You must have had a pretty decent life then if that's the worst you've had things. Consider yourself lucky.

Am I right in thinking you don't much rate Tinnion either?

I have had and continue to have a very decent life, I was also present when we slipped down to division 4 and believe me even then the players looked more of a team than under Benny's reign. They just wern't very good!

Yes you are correct in the assumption that I did not and still do not agree with the appointment of Tinnion or rate him very much, however I would like nothing better than for him to prove me wrong.

I don't think many people would argue that Benny was a particularly good manager. Most would, I think, agree that he was a pretty good coach, though. He had a big impact on developing players like Jim Brennan, Matt Hill and Aaron Brown.

I wouldn't joke about that!

I for one would welcome him back though. He's an excellent coach. Just not a terribly good manager.

i thought he was a good coach too, but would i not have got ridiculed (sp) for seriously suggesting that?

i really liked him just felt sorry for him because he couldn't get his views across as he could bearly say a word in english!

john ward should never have gone! i ams sure he was pushed before he fell by a certain Mr Davidson!!

Sadly it does appear to be true.

Wolves Official Site

According to this report, he informed BCFC that he didnt want the job on Monday, why oh why does this story then appear on the website on Tuesday when its obviously not going to happen??

I would not like to see Benny back at all, while I would say he HELPED in the developement of the players you mention he was not solely responsible.

What I would like to see, as it is now apparant that Tinnion isn't going anywhere' is an experienced british coach like was promised to get us out of this crap league.

Connor would have been the ticket but even then I would prefer to see someone brought in who has NEVER worked at the gate before, I feel this is the only way to get rid of the dead wood sitting in comfort zones to make this club a success

I couldnt believe it i had persuaded probably one of the best future Managers but the board were against it"

This man in question which i believe was telling me the truth was a certain ??????

Guest Hope and pray

I am not convinced that Terry Connor would have been the experienced coach that we are looking for. His coaching career to date is nothing special, he's never been a manager or worked at the highest levels of the game. Sure, he might be a nice bloke and have past links with City but what else is there.

The one outstanding candidate in my book would be Terry Cooper. Who knows he might just fancy being a bit more involved without the pressure of day to day management.

His one regret was siding with JL & gang over this appointment.

Apart from Taylor, SD had Moyes lined up too.

Didn't think the TC thing would come off.

I wonder why the move was not right for him ?

I reckon that certain people who were here when TC was here before were an influnence on his decision.

Any guess's ? dance.gif

Some of my worst days ever supporting that clowns team

Wasnt his team it was ward that bought all the attackers at the start of the season, signed hutchings and signed julian watts. Lennartson wasnt bought in as a manager but a head coach with ward working with the team on matchdays, but ward had a sissy fit and stomped off, even after he said he didnt know what more to do!!!!!!!!

Nice hats as well

Got it in one - Ward was an A1 d#ck head who threw his toys out the pram when Davidson got one of the best coaches in Europe to help him when he said he didn't know what to do. Then he had the gall to say he wasn't going to be no.2 to anyone, grabbed his armfuls of loot and beggered off to Wolves to be no.2 - absolute p#nce

I know its probably nonsense but maybe he wanted to stay in a higher league working with an ex international manager, at a club somewhat bigger than our own.

And why do we go public at all, particularly as Wolves seem to be upset that we have? There's a conspiracy theory to be had here but I'll be darned if I can work one out - it's just plain puzzling. dunno.gif

What I like is the fact that Connor found out last week about the approach, but turned us down on Monday. When do city release the story? Monday afternoon? Very very odd. buy then they already knew he wasn't interested.

just seem to release stories for the sake of it!

It was only Davidsons publicity machine that proclaimed him to be 'one of the best coaches in Europe' noone else had ever heard of the clown!

And remind me what he's done since he left us?

Benny was fine, had the team playing excellent football (after they started trying) and proved himself expert at bringing on the youngsters.

He'd be ideal for us.

He said he'd be back at City one day and i hope he is. chant6ez.gif

I challenge you to name me 3 games under Lennartsson when the team played excellent football.

I can name you 25+ when we were turgid.

edit: to Nogbad.

I get confused-often-was Lennartson the international coach?

Or an international coach driver taking old ladies to Paris and ting?

Swindon Town (H) 3-1

West Brom(A) 2-2

And one for luck, Grimsby(H) 4-1. wink.gif

Not just turgid, we were made into a laughing stock at some of them.

Two games in particular, Bradford away and Wolves home was down to the players making their point and thinking more of the departed manager than the club or the fans.

The players made us a laughing stock.

Disgraceful performances but absolutely nothing to do with Benny Lennartson's abilities as a Coach.

Then we differ on our opinion of excellent football.

The game against Sheffield was hardly aesthetically pleasing, lots of bookings and a sending off. The game was more of a battle than a football match.

The game against Swindon I'll give you. We made them look the second rate chumps (yes, chumps) that they are, were and always will be.

wba - Almost. A good fight back (on and off the playing surface), but defending that relied more on hope than ability and reasoning. They were always going to equalise at the death.

Grimsby - can't comment I wasn't there.

Now if you do want my list with full analysis of how bad we were you will have to wait until I have more time. But I could post the whole sorry story if you wish me to.

If you didn't like Sheff. U., that's up to you. I enjoyed it.

I thought City were excellent at West Brom, even Aaron Brown looked a player. Not an almost for me.

Grimsby, i assure you, was beautiful football from City, we could have had 8.

No need for a full analysis unless you REALLY want to - as far as i'm concerned you set me a direct challenge which i have indisputably answered.

Swindon, West Brom., and Grimsby.

I'm sure Trevor Francis (though he's a ######) said after his Birmingham side beat us that we were the best side they'd faced all season despite our lowly position and their lofty position. So that "performance" can't have been too bad.

After reading those posts and reflecting back on Bennys time here, i think he would serve us well as a Head Coach or a Director of Football....whatever that actualy means, my understanding of that role would be as a mentor/overseer to all things training, youth development and also bringing a wealth of tactical and match day experience.

Surely Benny would be able to succesfully fill either of those roles....i think so anyway.

Terry Cooper

The game has moved on in the last 10 or so years since he was involved with a league club.

Ray Houghton

On what grounds? Since he finished playing he has spent most of his time as a media pundit and an agent. Although he did have a less than illutrious spell as Assistant at Palace.

Joe Jordan

Jesus wept, he's been here twice before.

Like you say Madger, the opinion of Trevor Francis ain't up to much really.

The fact is we squandered some very good chances in that game and lost a game that we had the lead in. If you think that is excellent football then fine, I happen to think it shows the sign of a poor side, which is what we were under Lennartsson.

Now, you could say that it was largely Ward's side. Well maybe, but under Ward they were beginning to turn the corner. We outplayed Bolton in Ward's last game. (Note Nogbad - that game saw some excellent football, both offensively and at the back). But Lennartsson bought in enough of his own players who didn't shine Bo Andersen, Testimetanu, Seebok along with loan signing Heaney. He loaned out Thorpe but persevered with Torpey. He consistantly played Seebok and Brennan out of position, and thought the best place for Murray was as a wing back despite the fact that he can barely win a tackle. He couldn't decide where to play Adam Locke. He almost got lucky with the return of Taylor and the loaning of the excellent Howells. But ultimately he, and the team, was very poor during the time he was here.

Birmingham, Ipswich and Sunderland at home on the run-in were all good performances. We lost them all but we did play well. I remember Richard Wright played an absolute blinder in goal for Ipswich to keep our strikers at bay.
