Credit Where It's Due

As someone who has been quite critical of these two in the past, it's only fair to say they both had excellent games yesterday.

Tommy's fitness levels seem to have got better, and it was interesting to hear Wilson say in his Press Conference that it's an area in which he needed to improve. It was good to see him play a full 90 minutes, and some of his close control and passing was outstanding. A really well taken goal too, that turned the game.

Lee was excellent up front. All over the pitch, and didn't let those neanderthal centre halves get the better of him. Deserved a goal (was it him that spooned one over from 2 feet in the first half) but laid on an excellent pass for Freezer's goal.

On a different note, nice to see a good buzz about the Gate yesterday. All the old players in the Red and White before the game, Tins 501st, lots of noise from the East End and three goals in a few minutes at the end. More of that please!

Agree with your opinion of Docherty but Peacock continues to flatter to decieve.

He can score stunning 20 yarders and then miss from 2 yards as he did yesterday. He's just doesn't have that instinct and anticipation in and around the 6yrd box.Thorpe or Goater would have buried that chance that he blazed over when it was easier to score.Miller would have scored as well if it had fallen to him.

The two things that impressed me about Peacock yesterday was his pass to set up the fourth goal and the fact he didn't give away loads of free kicks with ill-timed and clumsy challenges as usual.
