Alex_BCFC
Surely the team that has lost out the most this pre-season is Swindon. They may well have Parkin for half the fee we get for Lita who has been doing the biz for 2 years less! Cheer up guys, we still have a good attack but just need a good centre back and left winger to have a decent go of it.

The fee is obviosuly going to be more than what we turned down before-700k. Thta is already much more than what Swindon got for Parkin. Not knocking the Swindon, even though it is easy to do now and will be even easier when they get relegated this coming season, just pointing out some facts.Yes, we are getting moe then the £700k that was knocked back, simple to work that one out.I say well done to the board for selling at the right time and well done to Tin's and everyone else for developing such a fab player. Guest Ben Wah Balls
The fee for Parkin was undisclosed but includes a sell on. We haven't lost out as we've used his wages to get Thorpe and Cureton and also signed other quality players with Gareth Whalley signing today. http://www.swindontownfc.premiumtv.co.uk/p...~684150,00.htmlWhalley being one of the star players for Bradford when they got to the premiership. We had Parkin for three years - far longer than most were expecting and as he was very honest and said he wanted to play in the championship next season and if he we weren't promoted he'd be moving on so it was not a shock when he left, everyone wishes him well for the future and there is no hard feelings.I wouldn't worry too much about losing Lita as you'll probably be signing more players this summer and you've probably got a decent fee but I'd rather have the three years of goals and still make a tidy profit personally - that's not losing out. He is making a fair point that we look as if we'll get 800k odd up front and loads more to come for Lita, who as it stands is a one season wonder, while Swindon got less for a player who has proven that he can score a lot of goals. So on the pure face of the deals we have got more than Swindon have they have lost a more proven player than we have, for all we know had Lita stayed he may not have done anywhere near as well as he did last season, while you can guarentee 20-30 goals out of Parkin. I doubt we'll get promoted but I'd stake everything I own on us being nowhere near the relegation zone in the latter half of the season.Anyway, you're right about Lita - you got a better deal for a less proven player at this level. Bear in mind that both Parkin and Lita are unproven in the next league up and might not perform anywhere near to the standards they've shown at our respective clubs. I have to admit that whenever I've seen Lita he's been useless so I'm presuming Reading's scouts didn't see him play against us. I'm just speculating, but I imagine the reason Lita has probably gone for more than Sammy did is because he's got pace.

Guest STFCDude
The only reason we weren't able to get more for Parkin is because he had a minimum release fee clause in his contract that Ipswich met. Heywood and Andy King are still big golfing buddies. Hardly sounds the relationship of two people who don't get on!Heywood had been a Swindon a long time and felt he needed a change. Good luck to him.As for Grunt Sniff. He had a few good games and now he thinks he's Pele! Don't get me wrong, he has a sweet left foot but there isn't much else in his locker! Whalley is 31 and a superb player who has played a part in five promotions before and he's done extremely well in the championship and played in the premiership. Given a choice between him and Grant Smith I would take Whalley every time, he'd get in your side no trouble. Cureton is only 29 so again over the hill is ridiculous. As for "none of the players getting on with King", you are well wide of the mark. Parkin got on very well with King and thats why he stayed so long, Heywood likewise has King to thank for rescuing his career. Hewlett, Robinson and Howard weren't even offered contracts. And then you claim King couldn't even manage his own finances....we've made a profit from the players he's brought and sold and he's bought in 20-25+ goal a season strikers like Mooney and Parkin for a combined total of 50k and on one of the smallest wage budgets in the league. On a tight budget you will struggle to find any better managers than King.
