was close to a return - is in contention after an ankle injury caused the Norwegian to miss four games.

Officials

Referee is Robert Madley, assisted by Blake Antrobus and Darren Williams, the fourth official is Leigh Doughty. I have a fiver on Joe Williams being booked within 15 minutes!

On Tuesday they finally secured their first win of the season, at the eighth attempt, as they beat Millwall. Perry Ng scored just the third goal of the managerless Bluebirds’ league campaign as he powered in a first-half header from Joe Ralls’ corner.

They claimed all three points last time they were in BS3, https://youtu.be/xTqyZoFOY90?si=xEGr9ejDeFQQFbtk

They signed winger Chris Willock from Queens Park Rangers. The 26-year-old was the Bluebirds' first summer signing after agreeing a three-year deal. The former Arsenal youth player joined on a free transfer having been out of contract following four years at Loftus Road.

Also signed Cercle Brugge centre-back Jesper Daland in August  for an undisclosed fee which is thought to be around £3.5m.

Back at their place at the end of October we were down to the bare bones and this was our squad:

It finished 2-0 and proved to be NPs last game in charge.

In January they signed Liverpool defender Nat Phillips (26) on loan for the rest of the season. On 31 January Famara Diédhiou signed on loan.

They sacked their manager Erol Bulut in September, six winless games into the 2024-25 season with one goal and one point at the foot of the Championship table in their worst league start for 94 years, https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-sack-boss-erol-9574518 and https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cvgw152jg2lo

Omer Riza is holding the fort and has thrown his hat in the ring for the permanent position.https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/omer-riza-hopeful-over-cardiff-30064155

However, the bookies' favourite for the job is Steven Schumacher, who has said he's ready "whenever the right opportunity comes up" following his surprise sacking by Stoke City.

Players in the recent past who’ve played for both teams include Diedhiou, Pack, Flint and O’Dowda. Going back Brian Clark and Peter Hooper (who also played for Bristol Rovers) represented both teams. When Hooper’s career was ended in 1966 by a bout of peritonitis he moved to North Devon where he played non-league football for Barnstaple Town. After retiring from professional football, Hooper was landlord of The Three Pigeons in Bishops Tawton, where he lived, before spending 19 years as a probation assistant in Barnstaple.

There are more than 10 million sheep in Wales which accounts for over 80% of the Welsh agricultural economy. In New Zealand, while the number has fallen as the country has diversified into beef and swine, there are 30 million sheep. That is about 1 person for every 7 sheep and in Wales the proportion is 1 for every 3. The subject of sheep is relevant to the subject of football because in the relatively distant past a sheep's bladder was used in the manufacture of a football although it was usually procured from the pig family. I have no statistics on the best sheep bladder but if one assumes that the wool from the Welsh mountain sheep has historically been considered of inferior quality to the English sheep, according to Robert Trow-Smith in his book 'A History of British Livestock Husbandry' , the so too the internals. Sheep have often been used in a derogatory fashion, including on this forum, to talk about football fans from the other side of the bridge.

The Severnside derby has a special place in the calendar and there is certainly no love lost between us and them! Let’s hope we can show some passion as well as professionalism and emerge with three points and there is no need for ‘unjust booing’ https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/its-really-unjust-liam-manning-9600851?utm_source=bristol_live_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=auto_bcfc_newsletter&utm_content=&utm_term=&ruid=eda3a0ce-34ec-4a85-96cd-ae68727a6b80

And the answer is, Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport. In 1982 our away fixture at Newport was significant as we were on the verge of administration and without the Ashton Gate eight this could have been our last ever game.

Where is your evidence they’re starting to click ? They scraped past Millwall midweek for their first win of the season . A draw will be a poor result for us

Indeed mate. Given Cardiff’s position we really should win tomorrow, but who knows in a derby game, anything can happen.

On the flip side a loss would be grim for a number of reasons!

A loss tomorrow followed by a tough spell of fixtures could well see us in the bottom 3 by the end of October.

Really hope not, obvs, but think tomorrow is a very big day for Manning.

I would agree with this albeit Middlesbrough seem not to be converting dominance to wins and Stoke are typically up and down but not exactly flying atm...albeit have won their last 2 vs us..

Tomorrow is very important though, no doubt.

We've got a crap record against Cardiff, they'll stick 11 behind the ball, we'll huff and puff and probably concede from a set piece in the second half.

Don't have any faith in Manning to get us up for a derby at home, even though we really need to win this one. 0-1.

If the players aren't fired up ( any players, any season, under any manager) in playing in our only real derby against a team that is close to the gas in unpleasantness then they don't deserve to wear the shirt.

So yes- really.

2 way street? I'm not saying you're wrong btw but should we be lifting the team in the same way they can lift us?

We certainly made a difference against Millwall but the general feeling of apathy, at the mo, makes that unlikely to happen tomorrow.

Yep. They could've just got a point what with Millwalls chance right at the end of the game.

If we approach this in the same pathetic way we did last season then I'm afraid Mr Manning might be yearning for the boos he got on Wednesday come the end.

Exactly two way street. I watched the game against Wednesday on tv and really didn’t hear much from the crowd. Those who were there might disagree. But the boos were loud and clear.

If Mr Manning starts 442 mind you he will get everyone behind him.

Crowds can only get excited with bore ball if they are winning, otherwise watching that is just a chore.

Cardiff are rock bottom on only 4 points which is embarrassing, surely if we lose tomorrow thats the end of the road for manning and hoggy,? Not sure how you can recover from a defeat like that and to a rival aswell. If we lose tomorrow I'm done with manning would be ridiculous even if we drew.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Manning got the poke after playing Cardiff.

Lansdown has always given managers time. Manning will get more than most imo. After the shit show & lies after NP’s sacking , the top six squad statement then spending quite heavily this summer when apparently there was no money , sacking this early in a season will just admit they failed again.
I do feel though that rightly or wrongly manning won’t get much time from us as a fanbase because of the way the lansdowns have run the club football wise over the last year . With that also brings back all the memories of his managerial balls ups previously& worst of all , constantly repeating previous mistakes. I didn’t renew my season ticket for the first time in 25 years, mainly due to the lansdowns . They’ve wasted so many opportunities to progress it’s beyond laughable now.
For all the off field infrastructure that he’s got right , it’s the opposite end of the scale football wise. He’s wasted millions on poor decisions . No matter what happens , we’re heading one way . Whether it’s relegation this season or next , it has the feel around the club like it did after mciines came in . The club massively needs a change at the top in all aspects .
I said it in the summer & I haven’t changed my mind , I think we’ll be in a relegation battle this season .

If we dont beat Cardiff, we dont deserve to be in this div.

We have some decent players but are way off a decent team and thats down to the manager.

NO excuses, we win or he needs to clear his desk and walk away

Even at this relatively early stage of the season this feels like a must win game.

After 48 years watching City my gut instinct on Manning is far from favourable.

I really hope he can find a playing style /winning formula but from what I’ve seen so far i don’t see it ending well.

Two weeks ago we had no chance, now bulut has gone there is some hope. Daland needs to play, if he isn’t we could be in trouble. Not seen us with such a composed confident CB for years. Bulut never played the right players, Robertson (who was on loan at Pompey all last season) we signed from Man City, colwil and Tanner all need to play, they like to attack and bulut never played them together. Hence we always lost. A draw would be decent enough.

What an opportunity today against a mostly out of form Cardiff.

A win today fires us up 7 places in the league - the coaching team better have the players fired up for this.

A spirited performance with an out & out desire to win this match is expected. Anything less is not acceptable.

I believe in the players, less confident in the tactics.

Could be a turning point today in either direction.

Easy win for BCFC.

3-0.

Twine, Vyner, Mayulu.

We’ll carve open their weak defence with precise patterns of play, Yu providing two assists and Mehmeti one.

or.

back in the real world this will be a dour boring game, 0-1 Cardiff.

and. Shouldn’t the players be fired up for EVERY game?

Our most exp championship striker will no doubt start on the bench, while no great fan of Wells he is the best we got atm......which in itself says it all really.

Cardiff will concentrate on our widemen which will be our strongest threat.

Seen not a lot from our millions spent yet, a win is a must, much tougher games coming up.

Could get bullied out of this, we will see.

Draw fav imo but hoping we sneak it 1-0
