Cash In On Leroy....

Why are people calling Leroy a one season wonder. This was the first season where Leroy was a first choice player, but in the 2 seasons before that, when he was very young, we could all see he knew where the goal was, he just wasnt given the chance (not saying that was a good or bad thing, apart from that day out to cardiff!). Does anyone have his goals/ games ratio for city before this season?

Si.

No-one is calling him a one-season wonder but until the end of next season we won't know either way. It is a gamble.

If we get a good offer in that could help the club balance the books and/or strengthem the squad in other critical areas then do we reject it and gamble on another 25+ next season?

How much more is a young, prolific striker in division 3 going to be worth after 2 good years rather than one?

He is now worth in the region of £700,000 to £1,000,000 + sell-ons. After another good season (or half season) is he really going to fetch much more than that? Possibly another £200K-£300K.

However if next season he struggles or gets injured and only manages 12-15 goals how much will his value drop? Maybe to £250k-£400K?

Third division clubs rarely have the luxury of being able to take that gamble. City can't afford to and I suspect an offer of £700K+ add-ons will be enough to tempt the board to cash in now.

If he stays then great, but lets not get carried away after just one season. If the quality of the teams is higher in this division next year (and let's face it, that won't be difficult) then Leroy may find he doesn't have as many opportunities next time around.
